Customized search NASA ADS ArXiv

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am an astrophysicist and I make heavy use of Nasa ADS (http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abstract_service.html) and ArXiv (http://arxiv.org) search engines.

I should be grateful if someone could explain me how to customize Alfred v2 to search on these two search engines, i.e. typing "ads" or "arxiv" and then, for example:

   ads  author

   ads  author1 author2

   ads  author1 date

I've seen on the web some too elaborated solutions (with java codes, etc..), but I think that there are easier solutions.

Thank you!

I would also like this. Can somebody recommend some resources to learn how to make an alfred workflow for this?

It appears that the arxiv search is just a simple GET request and is very easy to turn into a custom search for Alfred. The other is going to be more elaborate and would depend on how flexible you would want the search to be. Is there a particular thing that you would always want it to search? (author, title words, abstract words, etc)?

I'd be happy to help you get these set up.
