How to make a hotkey to make the keyboard type alt-`, a

Recommended Posts

Basically I just want an easier way to type "à" than "alt-`, a."

Which version of OS X are you on? If you're on Yosemite (and possibly Mavericks, I can't quite remember which version Apple brought this in), simply hold the A character and you'll see a little pop-up with the various accents you can add to the A. This applies to any other character that can be accented (all vowels, the n, s, l, etc...)

You could otherwise just copy your "à" character, create a workflow that connects a hotkey to a clipboard output where you check the box to automatically paste to the frontmost app. However, I think the built-in OS X way may be easier as you then don't have to remember a hotkey combo. :)
