Alfred forum email notifications.

While the case seems to be closed, I am posting this in the case I am not the only one to have experienced this.

 

I subscribed to the "Share your workflows section" long time ago. This week, I cleaned my email inbox and there were dozens of email notifications coming from Alfred's forum with Korean characters. These were 1-2 or more months old emails. They looked like a regular notification with a regular subject line ("XXXX posted a new subject bla bla bla") but for every new subject posted I received like 5 emails. The email content was closer to spam than notification.

 

Apparently, either something has been fixed or the spammer found better things to do.

The forum is currently experiencing spam issues (bots etc) which we (and our forum mods) are keeping our very best to keep on top of. Unfortunately, if you are subscribed to a forum, you'll likely get the emails when they post in the forum even if we delete and clean them up moments after. I'll talk to Vero to see is there is anything we can do!

As Andrew explains, we do our best to keep on top of it, but subscribing to the forum as a whole makes you susceptible to receiving the spam messages before we can clean them up. We've strengthened our anti-spam measures, but some will still get through.

 

I would suggest visiting the forum every so often and manually choosing which threads you want to follow, rather than follow the workflows sub-forum as a whole if the emails get bothersome.
