Snippet Search Only Looks At Name & Keyword?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm trying to move from TextExpander to Alfred Snippets and so far things are going pretty well.

BUT, am I correct that when searching Snippets, Alfred is only looking at the name of the snippet and the keyword? As opposed to the actual snippet itself. It sure would be handy if the snippet text itself was also searched.

Thanks!

Hi there,

In the Clipboard/Snippets viewer, Alfred searches name and keyword by design to keep things tidy and make it easy to find the right snippet without having to type much.

In Alfred's Snippets preferences, we're considering expanding the search box to search all collections at once, rather than the specific selected one, and including the snippet content in the search. Keep an eye on upcoming updates for this :)

Cheers,

Vero

Hi there

As a recent transfer-er from textexpander to alfred snippets (brilliant, reliable, and now I don't have to have another helper running as well as Alfred)

I can safely say "being able to search multiple folders (collections)" would be a really wonderful thing

More people will be getting the powerpack and using snippets when they realise it is available and as awesome as textexpander

So please please help newcomers (and me) by working on this again

Best wishes
Jonathan

Just to add my 2¢ here, I'm happy with the Clipboard/Snippets viewer to search on name and keyword only, but I'd love for search in Snippets preferences (which does now search snippet contents also, hooray!) to allow for even greater search sophistication, not just the present 'search whole string as entered' behaviour. At present, if I have a snippet with the contents Thanks for writing!, I can find it in Snippets preferences by searching Thanks for but not Thanks writing. I've got a lot of long letter-y bits in my Alfred snippets, and this behaviour (implicit Boolean AND between terms entered) would help me more easily find the particular snippet I'm looking for (often to edit or consult). ❤️
