    @chuckl It looks like you've been fairly thorough in testing out what could be the cause of the issue you're having, as these are the first few things I'd suggest testing out :)

     

    Further to this, could you try:

    - Using TextEdit as pasting destination: This just removes some variables as pasting to TE is very predictable

    - Check whether you're using any other keyboard modifier apps/tools that could be highjacking Cmd + V

    - Go to Alfred's Appearance > Options (bottom left) and set the Focusing to Compatibility mode

    Remote non responsive

    @Ancil @Renato If you could please provide more details in answer to the questions below, I'll be able to investigate further:

     

    - Can you connect your Remote to your Mac and see the pages of icons on your Remote?

    - If you set a simple action (e.g. Show Alfred, launch Safari, open Documents folder), does this action work? Or do no actions at all work?

    - Take a look at Console.app, do you see any error messages that would be relevant?

    - Ancil, in the case of your two Macs, which version of OS X, version of Alfred are you using on each one? Are you using the same Remote prefs on both Macs?

    Why does Alfred exclude some applications?

    Hi @matthew16 - I've merged your two topics relating to Alfred's search together so that they can be answered as one.

     

    First, I would recommend turning off unintelligent search, as this makes results much noisier by including all files types. Select from the top sections results you want in the default search (I have Applications, Contacts, Prefs and Folders only). 

     

    Next, check your search scope in Features > Default Results and click "reset" to return them to defaults, as you may have excluded some essential paths.

     

    If you still don't see the apps you need in results, you may benefit from reindexing your Mac, which you can do by following step 4 here (but I would encourage you to look at all steps on this page):

    The reindexing can take up to an hour to complete. Once the reindex has completed, type "reload" into Alfred to ensure the cache (which only includes Apps, not all file types) is up to date.

     

    Let me know how you get on, and we can then look more specifically at any other folders or result types you can't find. :)

    Problems with Snippets and Clipboard

    @gatek Do you have any other clipboard manager or keyboard modifier tools on your Mac that could be interfering with normal behaviour? Take a look at the Accessibility preferences (System Prefs > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Accessibility) for any apps listed there.

     

    If so, disable any of these temporarily which should allow you to identify which tool might be causing the unexpected behaviour.

    @lavalcas I'm guessing that Dropbox's latest change in policy where the "Public" Dropbox folder is no longer shared has gone live, so @Carlos-Sz will just need to update the link to the workflow.

     

    In the meantime, here's a download link using the copy of the workflow I had on my Mac :) I'll remove this link as soon as the official one is updated:

    Can only find some files if I use the Exact File Name?

    @elgrayso Alfred searches from word boundaries, so you'll find the file by searching using "Panel" as there's a space before it, creating a word boundary. If you used spaces instead of dashes between words, e.g. "2017-02-03 AnyLab Metabolic Panel.jpg", you'd be able to find it using any of the words. This is assuming your Spotlight index is in good shape.

     

    If Spotlight can't find it either even with the word "panel", you may need to rebuild your Mac's index from Alfred's Advanced preferences. This can take up to an hour, and will result in OS X rebuilding the file index to ensure files are found in the future. :)

    Wake up after sleep with remote?

    @bossa Apologies for the delayed reply, I somehow missed this thread. 

     

    This is a tricky one. With a wifi connection, the behaviour is more predictable; if you've set "Wake on Network" in the System Preferences > Energy Saver, Alfred Remote will be able to wake up your Mac, connect to it and send a new command, after you've slept your Mac either from Alfred itself or from Remote.  

     

    Bluetooth is much more temperamental; it can depend on which version of OS X and iOS you're using, and you may find that you're unable to connect or wake your Mac. I'm on El Capitan, and I can't even get my Mac and iPhone to Bluetooth to each other (in Sys Prefs, completely outside of Alfred), so for more reliable behaviour, you'll be much better off using wifi :)

    Can't upgrade V3 License

    @Fred If you're already using a v3 Single User license, it's not currently possible to upgrade automatically through our checkout (as you're already on the latest version of Alfred) but we'll be adding this in the coming months. In the meantime, drop us a line on info@ and we'll help you do this manually :)

    Alfred launcher misbehaves and doesn't load well sometimes

    @nikivi This isn't a bug in Alfred; This will be something as simple as 1. A hotkey conflict with another app that's stealing focus away, or 2. Interference from another app with Accessibility permissions.

     

    To troubleshoot what's happening, first, change your Alfred hotkey and see whether the behaviour is resolved.  Secondly, if you still see the behaviour, go to Alfred's Appearance > Options (bottom left) and change focusing to "Compatibility".

    @Shuyi This will be down to the workflow itself, and to the results Evernote provides. From the looks of it, the "ens" script filter is set to match on partial words, while "ent" is set to return results on full words only. 

     

    Keep in mind that workflows are created by individual Alfred users (in this case @Carlos-Sz), so this isn't an Alfred bug; It's a difference between how you'd like it to behave vs how Carlos chose to create the workflow. :)

    @Shuyi Could you clarify; Can you get results for any of the Evernote workflow keywords, or none at all?

     

    Check the first post in this thread and ensure that you're using:

    - Alfred 3.3.1

    - Evernote 6+ from Evernote.com (not from the Mac App Store

    - The latest version of the workflow from the first post of this thread?

     

    If you're using the up to date version of all three, the workflow should work great for you :)

    File Filter doesn't show everything

    @nikivi Metadata all looks healthy. Have you tried simply renaming your file to something more specific? It's likely that there are just too many results for "math" and the file hasn't been used as recently as the other results.

     

    Alfred presents you with the 40 most relevant results for the file name; I can see you've got a huge number of files that will match "math" so see if renaming it will help you narrow down your search by typing a more precise file name.

    @19000 Taking a look at your screenshots and your license, it looks like you're still using Alfred 2?

     

    I've tested this issue with Alfred 3, but please bear with me a few days and I will aim to test this further in Alfred 2 as well. :)

     

    In the meantime, I would recommend creating a temporary second user account on your Mac, and checking whether you encounter the same behaviour without the other apps you have installed on your primary user account. This will help narrow down whether it's a conflict issue with another app.

    Apple keyboard shortcut "command p" not working

    @jakkkkkk It seems likely that you've installed a workflow in Alfred 3, such as Paste as Plain Text, and used Cmd + P to paste.

     

    Go to Alfred's Workflows tab and click the cog in the top left. Choose "Show hotkeys" under Display Options so that all hotkeys used by your workflows are shown in the sidebar. You should be able to identify the correct workflow and either remove or change the hotkey.

     

    I can see you posted the same question on Facebook, so I'll hide it there to keep the discussion here in one place.

    Merge Appended with 2 Lines

    @kevnk @pnuker @jaywang With Alfred 3.3, you can now essentially create your custom clipboard merging formatting :)

     

    Take a look at the built-in workflow example in Getting Started > Clipboard, where you'll see the bottom left example with title "mergeclipboard":

    You can change this to be triggered with a hotkey, and paste using the exact format that suits your needs.
