  1. @wealthychef It's on my current to-do list to update this page, as unfortunately Evernote has changed in such a way that it's no longer possible to include Evernote in search results in the way outlined on that page. Evernote name data folders, notes and attachments arbitrarily, so there are no useful file name or title metadata for Alfred to search. Alfred doesn't search file content in the default results as this would have the potential of slowing down results. I created a File Filter workflow for Evernote, with the view that you could then add other file types, e.g.
  2. @ilyak22000 Could you please provide more details? - Which version of Alfred are you using (which build, which you can find in the Update tab)? - Which version of macOS are you using? - How are you searching? What are you typing into Alfred exactly? For example, a file search should be prefixed with pressing the spacebar - a shortcut to the "open" keyword, which broadens your search. - Is the path you're searching for in the Alfred search scope in Features > Default Results? If you've rebuilt your Mac's index and given it sufficient time to complete re
  3. @tleish Could you check your System Prefs > Notifications settings? Your alerts may be set to "none", in which case no notification will be shown. Switching to "Banners" will give you the expected notification. Out of interest, did you do a straight upgrade on your Mac? Or was it a restore, backup, transfer from another Mac, etc? The latter are more likely to cause permissions issues. Cheers, Vero
  4. @RajunCajun The key feature of the cloud storage solution you choose needs to be that files are stored locally and always available on your Mac, not just as virtual files that are actually stored online. For example, Dropbox* keeps all your files locally on your Mac, which means that there's a tangible file for macOS to reliably include in its index. [* I'm referring to Dropbox in its vanilla form, I do believe they also now have a feature where you can choose to only store files online and keep just a reference locally on your Mac.]
  5. @Terminal @Pearcen Doing an mdls on these files or using the Alfred metadata tool (https://cachefly.alfredapp.com/tools/AlfredMetadataTool_v1.1.zip) should give more insight into whether these files even have any relevant metadata associated to them. As Dean suggests, GDFS isn't a real file system. Google haven't put a high priority on making it work reliably with Spotlight and macOS, unfortunately.
  6. @tleish As a first step, could you please open the macOS Security & Privacy preferences, removing and re-granting Alfred access in the Accessibility permissions section? It's likely that in upgrading to Catalina, macOS got itself into a muddle with permissions. Removing and re-granting should take care of that Cheers, Vero
  7. @vco1 Welcome to the forum! Could you please fill in your Powerpack email address in your forum profile before asking Powerpack-related questions? Cheers, Vero
  8. @juerke Welcome to the forum Give this beginner's guide a try for a few tips on searching your Mac using Alfred: https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/tips-and-tricks/beginners-guide-to-alfred-searching-your-mac-and-the-web/ If you still can't find your files, try Spotlight. If Spotlight also can't see your files, you may need to rebuild your Mac's index. Take a look at the indexing troubleshooting guide here: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/ Let us know how you get on Cheers, Vero
  9. @ClintB On second thought, there are a few different ways to save images to clipboard, depending on what's most useful to your own work flow. If you're on Mojave or Catalina, you can use Cmd + Shift + 5 to bring up the Screenshot app and its settings. You'll see a small panel at the bottom of your screen with some screenshot preferences. Under "Options", you can choose to save the screenshot to a few different locations, including the clipboard. With that option set, screenshots using Cmd + Shift + 4 will be saved as raw images to your clipboard. The above will save a r
  10. @ClintB Alfred doesn't automatically save your Cmd + Shift + 4 screenshots to the clipboard. These will be stored on your desktop by macOS. If you choose the screenshot file on your desktop and Cmd + C, the screenshot file will be added to your Alfred clipboard as a file. If you open the screenshot in Preview, select all and copy, you'll then store it in Alfred's clipboard as an image. These are two different ways to keep your screenshot depending on which one's most useful. Is there anything in particular you're trying to achieve? You may be able to create a workflow
  11. @Harrip Welcome to the forum! Could you please provide more details? Are you using a default/custom search (e.g. from the Features > Web Search list) or via the 1Password integration to open one of your 1PW bookmark? Cheers, Vero
  12. @Tsunami Alfred checks timestamps and removes old clipboard history after use. As such, when you paste an item from Clipboard History, some short amount of time after that, old items will be deleted. The same check occurs when relaunching Alfred. You just need to make use and paste from your clipboard history for Alfred to actively maintain it Cheers, Vero
  13. @Saez This is possible by changing the fallback searches here: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/features/default-results/fallback-searches/ Cheers, Vero
  14. @mikejandreau Could you go through the indexing troubleshooting steps here? https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/ In particular, if you follow step 4, once you get to Terminal, do you see "Indexing enabled" or any error message relating to indexing? Can Spotlight find the apps and open them? If you install the Metadata tool (https://cachefly.alfredapp.com/tools/AlfredMetadataTool_v1.1.zip) and drag in some apps, is their metadata complete? (Paste the output here so that we can help you further) Cheers, Vero
  15. @Martina Could you please follow step 4 of the Indexing Troubleshooting page and rebuild your Mac's index? This can take up to an hour, and once it completes, you can try searching again. This ensures that macOS rebuilds the index of all files on your Mac, which is usually where the issue lies when results are not returned. Cheers, Vero
  16. @mriganktiwari It's still unclear if you're referring to a custom search or a workflow. It would be helpful to provide either the workflow itself or screenshots of the custom search configuration window, so that we can help you more easily rather than guessing at what you're doing. Cheers, Vero
  17. @octothorpe Based on your screenshot of the preferences, it doesn't look like you've activated snippet auto-expansion; You'll need to check the box that says "Automatically expand snippets by keyword". Edited to add: I see you're talking about pasting from the viewer rather than expanding... In that case, if you make TextEdit your frontmost window, and try pasting a snippet there, do you get the expected behaviour? It's best to test in a basic native app, as a third-party app or browser window might have some other funky stuff going on that affects the ability to paste to it.
  18. @Martina The first step to take is to go through the indexing troubleshooting page, and likely rebuild your Mac's index (step 4): https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/ If the issue persists once you've gone through all the steps, please provide more details: - Which version of Alfred and macOS are you using? - Where is the folder you're searching for? Can Spotlight find it? - What are you typing in Alfred? - How many results are being returned? Could your result be further down the list? - What are your preferences in the Features &g
  19. @Daniele Could you please temporarily create a new user account on your Mac where you're seeing this issue? When you request Contacts permissions, are you able to set them on this new profile? Let me know how you get on. Cheers, Vero
  20. @Joe Littlejohn Are you using any third-party tools like Karabiner or other keyboard remappers that may be interfering with normal hotkey operations? If so, try quitting them (not just disabling) and seeing whether it then works. Cheers, Vero
  21. @Daniele I'm re-posting the response Andrew provided you by email, in case this is useful to other users in the future: On starting Alfred, macOS should present a dialog requesting access to Contacts. If you deny access, you should still see Alfred listed in the macOS Privacy > Contacts screen, just unchecked. If this isn't happening, there could be a permissions issue in macOS which is preventing this from happening. You can try using a macOS Terminal command to reset the underlying permissions for this. You can do this by quitting Alfred, then pasting the following
  22. @Seth L Yes, unfortunately, Apple haven't made any changes to allow access to searching Mail. I've also got a new Mac that came with Catalina pre-installed, and it frustrates me too, but this isn't something we have control over. Cheers, Vero
  23. @atv For your first question, take a look at Duck Duck Go's URLs and create your own custom search: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/features/web-search/custom-searches/ With regards to the Clipboard, it sounds like you haven't yet granted Alfred permissions, or enabled the Clipboard: Grant permissions here: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/getting-started/permissions/ Enable the clipboard history feature here: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/features/clipboard/#clipboard-history And finally, for Eject, yes, it's a safe way to disconnect external devices.
  24. @jeremy What apps are you using when you're seeing this? Could you please test with TextEdit on one screen and Safari on the other, as these are native basic apps? The Active Screen option works as expected, and I've just tested it on various OS versions from El Capitan up to Mojave. I'm curious whether you might be using an app that doesn't take active focus (e.g. the name of the app doesn't appear at the top right of the menu bar) and therefore macOS isn't treating it as the actively focused screen in the same way. Let me know how you get on. Cheers, Ver
  25. @MasterWayne Any integration with third party apps like this will require the Powerpack, so you'll first need to get a license, so that you can use workflows. Please make sure that you fill in your registered email address in your forum profile once you've purchased your license. Cheers, Vero
