  1. @sknud Welcome to the forum.

Where is the file in question located? Could you provide the full output from the File Troubleshooter?

With regards to permissions, if you granted permissions before upgrade, it's possible that macOS has lost resolution of those permissions. You can follow these instructions to re-grant them:

    https://www.alfredapp.com/help/getting-started/permissions/#regrant

Let me know how you get on :)

If you used the macOS Migration Assistant, you may be encountering a different issue, where macOS reports your home folder incorrectly.

Take a look at step 2 here to widen the search scope and work around the macOS bug:

  3. @Alan He This isn't something we can fix for you; OneDrive is not a supported sync service, so if you're choosing to use it, the tips from Smartishhome should help you resolve the issue.

Beyond that, you'll need to either switch to a supported sync service or unsync your preferences.

  4. @luckman212 Sorry about the slow reply on this one.

I've mentioned this to Andrew to take a look at how Alfred treats the individual keywords. However, the simplest solution in the meantime would be to add "disk space" as a single keyword. This will give you the exact results you need without having to wait for us to investigate. :)

  5. @Serhiy Klieshnin Welcome to the forum :)

As per my reply to your email, we are working directly with the 1Password co-founder Dave Teare to support 1Password 8. Keep in mind that 1Password 8 is still in beta, and isn't a general release yet. It will be possible to use Alfred with 1PW8 once the integration is complete.

    Cheers,
    Vero

  6. @mikedee Apologies, I've discussed this with @Andrew, who confirmed that Alfred does re-add himself during updates.  This has been Alfred's behaviour for over a decade, hence my incorrect answer, again apologies for the confusion!

It's unusual for anyone to want Alfred installed and to continue doing software updates, but not want it launching automatically, so I've raised it as a point of discussion internally.

  7. @Cavan Scott Welcome to the forum :)

To add Alfred to the Full Disk Access, please follow these instructions:

    https://www.alfredapp.com/help/getting-started/permissions/#full-disk

You'll need to first click the padlock at the bottom and type in your user account password, so that macOS knows you are allowing these changes.

Having said that, Alfred doesn't require Full Disk to search for files on your Mac, but rather to include Bookmarks, etc in your results.

If you're having issues with Alfred's indexed results, take a look at this guide if you're using macOS Monterey:

    https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/monterey

Or this one if you're on an older version of macOS:

  8. @todoublez There's no need to search the snippets to paste the date. If you set up your snippets for text auto-expansion, you can just type your snippet shortcut in your document (without showing Alfred's Snippets Viewer) and Alfred will replace the keyword with your dynamic date.

Here's how you can set up text expansion:

    https://www.alfredapp.com/help/features/snippets/auto-expansion/

You would then create a snippet containing {date} or a variation of it for the specific date format you want:

    https://www.alfredapp.com/help/workflows/advanced/placeholders/#date-time

If you specifically want to pop up Alfred to paste the date, you can create a workflow to do this. Connect a Keyword object to a Copy to Clipboard. Put your {date} into the clipboard object and tick the box to "Paste to frontmost app".

Let me know if you need any further help :)

    Cheers,
    Vero

  9. @MarcAtWork  If you're on a new Mac Studio, you'll be using Monterey.  Have you transferred your files from another Mac using the Migration Assistant tool?

If so, you're encountering the bug in macOS Monterey's Migration Assistant described here:
    https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/monterey

Following step 2 will work around the macOS bug, allowing you to find files normally once again.

If the issue persists after widening the search scope, please provide your Diagnostics file by typing "?diagnostics" into Alfred and sending it to our info@ address with a link back to this thread for context.

    Cheers,
    Vero

  10. @Marlouis Welcome to the forum :)

This post summarises why you're seeing the change in macOS 12.3; In short, Apple have removed the Python 2 scripting language, which is used behind the scenes by the workflow you're using.

    https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/guides-and-tutorials/python-2-workflows-on-macos-monterey-12-3/

The creator of this workflow has already updated it for Python 3, so take a look at the first post of this thread for details:

As @dfay opted for Python 3, you'll need to set this up on your Mac as well. If you're not familiar with the process, I'm sure community members will be able to help you out.

  11. @macsorcery Alfred doesn't bundle scripting languages (and didn't bundle Python 2 in the past); It uses the ones made available by macOS or that you've installed yourself.

There are instructions on reinstalling Python 2 here, as most workflows are being tweaked to use the new location where Python 2 is located on your Mac:

    https://www.alfredapp.com/help/kb/python-2-monterey/

Alternatively, some workflow creators are opting to move away from Python altogether and rewriting their workflows using other scripting languages that are built into Alfred and don't require any setup in this respect. :)

  12. @Ilan Welcome to the forum :)

Depending on whether you've been syncing your preferences or not, here's where you'll find your preferences:

    Non-synced Mac:

    ~/Library/Application Support/Alfred/

    Synced Mac:

Check Alfred's Advanced preferences, where you'll see the sync folder you've set in the bottom right.

In that location, you'll find the Alfred.alfredpreferences bundle. Copy it to the same location in your new user profile to use these preferences. You'll need to activate your Powerpack license on your new profile as well.

Let us know if you need any further help.

  13. @SK. Apps like Clean My Mac are quite aggressive in deleting essential files.

First, check your Mac's Trash, in case that's where the "cleaned" files are moved to. If you find your Alfred.alfredpreferences, keep this file safely and we'll help you reset it.

Do you use Time Machine? If so, you should be able to recover your files there.

Please provide more details on your setup and I'll help you recover what can be recovered.

  14. @SamF Welcome to the forum :)

Could you please let us know which version of Alfred and macOS you're using?

If you're using macOS Monterey, have you transferred your files from another Mac using the Migration Assistant tool? If so, you're encountering the bug in macOS Monterey's Migration Assistant described here:
    https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/monterey

Following step 2 will work around the macOS bug, allowing you to find files normally once again.

If the issue persists, please look at step 1 and provide some outputs from the File Troubleshooter, so that we can see what state the metadata is in :)

    Cheers,
    Vero

  15. @Fadi Apologies for missing your last reply - it's been a rather busy week with so many Mac users receiving new Macs and needing help.

Can you please provide some details that will help us troubleshoot what's happening on your Mac:

    - Which version of Alfred are you using?

    - Which version of macOS?

    - Did snippets work normally on the same Mac previously?

    - When you say you can't make snippets work, can you clarify whether you mean that the keyword doesn't disappear when typed? Or at any other stage?

    - Can you ensure you test in TextEdit, as it's a native app and excludes any quirks that could be caused by third-party apps?

If you could also send by email to our info@ address:

    - Your Diagnostics file, which you can get by typing "?diagnostics" into Alfred.

    - A screenshot of your Snippets preferences

I'll then have more information to help you out :)

    Cheers,
    Vero

  16. @johnny_cash Not out of the box, as it's still a very unusual request, but it should only take you a few seconds to create a workflow for this.

Here's how you can do this:

    - Set your primary Alfred hotkey in the General tab to something quite obscure you're unlikely to accidentally type

    - Create a workflow with a Hotkey trigger object with a hotkey combo of your choice (the global hotkey you want to use) and the action set to "Show Alfred"

    - In the "Related Apps" tab, change the dropdown to "don't have focus" and drag in the relevant apps. When these apps are in focus, Alfred will ignore the hotkey you've set

    Cheers,
    Vero
