  1. @marqueemark Welcome to the forum. Could you please let us know which version of Alfred you're using? Please ensure you're using Alfred 4.6.3, downloaded from https://www.alfredapp.com and not the App Store version. Cheers, Vero
  2. @23skidoo Welcome to the forum If you choose a bit of text and use your Universal Actions hotkey (by default it's ⌘/), then type "large" and press return on the Large Text action, does it work as expected? If so, this confirms that there's a clash somewhere on your Mac with ⌘L. Some suggestions of what to check: If you're using Alfred workflows, go to the Workflows tab, click the cog at the top of the list of workflows and check "Show hotkeys". This will allow you to see any hotkey used in your workflows in case any use ⌘L. Check other background apps: The type of apps that live in your top menu bar and run in the background, which makes them easy to forget. Is one of them using a conflicting hotkey? Try quitting everything you can on your Mac, see if ⌘L works. If it does, slowly relaunch one app at the time, until you find the one that's clashing. Cheers, Vero
  3. @splitpersonality A look around the forum shows that BusyContacts have their own URL handler (busycontacts://show/{uid}) and you can find out more about it here: https://support.busymac.com/help/56235-busycontacts-url-handler
  4. @Thomask Might be worth dropping them a line yourself, as you can see from my message last year that, after months of chasing them, they were not willing to help with the AppleScript. They may be more helpful to their own community members. 🤷‍♀️
  5. @Smpl This is due to a change Apple has now made in macOS 12.3, where the've removed Python 2 from the pre-installed programming languages. As you're in 12.2.1, you're seeing the pre-emptive "announcement" of this. You can find out more about it here: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/monterey-alfred-4-python-2-popup/ Take a look at the workflows you're using for which one(s) are using Python 2. There are a few solutions: Look for an updated version of the workflow: Many devs have already updated theirs, and @vitor is doing the stellar job of updating others when requested here. Reinstall Python 2 if that's you prefer If you need help, pop a post in the relevant thread and we'll be happy to help you out
  6. Could you expand on that? What issues are you experiencing?
  7. @href Could you please open Alfred's preferences to Appearance > Options (bottom of the themes sidebar), and check that the "Focusing" option at the bottom left is set to Standard mode, not Compatibility mode? Let me know how you get on.
  8. @kecinzer When you say the Alfred window opens, do you mean Alfred's search window or preferences? Could you please provide more details? Which version of macOS are you using? Which version of Alfred? When did this change? Did you upgrade/change your OS at that stage? Where are your Alfred preferences stored? The more information you can provide, the more likely we'll be able to help you. Cheers, Vero
  9. @RobertF If you're seeing the "Waiting for results from macOS..." message, I would recommend rebuilding your Mac's index. It could be that some corruption or incomplete index is causing macOS to lag in returning search results. Take a look at step 5 here to rebuild your index: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/
  10. @caysnowman Could you please use Alfred's File Troubleshooter, drag Mail to it and paste the output of the troubleshooter here? https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/ Could you also please provide: Which version of macOS you're using Which version of Alfred A screenshot of your Default Results preferences This should give us some more information so we can help you out. Edited to add: And when you say "doesn't launch", do you mean it doesn't show in Alfred's results, or it shows but when selected the app doesn't launch?
  11. @vlar I've just tested a Keyword to Open URL and, when Chrome is the specified browser, it opens in Chrome as expected. (I used Chrome 98.0.4758.102 build on macOS Monterey 12.2.1, using Alfred 4.6.3 - since you didn't specify which version you're using of any of these) If you paste a URL into Alfred, use the right arrow and choose "Open in..." and select Chrome, which browser does your URL open in?
  12. @Sir Cumference Had a quick look and... https://www.britannica.com/search?query={query} seems to be the right format Cheers, Vero
  13. @jichao6758 I've responded by email as well, but for the benefit of anyone else too, if you've upgraded to Monterey, this is the page to look at: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/monterey/ Widening the search scope (step 2) should work around the macOS Monterey current quirks with the user directory.
  14. @Steve Ball Open Alfred's prefs to Features > Snippets > Auto Expansion Options, and you'll see that snippets are set to not expand in Alfred and Alfred's preferences window. https://www.alfredapp.com/help/features/snippets/advanced/ If you prefer to be able to expand in Alfred itself, just remove that entry from the list Cheers, Vero
  15. @Dan ODonovan You can manually remove a workflow by right-clicking it in the sidebar, revealing it in Finder and deleting it there. Google Drive isn't a suitable sync service for Alfred's preferences, so you may find you encounter other issues, such as your preferences not being available on startup, resulting in Alfred creating new preferences, or conflict resolution being rather poor if you've changed files on two Macs at the same time. I would encourage you to back up to Time Machine regularly if you choose to use GD to sync your preferences. Cheers, Vero
  16. @HRD Could you please answer the questions I asked above? If you change a keyword for e.g. a custom search, quit Alfred and relaunch, is it saved correctly? What is your location for syncing preferences? Without tangible information, I can't guess what's happening on your Mac so I'd be grateful if you could also please send your diagnostics file to our info@ address. You can get your Diagnostics file by typing "?diagnostics" into Alfred. Cheers, Vero
  17. @HRD First, let's set aside the Bookmarks feature; What you seem to be reporting is that your preferences are not saving, correct? If you change a keyword, quit Alfred and reopen, is that keyword saved? Where are your preferences set to sync to? If you've picked an unusual sync location or Alfred is unable to save changes in the location you've set, preferences will appear to be reset when you relaunch. Once we've confirmed that you're once again able to save your preferences, then we can take a look at why Chrome bookmarks aren't showing.
  18. Seconding @Chris Messina's suggestion here; Anyone using 1PW 8 and experiencing issues, or wanting the 3rd party integration to be added, make your voices heard on 1Password's beta forum, as they're the ones who can take action on any issue their new version is causing you.
  19. @hobbes444 If you take a look at the change log for the latest release, you'll see this addition has already been made in Alfred 4.6.3. However, for anyone who has modified their search scope in the past, you'll need to add the ~/Library/CloudStorage path manually.
  20. @foxytrot Welcome to the forum! Currently, we recommend Dropbox, but the key features you need if you'd like to use another service are: Files stored locally (not as a representation of an online-only file) Available instantly at startup We're continuously evaluating alternatives, and re-assessing services as they change (e.g. iCloud has gotten somewhat more reliable over the past few years, but still requires Optimised Storage to be disabled). Some users have had success with other services I believe, so just make sure you keep a Time Machine backup of your preferences if you opt for something else.
  21. @Dominik Welcome to the forum With a hotkey modifier, you can reveal the file in Finder even when using the "in" keyword; Cmd + return will reveal the file in Finder. To see the actions or customise them, open Alfred's preferences to the Advanced tab, and on the right side, you'll see three dropdowns, which allow you to set what action you want to perform when you press a particular hotkey modifier plus the Return key. However, for even more awesomeness, take a look at Universal Actions; Pressing the right arrow from a result will show you a whole list of actions you can perform on the item. This can save you steps if your intention was to copy, email, etc the file(s). You can also create your own actions and save even more time.
  22. @alexxhenry Welcome to the forum Step one for this would be to work out whether there is AppleScript to run those commands, as that's the most reliable way to perform any action / manipulate Finder. Once you've worked a way for macOS to do what you have in mind, you'll be able to set a hotkey trigger for your script from Alfred.
  23. @aaf Take a look at this blog post where I share how to use a single keyword for multiple snippets via a list filter workflow: https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/guides-and-tutorials/single-keyword-for-multiple-snippets-workflow/
  24. @emorisse Welcome to the forum What are you trying to do with the email address once you have it? The simplest way to pick an email address and perform an action on it is to pop up Alfred, type the name of your contact. Once you see the contact card, choose the email address you want to take action on and press the right arrow to show the Universal Actions* panel: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/features/universal-actions/ You can add your custom workflow as a Universal Action from there - If you need any help with the next part, please share what you want to do and we'll be happy to help! [* It's worth noting that Universal Actions are much newer than the thread from 2015, which is why there's no mention of Universal Actions in that original thread ] Cheers, Vero
  25. Have you experimented with using the Dictionary "define" keyword, and setting your Dictionary to the Thesaurus tab? If you set it to that tab (or any of your choice), when Dictionary relaunches, it'll open to that tab again You can open Dictionary's preferences to order the dictionaries as you prefer too.
