I think the first question to ask is this: have you set your Dropbox files to be available offline? See generally this Alfred help page: Ensuring preferences are available offline.

Edit: And see also Snippets and Text Expansion Troubleshooting.

    @DampSquid Welcome to the forum

You can set Alfred to remember your query history, and show it if within 5 minutes, by enabling it in the preferences:
    https://www.alfredapp.com/blog/tips-and-tricks/keep-your-latest-query-handy/

I'm guessing that you don't have this enabled yet, but let me know if I've misunderstood your question / suggestion.

Vero got a reaction from Alan He in Open the Snippets Preferences Window by a Shortcut
@schaefera As well as the ways @Stephen_C suggested, you can type "?snippets" into Alfred and choose the result with Features > Snippets as the subtext - This will take you directly to the preferences. (This applies to any of the preferences, workflow keywords, etc when prefixed with the question mark)

Also, if you want to create a snippet from a bit of text you've just copied to the clipboard, you can pop up Alfred's Clipboard Viewer, choose the item you want to turn into a snippet and use Cmd + S to instantly start creating a snippet based on it.

    Hope this helps

@marfon On the problem Mac, if you open Alfred's preferences to the Workflows, right-click on the workflow you're having an issue with and choose "Reveal in Finder", are the same files revealed in that folder as on the other two Macs?

Vero got a reaction from howdytom in Spotlight indexing issues in Ventura 13.6.1
@howdytom Could you please try dragging in an individual file from the volume in question? E.g. a document, PDF, image rather than the volume itself? This should provide some more insight.

Have you contacted Apple for support with this as your issue is a Spotlight issue at its core? If you do, I would recommend focusing your issue specifically on finding results in Spotlight without mentioning Alfred or other third-party tools you're using, as this may sidetrack the discussion away from getting the help you need.

Vero got a reaction from sleuth in Chrome apps missing from search results on Alfred 5
@sleuth Could you drag one of those Chrome apps to Alfred's File Troubleshooting tool?
    https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/

According to a thread from 2014, these are just bookmarks but the app is still Chrome as far as macOS is concerned.

Your best bet may be to create custom keywords like these to launch the specific "apps" from Alfred:

Vero got a reaction from jesused in Alfred Blackfriday 2023?
@jesused Good to hear you're keen to use the Powerpack!

Instead of offering discounts for various groups like students, seniors, folks in different locations, etc, or running seasonal promotions, we've chosen to give away the core version for free and price Alfred's Powerpack as affordably as we can for everyone to take advantage of every day

As such, we don't offer further discounts. You can purchase a Single User license for the current version of Alfred, or the Mega Supporter license, which includes all future updates to Alfred for Mac for free.

Hi Laurent, launch Alfred's preferences to Appearance > Options and you'll be able to set Alfred to appear on default screen, mouse screen or, if you're using OS X 10.9 Mavericks, on the active screen (where your current active app is). It's all in there

Vero got a reaction from Grug in "Find" command not navigating to file in the Finder
@M4L @deanishe After some investigating a few days ago, Andrew was able to work out what's happening.

It seems to be specifically related to the column view in Finder. If you change the default Finder view to items or list, then it works as expected.

The workaround is to change the Finder view, or to use "Open File" instead of "Reveal in Finder", as this will open the folder in Finder, but also select it.

This is clearly a bug in Catalina, and we tried various workarounds to this issue using Apple's APIs to no avail. You get the same behaviour if you cmd+return in Spotlight on a folder. This is a bug that didn't exist on the older Mojave version of macOS, but unfortunately is exhibited in Big Sur's latest beta.

Vero got a reaction from Nat Harari in Alfred not finding alias to application
@Nat Harari Drag the relevant folder into your search scope in the Default Results preferences to include apps from that folder into your results.

Alternatively, if you just want one app from an obscure folder and would prefer not to add anything else to the scope, you can create a nickname workflow like this for a one-off file you want to open:

@rob213 Make sure that Alfred 4 is quit, then drag the app from your Applications folder in Finder to Trash.

Don't delete application support folders or use an app cleaner, as this data is still needed and used by Alfred 5.

@Curious As well as looking at the thread linked by Stephen, try dragging one of the web apps to Alfred's File Troubleshooting, which will likely tell you to set your Search Scope (in Features > Default Results) to "Reset to full disk":
    https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/

Once you've done this, the web apps should be included in your results.

Vero reacted to Belfong in Spotify Mini Player: Control your Spotify library at your fingertips
One tip I'd like to share with new users here. It took me a few months to discover it. In Alfred, when we want to search for files, instead of launching app, you would press "space bar" and type the filename.

In Spotify Mini, after you press the Hotkey to launch it, press "space bar" and Alfred will display a list of commands such as Play/Pause, Next, Previous, Add to Playlist, Volume Up and Down, etc. You can then use arrow key to choose which command you want and press Enter. The more times the command is used, e.g. you press Play/Pause a lot of times, Alfred will auto sort it to the top of the line. This makes it VERY easy to use Spotify Mini without needing to remember the command.

    Try it!

Vero got a reaction from Miltrin in Snippet trigger does not work as a placeholder
    @Miltrin Welcome to the forum!

It's not possible to use a Snippet Trigger in a workflow embedded within a standard snippet due to their complex and open ended nature.

Think of Snippet Triggers in a workflow as a trigger to run a workflow to do anything at all, but from a typed phrase in any app. It just so happens that you can also paste this back to macOS using a Copy to Clipboard, essentially making a scripted snippet in your case.

To achieve what you'd like to do, set the snippet trigger to what you'd like to use (e.g. "nb" in your example), then place the "jrnl bujo -contains --change-time {query}" in the Paste to Clipboard output object.

It's also worth noting that you don't need the "Arg and Vars" object.

@Ckdestef Alfred isn't finding the folder? Or the aliases? And is the folder itself a "real" folder in that location, or an alias as well?

Your best bet is to drag the folder into Alfred's File Troubleshooter, which will give you some details on the metadata macOS has for the folder itself:
    https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/

Vero got a reaction from Jimmy Bosse in Workflow deleted when run.
@Jimmy Bosse It sounds like your preferences may no longer be where Alfred expects them to be, which can happen for a few reasons:
If you used an "app cleaner" on updating Alfred, the preferences may have been removed, so check your trash first If you've recently updated to Sonoma, check whether your sync folder location is still accurate, e.g. Dropbox and other services have moved their data in recent years, so re-set your sync folder if needed If the issue persists, please provide your Diagnostics file, which you can get by typing "?diagnostics" into Alfred? You can then email this to our info@ email address so that I can help you further.

Vero got a reaction from thayakorn in Clipboard Auto Paste on Return appears to not be working
@dkardell @mr-peanut I would suggest first removing and re-granting Alfred Accessibility permissions. If you also updated macOS around the same time, it may be that the permissions are no longer properly granted to Alfred.

    https://www.alfredapp.com/help/getting-started/permissions/#regrant

Next, try the auto-paste in TextEdit to narrow down whether there really is a pasting issue, or whether it's the destination that's causing an issue.

Vero got a reaction from Alan He in Will Snippets work in RDP?
@PizzaGuyRidesAtDawn There are a few ways to work with the fact that you're using Windows. You're correct that pasting assumes Cmd + V will paste the current pasteboard content.

The simplest way to deal with this is to pop up Alfred's Snippets Viewer, choose your snippet and use Cmd + C to copy it to your clipboard, then Ctrl + V to paste to your VM.

I'm not familiar with Remote Desktop, but here are some steps I gave to a Parallels user some time ago, much of which would apply here:

However, this comes with the caveat that I do not have access to Remote Desktop to test it, so you'll likely need to fiddle around a little with your VM.

If all else fails, copying from the Snippet/Clipboard Viewer option will be your best option.

Let me know how you get on.

I have a bunch of File Filters set up for various folders on my Mac, whether it's art/personal projects, Alfred stuff, etc... They're a great time saver once you set a scope and a few file types.

Yak Saver: I like using a pomodoro-like workflow to get me to focus on one project for 20 minutes, then take a break and so on.

Paste as plain text from hotkey is the simplest of tasks, but invaluable.

It's not the size of the workflow, it's what you do with it that matters!
