As Alfred has to steal the keyboard focus, I'm not sure there is anything Alfred can do to change Total Terminal's behaviour… it might be worth raising this issue with them as there may be a way to tell Total Terminal not to slide away if certain apps (Alfred) take the focus. I have a ticket to look into this a bit more deeply… but it's a bit strange that the reports of this aren't widespread, and that David is seeing the workflows run fine in their current state.

Could you try something for me - try renaming aperture to something else e.g. 'banana', then type 'reload' into Alfred. Wait a few moments, then search to see if it is found. If so, rename it back to 'Aperture', type reload and wait… then try again

There is a little issue preventing this from working fully in non EN locales… I'll have this fixed in the next release.

The new 1Password 4 3rd party integration separates out the data Alfred needs and is the only way Alfred can integrate. This allows you to use Dropbox, iCloud etc and it not affect Alfred's integration… all in all, Alfred now has a much cleaner integration with 1Password

If you prefix your search with a spacebar to enter file search mode, are files and apps found? e.g. open Alfred and type [spacebar]safari This will let me know if there is something wrong with the app cache, or metadata file search. Cheers, Andrew

I'm not sure what you are not buying… You have shown that you can bring back all matching search results (30,000!!!) and subsequently filter. My point is, over time, this would absolutely bloat out mds and Alfred as the sheer amount of memory needed to hold your 30k results, especially with OS X's caching. Imagine a user had half a million matching results, and a slower Mac with a slower drive and less memory. From day one, I have made sure that Alfred is as lean and as unobtrusive to your Mac as possible, which is why I haven't implemented this bulldozer approach.

This sounds like an issue outside of Alfred's control… I'm going to move this to the help forum to see if anybody else can offer you a solution,

Does Alfred open Safari when selecting the link? If not, can you check if 1Password has http or https prefixed on the URL? [moving to the help sub-forum]

I have managed to set this hotkey in Mavericks fine. If a hotkey cannot be set, it is because this hotkey isn't being fed to Alfred's preferences, which means it is being used by something else. It might be worth checking through your other workflows to see if you already have it set elsewhere. Also perhaps try restarting your Mac? It's worth noting that nothing changed with regards to hotkeys between v2.0.9 and v2.1 Cheers, Andrew [moving to the help sub-forum]

Be sure that your external drive is included in Alfred's Features > Default Results > Search scope

Could you check that you Allowed Alfred access to the contacts the first time he asked… this is in the OS X Security and Privacy > Privacy > Contacts prefs

As they are just files, Time Machine does a pretty good job of backups… or a third party thing such as Hazel

I would love to be able to provide the ability to blacklist or ignore folders, but unfortunately, the OS X metadata search API only allows you to specify the folders you want to recursively search and no way to ignore folders. To ignore folders, Alfred would either have to do the indexing himself, or to return every single matching search result and then remove the ones in the excluded folder trees (both of which would turn him into a heavyweight giant). Either way, this is something I'm very aware of and review on a regular basis. If there is a way I can efficiently improve the file search in this way, I will. Cheers, Andrew

There are a few issues causing the non english dictionary defs to not show at this point - I've investigated and will get a fix in for the next release

To view Alfred on the currently visible screen, set the "Show Alfred on mouse screen" option in Alfred's Appearance > Options. When it comes to files, Alfred simply asks OS X to open files and documents, so this behaviour is essentially controlled by OS X. Once Mavericks is settled, I am going to do a full usability run through and see if there are any quirks I need to work around, but for now, you may need to configure certain applications to be more compliant, or play with OS X options such as Mission Control's "When switching to an application" option. I haven't see this happen before, but one theory is that the file search results are being slow and haven't finished, so at the point you go to drag, they update and there is a different file under your mouse. You could try an OS X metadata reindex to see if that helps?

One final thing to double check - could you reset Alfred's search scope in the default results. Are other files and apps being found fine? If so, for now, it might just be worth creating a workflow to replace this one item for now.

While you are waiting, could you just quit then re-download Alfred v2.1 (from the website) and replace out, just to rule out any corruption issues.

So there is something special about this particular thing which is preventing it from being properly found. Could you try one of two things... 1. drag Trackpad.prefPane to Spotlight's privacy, make sure Spotlight isn't finding it, then dragging it out again. 2. perform a low level full reindex using this method: http://skillzdesign.com/blog/clarifies/forcing-spotlight-reindexing-using-terminal/ Let me know how you get on!

It seems something is funny going on with certain folders in Dropbox where there is a permissions issue when trying to write. Essentially, Alfred doesn't care where the files are, he just reads and writes to the folder you tell him to for the preferences, and for some reason in this case, Dropbox is either ignoring, reverting or preventing the change from persisting. If you set the syncing outside of Dropbox (e.g. Documents), does it work as expected?
