  1. Hi @vitor, thanks for the workflow! Is there a way to configure to use my own Imgur account is the upload destination? I guess it would have to involve the insertion of my own API key or similar, correct? And, is there a way to invoke this workflow on screenshots that exist only in the clipboard history?
  2. Thank you so much! I learn so much from this thread it's unbelievable. I have a few more beginner's questions: 1. Alfred relies on Spotlight's indexing for its own results (correct me if I'm wrong). If so, I want to add my entire NAS to Spotlight/Alfred's index, but I want it to be included in the search scope only when prefixing the search with a keyword. How to do that? 2. Sometimes I need to find that pesky, obscure file buried very deep somewhere inside a hidden/system folder like /Library. To begin with, that folder is not indexed by Spotlight, and let's say that file extension isn't either. I want to perform such "deep" searches, that also include all file extension, with a specific prefix. Is it achievable? 3. Can I launch the more conventional Finder search directly through Alfred? Ideally with the ability to set the scope (i.e. "This Mac") right in Alfred, and pass boolean operators. Thanks!
  3. Thanks a lot everyone! @deanishe , I meant to say that I've read that article thoroughly. Despite the numerous shortcuts support by the File Buffer (indeed @Tsunami's suggestions is indeed the closest to what I'm asking about), they are still not efficient enough when browsing, through Alfred that is, folders with lots and lots of files. A file selection mechanism such as the one demonstrated in below GIF: But I understand it is not possible, correct? Two more questions: 1. Is there any way to quickly open Finder's top-most folder, that is, for a lack of a better word, the "device's" folder? (encircled in red in the attachment beneath). 2. Similarly, can I quickly get to the "Macintosh HD" folder?
  4. Thanks a lot for the help, @deanishe. I've read that article through and through, but correct me if I'm wrong, there's no way to multi-select files at once and add them to the buffer DIRECTLY FROM ALFRED. Only through Finder, using SHIFT, and then launching the action menu. How can I configure that? Thanks!
  5. Thanks @deanishe, but I guess there no way to quickly add multiple files to the file buffer? (in a similar manner to holding SHIFT and selecting files in Finder) A few more questions: Let's say I launch the action menu for a selected file in Finder and accidentally choose an action I'm not interested in, and I wish to go back. If I press ESC, the menu simply disappears. Is there a way to back to the action menu? Is there a quick way to open Alfred's Features>Snippets and Workflows windows? I find myself opening those two particular sections a lot. Is there a way to quickly load selected text to Alfred?
  6. Much appreciated. I think I'll start first by examining the workflow themselves. 1. Can you elaborate on this a little bit? what does +public.txt represent (as a file type)? Moreover: 2. If I delete the Keyword text, I won't have the original keyword handy in case I want to revert the changes, so I need to keep a backup. Right? 3. Can make a backup of my current workflows (those that are currently in their original state) by exporting them to another location?
  7. Thanks @deniashe, it works beautifully. Is there any way to "inject" this workflow into the normal eject feature? That means appending the keyword "eject" to this workflow as well, and when a user has both DMGs and volumes mounted, "eject" will list them all, and the subtext for DMGs will also include "... and delete".
  8. 1. What happens if I invoke the CopyContents workflow on .jpg or a very rich (photos, graphics and what not)? 2. Regarding RecentDownloads: how can I disable all keywords activating the workflow but "rda"? (but not erase them completely so I'll have future reference) 3. Is there any kind of a revisioning and/or backup mechanism available for workflow? Just in case I modify a workflow and want to do a rollback.
  9. Thanks @vitor! What kind of file extensions does your content copy workflow accept?
  10. Hello, I use the dictionary feature a lot, and I think it would be great to have the option to view the full definition right in Alfred, instead of a single line which rarely ever provides useful insights. This makes me open the Dictionary app every time, which is very inefficient. This is the default Spotlight behavior (phrases using the word and etymology are also included, and it's really useful) and it works well. Lacona does this too. Thanks!
  11. Hi @deanishe, I'm highly interested in this workflow as well, but the link is broken. A working one would be very appreciated. Thank you!
  12. I'm speechless. Thank you so much @vitor, works beautifully!
  13. Hi Everyone! New to Alfred and its world of workflows. I'm interested in creating my first two workflows. This is what I'm hoping to achieve: 1. Copy the contents of a text file (whether it's txt, nfo, html, rtf etc.) to the clipboard. I know there's a terminal command for that: pbcopy. I want to have this ability either through File Actions or as a workflow input. 2. Define a workflow input to open the most recently download file (in other words, the most recently added file in the macOS's Downloads folder). Help would be very appreciated! Thanks!
  14. Thanks for the workflow, it works wonderfully! How can I modify it to use "my own" URL shortener? (so all shortened links will be associated with my account and show neatly in my Google account dashboard) Thanks!
  15. First of all, thanks again! Regarding what you said: you're right - a directory may be the last stop. However, a file HAS to be the last stop, and in any case, → is a wasted key when a file is highlighted (when using the arrows for navigation), and it should be utilized - as I suggested, to open the Action menu. Perhaps I'll suggest this as a feature? One more question: I was wondering if, while in Alferd's file navigation (for example, when viewing the contents of a folder) I can use my keyboard to select multiple files, whether consecutively or not. Ideally, I would like to handle file selection as it is in the Windows File Explorer, where using different combinations of SHIFT, CTRL and Space allow me to select multiple files - consecutively, non-consecutively, or both - all with the keyboard. See GIF below. As you can expect, after the selection has been made, I would like to open the Action menu for all of the selected files. Is all of this possible? Thanks!
  16. Thank you so much for the elaborate reply, vitor! Some further questions: 1. If I enable the first checkbox under "Actions", it disables the usage of ← and → for navigation. I would like to use the arrows for folder navigation, but also use → to show the action menu for FILES (it makes sense a given file is usually the last "stop" in the file navigation process). 2. Is the double-⌘ unreliable? At first, I configured it to be the hotkey for the "File Selection" feature, but many it times Alfred didn't catch it and I had to repeat the double tap again. 3. What's the default hotkey for this feature anyway? 4. Is it possible to browse files in a given folder while in Quick Look mode? That is, tap shift, then use ↓/↑ to show Quick Look for the different files - just like with Space in Finder. Right now, I need to tap shift to open Quick Look for a file, then tap it again to close Quick Look, then use the arrows the select a different file and then tap shift again to Quick Look for that file, and so on. It's very inefficient. Thanks!
  17. Hello! New Alfred user here, so the questions are accordingly newbie-level. 1. I was wondering what are the small icons that sometimes appear above the right edge of the Alfred bar (see attachment) 2. Is it possible to sort file actions in my own custom order? 3. Many of the file actions in Alfred result in the termination of the Alfred bar (like moving a file). Many times this is desired, sometimes it's not. Is it possible to define a hotkey to be pressed while performing the action that will leave the Alfred bar open even after performing the file action? 4. I use the dictionary feature a lot, and I would like that each definition to appear in its entirety in the Alfred window, and not just a preview, so I won't have to open the Dictionary app. This is how it's done in Spotlight. Is this possible? 5. I use the left and right and arrow keys to navigate folders. Is it possible to define that the right arrow key also opens the actions menu for files? (left arrow goes back) 6. Is it possible to make cmd-down arrow open files and folders, in addition to the return key? Thanks!
  18. Thank you for this wonderful workflow! I was wondering how can I customize it as follows: 1. Remove the "cy" prefix to trigger the workflow, instead having the currency code itself (which is always a suffix) as the trigger (i. e. 100 USD or 100 EUR). This is similar to Spotlight. 2. Making the workflow work whether you put a space between the numeric value and the currency code or not (i. e. 100USD = 100 USD). Thanks!
  19. Thanks for the input everyone. @deanishe, I understand what you say, it's just that I consider the dictionary a core search - I use it incessantly. @GuiB, for quite a while now, I have been doing just that - I was using a combination of either Alfred and Spotlight (enhanced by the now-discontinued Flashlight) or Alfred and Launchbar, but I find that using more than one software of this kind actually hinders my productivity. I had identified Alftred's potential to be the best among the bunch, but I needed to verify if it would be possible to implement those aforementioned features - that's why I opened this thread.
  20. Hi Vero, Thanks a lot for the reply, it was incredibly helpful. I'm aware of Alfred's superiority over Spotlight in countless ways; it's just that I had to verify, prior to buying, that those key (for me) features could potentially exist. 1. Regarding the dictionary feature: sorry for not being clear enough. By saying "simply typing in", I meant typing in a word WITHOUT the define or spell prefixes, and still getting a result - just like Spotlight. I use the Dictionary app a lot, and typing the prefix each and every time is quite bothersome. 2. Regarding opening folders in a new tab: in my experience, it doesn't really work in Finder, despite having that setting checked. If I'm in a given folder, and I fire up Spotlight and navigate with it a different one, it will open up in a new Finder window. I was hoping there's a way to override this with the help of Alfred. Thanks again!
  21. Hi all, I have been using the free version of Alfred for quite a while and I think that it works wonderfully well - at the basic level, better than Apple's Spotlight. What's keeping me from purchasing the Power Pack are a few key features I use a lot in Spotlight that seem to be absent from Alfred. I'm opening this topic to find out whether there's a way to implement those feature in Alfred, with the Power Pack or without. 1. Typing a number followed by a currency abbreviation yields a list of equivalent amounts in a handful of other currencies. 2. Typing a mathematical expression (e.g. 2+2) yields the answer (=4), without having to open the calculator. 3. Simply typing in a word, without the "define" prefix displays a dictionary definition (if that word exists, that is), without having to open the Dictionary app. 4. System Preferences integration and indexing in Spotlight is much deeper and much more intelligent. For example, simply typing "hot corners" shows the shortcut to the "Desktop & Screensaver" section in the System Preferences. 5. Moreover, is there a way to configure that opening a new folder will always be in the current tab, unless I click on the folder with some key combination, and it opens in a new tab? Thank you!
