pontus got a reaction from lycopodiopsida in Double down on JXA and Shell Script coding
The run script workflow object has always been the integral piece in all advanced workflows (to be honest a workflow with more than 10-15 objects is a nightmare even if you just want to edit a trigger).

Why not make the run script object into a mini IDE with a couple of  environments:
     - Apple automation
        - select language (JXA or apple script)
        - explore app dictionaries
        - explore and support UI accessibility scripting with built in tools
         - included framework for interacting with Alfred (items, settings etc)
    - Shell environment
         - zsh is default in macos so could be limited to that
        - separate outputs for stdout, errout
        - native support for file handling, text output etc.
         - included framework for interacting with Alfred (items, settings etc)

If it seems a bit too much, I would be very happy with just syntax highlighting

pontus got a reaction from mazerunner in Alfred gallery integrated in Alfred UI
It’s a huge success but have the smallest button in a corner of the app!
I had to download a workflow to get gallery workflows in my search result.

    Suggestions:
     - Gallery view is first thing you see when installing Alfred or opening settings or clicking menu bar icon.
     - Gallery view is graphic and nice, includes both installed workflows and not installed (with clear marking of course)
    - gallery suggestions as fallback results. for example when writing “timer”  the timer workflow could be suggested.
    - suggested workflow when running a related app (clock.app)
    - special treatment for workflows extending apples native apps (maps, home etc). Those will be perceived as almost native functionality in Alfred (think of similarities/differences between music.app features and Spotify workflow).

pontus reacted to luckman212 in Dependency Manager / Resolver - column for "used by"
The new "Resolve Dependencies" feature is pretty neat and handy! One possible change that would be useful is on this screen:

Instead of just listing the formulae needed, it would be nice for a column called "used by" or "used in" to list the workflow that requires it (if it's used by >1 then just listing the first one would be fine)

This way we could decide if we want to download a large package or potentially just do some housekeeping and remove a workflow that might no longer be useful.

This is so good it should be a native Alfred feature. Absolutely necessary for your productivity, not only can you do more without the mouse, you don't even have to create a Hotkey! I'm triggering it with Cmd+Space.

This one is unsigned so it cannot go in as is. It’s in Swift, so perhaps it could switch from being compiled to pasting the code in the language dropdown.

It’s important to note that not being in the Gallery does not prevent a workflow from being shared on GitHub as is, that doesn’t change.

Well that's embarrassing. Found an error in Notesy Oneupdater which means you won't get the new version.

Just updated to V1.5 which is a bit cleaner and requires one less shortcut.
    https://github.com/pearcenuk/Alfred-public/blob/main/Notesy/Notesy.alfredworkflow
Also the Append shortcut has been updated so opening the daily note via command odn doesn't put in a - as default each time.

Next update is likely after the new Shortcuts actions for Notes come out as I don't have a spare machine to play with betas right now, but the plan is you'll be able to choose the Notes folder as a variable in the workflow and won't need to edit the shortcuts or manually create a notes folder before you can use the workflow properly.

    Have fun.

If it has dependencies, say what those are unless they are explicit in the About or README.
This workflow is for working with the command line utility, SearchLink, so that app is a dependency.

Provide screenshots, unless valid ones are in the About or README.

    How to use it
    From the readme:
Slink is a helper workflow for Brett Terpstra's Search Link services, a small toolset to help you quickly generate Markdown links. You can download Search Link from its project page on Brett's web site. https://brettterpstra.com/projects/searchlink/ This helper workflow has two flows that can be triggered: SEARCH (sl) ----------- "sl" followed by your Search Link string will trigger the Search Link service against your search string, and copy the resulting Markdown link to the clipboard. Holding down the CMD key while executing this search will copy the resulting URL to the clipboard. Holding down the CTRL key while executing this search will open the resulting link in your default web browser. CONFIGURE SEARCH LINK (slc) --------------------------- "slc" will open the Search Link configuration file in the editor of your choice, as specified by the editorpath variable. CHANGE LOG ---------- 1.0.1 : Fixed subtitle wording on sl invocation. 1.0.0 : Initial release.

I am the author of this workflow and the forum link is here. This is the link to the Github main page for the workflow.

The workflow has no dependencies. It is used as a Universal Action on selected text:

The workflow converts double spaces after a word to a single space and a double space after certain (user configurable) characters to a single space. For example (and by default) double spaces after full stops (periods), question marks and exclamation marks are converted to single spaces. The amended text is optionally copied to the clipboard.

Note: version 1.1 dispenses with the environment variables used in version 1.0 and incorporates those variables within the workflow.
