  1. I just traded in a MacBook Pro running Ventura to a new 15" MacBook Air also running Ventura (13.4.1). Because I was pressed for time, I used the Migration Assistant to move everything over to the new laptop (first time I've ever done that and it went pretty smoothly). Unfortunately, Alfred can no longer seem to find any of my files. For example, Spotlight can find a file I open every day but Alfred doesn't seem to have a clue where it is. I opened Alfred's Advanced Settings and cleared the Application Cache and also clicked the Rebuild macOS Metadata button but that didn't appear to have any effect. I'm about to delete the .Spotlight-v100 file and see if that works. But if it doesn't, are there any other things I should try? Thanks!
  2. I solved the problem this way: 1. Open Alfred Preferences. 2. Go to Default Results > Search Scope. 3. Click the Reset... button. 4. Select Reset to Applications and Home.
  3. Since Dropbox moved their default location on Macs to ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox, Alfred can't find and open any files I store in Dropbox. Initially, I thought this was a Spotlight problem since, as I understand it, Alfred uses Spotlight to locate files. However, in my case Spotlight can find my Dropbox files just fine but Alfred can't. Is there a way to fix this problem? Thanks.
  4. Thanks! I'll give this a try. I expected this to be an Alfred setting but when I stop and think about how I've heard Alfred works (I think it uses Spotlight), this makes perfect sense.
  5. How do you exclude a particular folder from being indexed by Alfred so that it won't show up in Alfred's search results? I was looking for a setting that would allow you to specify folders (similar to how you can exclude things on a Mac by clicking a "-" sign and adding the path of the folder) but didn't see anything. I also searched the documentation but nothing turned up there either. Thanks!
  6. Thank you Vero. I'm not good at looking for things which is why I missed the Deactivate button in Powerpack Preferences.
  7. I recently purchased a PowerPack license. I now want to erase my Mac hard drive, re-install Monterey, and then upgrade to Ventura. Do I need to deactivate my PowerPack license before I do this so it won't look like I'm trying to use the license twice when I re-install Alfred? If so, how do I do this? Thanks!
  8. I'm new to Alfred PowerPack and Workflows and I want to create a workflow that will open any of my Gmail Inbox pages that I choose in a Chrome browser tab. I found this forum topic that supposedly describes how to do it but it's not working for me. When I type my Alfred keyboard shortcut and then type "gm", I see the Alfred titles I created in my workflow but when I select any of them, nothing happens. I think it's because the workflow doesn't know the URL to go to, but the article doesn't show how to configure the URL. If I open each Gmail inbox manually in a browser tab, these are the URLs: https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox https://mail.google.com/mail/u/3/#inbox How do I configure my workflow so that it will work? Thanks!
  9. Thanks Deanishe. What is the upper range for an acceptable percentage level of memory pressure?
  10. Does anyone else sees this error a lot when they activate Alfred using its keyboard shortcut? I see it a lot when I activate Alfred and type "open <filename>" in order to open a file. I have a one year old M1 mac Mini running macOS Big Sur that has 16 GB of RAM and Alfred 4.6.3. This always happens if I have a lot of applications open. If I look at iStat, I can see that I'm using a lot of memory even though hardly any of the eight cores are being used. Is Alfred starved for RAM even though the CPU isn't in use? My applications seem to run fine, I just have a problem using Alfred which is integral to my workflow I'd like to understand what's happening before I go out and buy a more powerful Mac. Thanks for your advice!
  11. Hmmm. Good question. It appears to not read the vimrc there either as tabs aren't converted to spaces (this is a setting I have in my .vimrc). I guess that removes Alfred from the equation. Thanks.
  12. Since I work with a lot of ASCII text files which I like to edit with MacVim, I've set my macOS so that all files with a .txt extension are opened with MacVim. Then, if I want to edit one on the fly, I can just type my Alfred keyboard shortcut and then type "open somefile.txt" and Alfred will open it in MacVim. But what I've noticed is that MacVim doesn't appear to be reading my ~/.vimrc file when I open files using Alfred as the settings I have in that file aren't set in MacVim when the file is opened. On the other hand, if I were to open and terminal window and change to the directory where the file is located and open it using MacVim from the command line "mvim -v somefile.txt", all my vim settings are present. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this happening because I'm opening MacVim using Alfred? If so, is there a way to fix it? Thanks.
  13. Thanks! I've added my email address. I use Alfred constantly so this would be a big help.
  14. Is it possible to create an Alfred "function?" What I'd like to do is type in my Alfred hotkey and type something like "diff(20,10)" and it would tell me the change between a starting price (10) and an ending price (20), i.e. calculate (20-10)/10. I know I can type that literal string in but I'm lazy and would like to just call a function. Thanks.
  15. Hi. I'm new to Alfred. Can I configure Alfred so that whenever I open a file having an extension ".py", it will use my Vim editor application to open it? I couldn't find how to do this by searching the documentation but I think it's because I didn't know the correct way to frame my question. Thanks!
