    Hi guys.

The build-in Finder tab feature is awesome in Mavericks.

And here is a little workflow to merge all current Finder windows into one single window with tabs.

    Hope it can help.

This is an awesome workflow and I use it daily but since upgrading to Mavericks yesterday it has stopped working.
If I type FTP then it doesn't do anything instead shows the google search. here is a quick screencast of it.

Any ideas how to fix this? I have tried reinstalling the workflow.

    Thanks.

mixterdee reacted to David in Strip formatting from clipboard text
Hi, this is probably the shortest and easiest workflow ever but i thought i'd post it anyway in case anyone finds it useful aswell. It simply removes the formatting from the text on the clipboard.

So, if you copy some text from Firefox and paste it in an E-mail, often the pasted text will have a different font/text size/bold,italic formatting than the alredy present text in your e-mail.
To solve this i use "Cmd + C" , "Alfred -> Strclip" , "Cmd + V", and the text will now be pasted with the correct formatting.

There's also a native OS X shortcut for this (Cmd + Alt + Shift + V), however it doesn't work in a lot of Applications (for example Pages) and also... pressing those 4 buttons is nearly impossible

    ----
EDIT: added option to "strip and paste".

This is probably only useful for a handful of people who seem to spend a lot of time looking at Google Pagespeed Insights (like me), but I thought I'd share it nevertheless.

Usage is very simple; open the site in Safari or Chrome, bring Alfred up, and type "pagespeed". It will open the results in a new tab, and is smart enough to use the browser that was on top.

As this is my first Workflow, please let me know if you run into any bugs.

The cool feature is the possibility to see current status of hidden files directly in Alfred (in the subtitle of the extension).

mixterdee reacted to AlfredFreak in Gmail in Chrome Workflow
Hi, I made this for myself and thought I'd share.
I'm a heavy Gmail user, and I think Gmail works best in Chrome. I wanted to always have a Gmail tab open, and to *not* open multiple Gmail tabs when I use the workflow from other applications.   I also wanted the Gmail tab to always be pinned to the left. It can't be done via AppleScript, so I'm using a Chrome Extension called Auto Pin URL. Get it if you want the Gmail tab pinned left (it's not required for the workflow to function. Without it, your Gmail tab will be *wherever* in Chrome):
    https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/auto-pin-url/heodenddhgffdcadgghkghlcjjikaahf
Here is the URL you will need to add to Auto Pin URL: https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/
Here's the features of the workflow (keyword / explanation):
gm - GMail. Whatever you're doing, this brings Chrome to the front and activates the Gmail tab. If there's no Gmail tab, it will create one (and Auto Pin URL will move it to the far left). I have assigned it Shift-Control-z
gmn - GMail New. Open a new compose window. (This is the lone exception in that it opens a new tab. I don't like the new compose window you get by typing c in gmail.) I have assigned Shift-Control-x. This tab auto closes once you send the mail.
    gms - GMail Search
gmf - GMail From. Search for sender
gmt - Gmail To. Search for recipient
gmc - GMail Contacts. Search Gmail contacts
gmgi - GMail Inbox ("gi" is Gmail's default Inbox shortcut)
gmgt - GMail Sent. Sent items. ("gt" is Gmail's default Sent Mail shortcut)
gmga - GMail All Mail. All mail. ("ga" is Gmail's default All Mail shortcut)
NOTE: I made this for my Google Apps account. Haven't tested it on a regular gmail account, but I bet it works fine. I'm no AppleScript expert, so my code may be crappy. Buy hey, this workflow works great for me.

URL History is one of the few items that doesn't sync automatically. Some options and data in Alfred is stored on a per machine basis. The URL History would be repopulated as you visited those sites but if you must have the settings from the previous machine, I believe that ~/Library/Application Support/Alfred 2/Databases/urlhistory.alfdb is the file that you are looking for.

    About QuickCursor

Altough I didn’t use QuickCursor because it was already unavailable due OSX sandbox, I find myself every now and then needing something like it.

    Overview

You start typing in one application (e.g. a forum post, an email or a script in Apple Editor) then you realize you need a better editor or just want to type using your default text editor.

The common thing to do is select the text, copy it to the clipboard, open the text Editor, start a New Document then paste the content. After done you have to select the text, copy it to the clipboard then bring the initial application and finally paste the new content.

It’s not that hard but it can be faster...

    Usage
in the initial application optionally select some text bring Alfred and type the keyword editwith now select your text editor: just start typing to find it and hit return key the editor will be opened with the text you have selected initially or blank if there was no text initially after writing, bring Alfred and type the keyword pasteback (the workflow will select the text automatically) the previous application will be displayed and the text will be pasted back In addition, the workflow saves the last used text editor so you can easily use it with a hotkey:
Optionally select text in the initial application Hit the Edit with hotkey labeled “Copy” (the first one in the workflow) After writing hit the second hotkey named “Paste Back”. Done. You can also utilize the keyword pastebbcode so you can convert markdown into BBCode and then paste to the initial application. It can be very handy if you'd like to write a forum post with your Markdown text editor. The conversion is based on Markdown to BBCode workflow. Check the supported Markdown syntax in the workflow help (keyword editwith?).

DJ Pedro - Create iTunes playlist based on Last.fm similar artists
(Updated 10/11/2015 - Fix for broken Last.fm API links)

This workflow uses the Last.fm API for "similar artists" to create and play a playlist based on either the artist of the currently playing song or an artist searched for within the local iTunes Library. The workflow does not require that you use Last.fm, it only pulls information from their database using their API. (i.e., no scrobbling required.)

DJ Pedro now lives on the wonderful Packal repository. The best reason for you to get this version is that Packal will handle tracking any future updates so you no longer need to watch this thread.

    Get the Packal version here

The workflow is triggered by a hotkey or the keyword "dj", and if an argument is added the workflow searches your iTunes library for artists that match the query.

NEW: I added a couple Alfred Remote triggers to the workflow, the best one allows you to create a DJ Pedro playlist from anywhere in your house via the currently playing iTunes track. This is a feature I have wanted since originally creating the workflow. :-)
You can add the individual trigger(s) to your own custom Remote page or use the DJ Pedro Remote Page. It's fairly minimal at the moment, but I'm considering adding a Favorites feature since we can't yet type directly into an Alfred window via the remote.

NEW: If you use my Last.fm and/or Discogs workflows you can now trigger those from results in DJ Pedro's Suggested Artist list using modifier keys. I tend to think that's pretty sweet.

Settings for the workflow can be modified by triggering the "djprefs" script filter. Available modifications are:
Playlist name Number of tracks in the created playlist Search limit for 'similar artists' the workflow requests from Last.fm. Maximum tracks per artist added to the playlist. Enable/disable the notification that lists any artists suggested by Last.fm that were not found in your Library.
    Credits/Acknowledgments:
Much of the script for displaying artists and their artwork was borrowed from the great "Play Song" workflow, by "caleb531", which you should download if you don't have it yet. Additional scripting was improved by using the qWorkflow library developed by "ursanrazvan". Yes, DJ Pedro is named after our cat.
    Notes:
This workflow creates a folder in your iTunes folder called "Alfred Album Artwork" for easy access to album artwork icons. This folder should be extremely small and is easily deleted if you delete the workflow.
    Known/Possible Issues:
Because of the way iTunes 11 handles playlists, there's a pause/un-pause coded into DJ Pedro at the start of playback. If Apple ever provides a better way to deal with Up Next, besides GUI scripting, I'll update this.
I'm an amateur coder, so please be kind to my messy code, etc. Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated!
I hope this workflow helps you enjoy your music a little bit more.

mixterdee reacted to ctwise in Menu Search
The previously released menu search workflow has been universally panned due to the poor performance of the AppleScript that dumps menu contents. The caching of results worked very poorly as a stop-gap. So, I've re-written the menu extraction in Objective-C. It's much faster. The source is here: https://github.com/ctwise/alfred-workflows

You can download the workflow directly from http://tedwi.se/u/db

To recap, this workflow lets you trigger an application's menu's from Alfred. For example, if you're in iTerm and trigger Alfred, you can type 'm view' to get a list of all menu items with 'view' in the name or that belong to the 'view' menu. Selecting one of the entries triggers the corresponding menu entry in iTerm. In one sense it gives you a command-line to control your applications.

The workflow has the beginnings of shortcut key display as well but it's currently disabled due to numerous bugs.

    Update:

v1.3 - Provide error message when assistive devices isn't checked.
v1.2 - Skip the Safari History and Bookmarks menus. They take too long.
v1.1 - I fixed the bug with Alfred not remembering selections and added AlleyOop support. Download from the same link.

    Requires OS/X 10.7+.

    ---

You need to turn on OS/X assistive device support to allow this workflow to operate. You can find the checkbox in Settings. The settings page looks very different in recent versions of OS/X but the wording for providing access for assistive devices is very similar no matter what OS/X version you're using. Here's an image of the settings from the latest version of Mountain Lion.

    Introduction

With the introduction of Alfred v2.0, the built-in iTunes mini player is now the only way to interact with my iTunes library in Alfred. However, I would prefer to quickly search for and play songs without entering the mini player first. Therefore, I created Play Song—a workflow designed to make playing songs in iTunes extremely quick and convenient.

    Download

    Download Play Song (latest)

    Usage

Play Song enables five keywords which allow you to search for and play songs in your iTunes library.
In order for Play Song to function properly, it requires access to assistive devices. You can enable this for Alfred via the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences.

Playing a song   To play an individual song, use the playsong keyword. Songs whose names match your query will populate the list of results. Choosing a song from the list will play that song once.   Playing an album   To play all songs from a particular album, use the playalbum keyword. Albums whose names match your query will populate the list of results. Choosing an album from the list will play all songs from that album (ordered by track number).   Playing an artist   To play all songs by a particular artist, use the playartist keyword. Artists whose names match your query will populate the list of results. Choosing a artist from the list will play all songs by that artist (grouped by album).   Playing a genre   To play all songs within a particular genre, use the playgenre keyword. Genres whose names match your query will populate the list of results. Choosing a genre from the list will play all songs within that genre (grouped by artist).   Playing a playlist   To play all songs within a particular playlist, use the playplaylist keyword. Non-empty playlists whose names match your query will populate the list of results. Choosing a playlist from the list will play all songs within that playlist (according to playlist order).
