  1. Thanks for the input. I checked the Composing tab (not General) to confirm that the default mail account was the one I wanted, not Outlook. It was configured correctly.

In checking the General tab, I discovered that Chrome was set as the default reader for email and not Mail.app. Once I changed that setting, everything with Alfred returned to normal.

Thanks for the input and help!

  2. I often use Alfred to compose an email on the fly to one of my contacts. In the past, it would find my contact and open the card. I'd then highlight the email address and hit Enter. From there it would open a new blank message in Mail, properly addressed to the person I want to send it to.

Since installing Monterey, Alfred opens a browser tab and tries to go to Outlook.com instead of going to Mail and creating a new message form. Why is that happening, and is there a place in Preferences to change it?

    Thanks much!

  3. Vero, you're absolutely right about the source of this problem. The Dictionary app did not install any content when 10.13.1 was installed. I've never experienced that before in all the time I've been working with Apple, but still should have checked it before posting.

If I still have problems after the dictionaries are installed, I'll report back.

    Thanks again!

  4. I'm seeing a great deal of latency while using Alfred v2.5.1 (308). It manifests itself by a delay in displaying the Alfred input window and jerking and hesitant recognition of input.

I'm currently using a pre-release of Yosemite 10.10.1 (14B23). I'm on a mid-2010 MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM. Any other reports of this behavior?

For the record, I am seeing latency in other services, particularly typing, and I'm trying to track down the culprit. Since Alfred is central to my workflow, I wanted to make sure that no one else was having this issue while running Yosemite.

    Thanks!

  5. I'd like to create a workflow that takes a file and copys it to a specific location. As an example, I'd like to assign a key combo to a workflow that would allow me to take a highlighted file and automatically copy it to a folder called dailies. If one exists, I'd sure appreciate it if someone would point me to it. If it doesn't yet exist, can someone tell me how to create it?

    Many thanks!!

  6. I came across this post and would like to do the same thing, but always have the file I've selected in Pathfinder sent to Photoshop. My default for images is ViewIt and I don't want to change that. If, however, an image needs some retouching or work, I'd like to automatically send it to Photoshop with a keystroke combination.

I understand the Cmd+Opt+\ function, but that requires me to choose Photoshop as the application each time. Is there a way that I can use Open With and always have the image go to Photoshop?

Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer and I'm not sure how to pull this off in Alfred.

In advance, thanks to anyone who can help me with this.

  7. Jack, now it's working. Thanks for the quick fixes! The only disappointing news is that notifications have stopped again, even after I run your Notes workflow, which does show a notification. Go figure.

As always, thanks for all of your efforts on behalf of those using Alfred. I wish I had your expertise in coding!

  8. Jack, we're in different time zones so October 23 at 12:01PM is still about 2 hours off for me, more at the time of the screen capture. My own 2¢ would be that noon, midnight, and tomorrow would be good to add.

  9. Jack, thanks for all the detective work! The QXPScriptingAdditions.osax is most likely a remnant of a version of QuarkXpress I had installed a few years ago and removed. I deleted the file this morning but it hasn't made much difference one way or the other.

There are a couple compatibility problems with Alfred that Mavericks has introduced. Besides notifications, definitions are also broken because Spotlight now handles them differently.

No change in the process of trying to add a reminder with the updated workflow. Here's a quick screen shot of what happens when I try and add "RADD on today 12:01pm Call Jack James". The only successful way I've found to get your script to work is to use "RADD today Call Jack James".

Hopefully Apple will get this sorted out quickly. I see they closed the beta program on Mavericks yesterday which means there should be a new one opening for 10.9.1 in the very near future. If the osax problem isn't fixed at the release of that build, I, too, will file a ticket with development and see if we can't get their attention!

  10. Jack, I'm running 13A603 which was posted yesterday. For the record, you can get it via the MAS. When you try and download it it'll tell you that you already have it installed and do you want to re-download the entire installer. Click continue and after it's reinstalled, you'll see you have 13A603.

Yes, I'm running 2.09, build 214 of Alfred.

Here is the rtest you requested.

Also, am I missing something that I can't insert a time into the RADD line. As an example, RADD Today at noon Call Jack James. As soon as I enter time it turns into a Google search, which is my default for unrecognized text in Alfred.

  11. Jack, I'm having some problems using this workflow with the Mavericks GM. First, in the Privacy panel in SysPrefs, the osascript opion is not available.

Second, using the default of "r" and using the syntax you've described opens a search in Chrome, and doesn't create a Reminder. As an example, r at noon to Check Twitter simply sends the line to Chrome as a search.

    Any ideas what's happening??

  12. I'm running the GM of Mavericks and notice that Define (I use the letter D to activate it) no longer seems to connect to Dictionary and display the definition as it did in Mountain Lion. Is this a change in Mavericks and will Alfred compensate for it in a future release? For the record, I notice that Spotlight has the same behavior, which is why I assume this behavior is happening in Alfred.
