  1. SOLVED! - Spotlight preferences "privacy" tab had the entire "System" folder blocked... went in, deleted from the block list, reindexed... and it's all good. No idea how that folder had ended up blocked! WTF?
  2. So, it's Alfred 4.2.1 On Catalina From the looks of things, there's NO metadata for the apps that aren't showing up. (this is after running all the Onyx and command lines found in the threads here in forums) Is there a way to rebuild that metadata without a wholesale reinstall of the OS? here's what the troubleshooting tool reveals: Starting Diagnostics... File: 'Activity Monitor.app' Path: '/System/Applications/Utilities' ----------------------------------------------------------- Check file cache database... ✅ File cache integrity is ok ----------------------------------------------------------- Check if file is readable... ✅ Alfred has permissions to read this file. ----------------------------------------------------------- Check file is in search scope... ✅ File exists within Alfred's default search scope ----------------------------------------------------------- Check if volume '/' is indexed by macOS... ✅ Indexing is enabled on this drive ----------------------------------------------------------- Check direct file metadata... ✅ Direct metadata available Display Name: Activity Monitor.app Other Names: Content Type: com.apple.application-bundle Last Used: 2020-06-06 06:28:57 +0000 ----------------------------------------------------------- Check mdls file metadata... ❌ macOS metadata missing essential items kMDItemFSContentChangeDate = 2020-06-06 06:28:57 +0000 kMDItemFSCreationDate = 2020-06-06 06:28:57 +0000 kMDItemFSCreatorCode = "" kMDItemFSFinderFlags = 0 kMDItemFSHasCustomIcon = 0 kMDItemFSInvisible = 0 kMDItemFSIsExtensionHidden = 0 kMDItemFSIsStationery = 0 kMDItemFSLabel = 0 kMDItemFSName = "Activity Monitor.app" kMDItemFSNodeCount = 1 kMDItemFSOwnerGroupID = 0 kMDItemFSOwnerUserID = 0 kMDItemFSSize = 1 kMDItemFSTypeCode = "" ----------------------------------------------------------- ❌ Troubleshooting failed
  3. I'm having same issue... Alfred not finding apps, so useless as a launcher. This all began after upgrade to Catalina (which was a clean install) Interestingly, though, for me, it's only the MacOS built-in apps (photos, garageband, music, maps, etc.) that aren't found. Any other apps I've installed (either through the app store show up just fine. Any suggestions how to get them reindexed or "typed" properly?
  4. I'm having the same issue ever since upgrading to Alfred4 For me, it seems mainly to be Apple's apps that aren't showing up in the index... Safari, Pages, Keynote and Numbers are fine. But Terminal, Activity Monitor, Music, Photos, PhotoBooth, Quicktime, etc... no luck. Did apple lock them down somehow, or move them... or ? Also... I notice that under Security and Privacy - "Automation", Alfred 3 is still showing up, but Alfred 4 is not... and there's no+- button to add it manually.
  5. Hi all, hoping for some help. Is Alfred able to detect and act upon a device being connected to the system? for instance: Scanner plugged into USB ---> launch scanner software Scanner unplugged ---> quit software Thanks in advance
