I’m also experiencing this with Alfred 5.5.1 [2273] and macOS 15.0.1, on an M1 Mac Studio Ultra where preferences live on the main disk and sync via SyncThing. It’s the same deal on an M1 MacBook Air with the same software versions.
It’s really tough to say when the delay started because it’s so intermittent, and like others say the only pattern seems to be that Alfred dozes off randomly if left for too long.
It was only obvious by the time I’d switched from Raycast back to Alfred in September. (Raycast is uninstalled now and no longer listening for ⌘+SPACE—I also followed these instructions and double-checked that there aren’t any system conflicts.)
I’ve been syncing preferences with Syncthing for a while now, and Dropbox before that, and aside from Alfred and macOS updates nothing has changed significantly for a few years.
I wish there were secret launch delay stats to look at and try to come up theories. The only thing I’m confident about is that it never happens twice in a row, but only when Alfred has been inactive for “a while.”
Search scope attached, and I’ll email my diagnostics now.
Edit: Forgot to mention I used Alfred alongside Raycast with ⌥+SPACE being Alfred’s trigger, and more recently F16 just to see if a different hotkey had any impact. The random delay occurs with all three!
