Ddyracer got a reaction from federicodeobeso in Workflow to open/reveal in finder
If you double click the hotkey, a dialog window comes up, then type into the text field at the bottom of the window.
Glad I finally understood, It was stupid of me to not improvise here.

Ddyracer reacted to hgl in Pronounce dictionary words
It would be great if alfred could pronounce the word being searched with the dictionary feature, either using the system TTS or playing an online audio file (many online dictionaries provides such files, not sure about the legal stuff though).
An intuitive method to pronounce words might be alt + enter or ctrl + enter, the current behaviour for both combinations is merely web search, so I guess it's harmless to override one of them.

Ddyracer reacted to Ddyracer in Sync and backup
Backups stored forever.
If you mean query history its stored for 5 minutes and can stay for 20 searches if you use the up arrow. Then, It refreshes to the latest searches.

Ddyracer reacted to gaoruijie in Sync and backup
Dear alfred team,
I want to know, how long my preference will be backup in the APP? It seems that there is no option to choose the time, like one day or one week.
Another questions, Does my history in Alfred will be saved in my alfred preferences?
thanks for your help
Robert

Ddyracer reacted to ctwise in Menu Search
The previously released menu search workflow has been universally panned due to the poor performance of the AppleScript that dumps menu contents. The caching of results worked very poorly as a stop-gap. So, I've re-written the menu extraction in Objective-C. It's much faster. The source is here: https://github.com/ctwise/alfred-workflows
You can download the workflow directly from http://tedwi.se/u/db
To recap, this workflow lets you trigger an application's menu's from Alfred. For example, if you're in iTerm and trigger Alfred, you can type 'm view' to get a list of all menu items with 'view' in the name or that belong to the 'view' menu. Selecting one of the entries triggers the corresponding menu entry in iTerm. In one sense it gives you a command-line to control your applications.
The workflow has the beginnings of shortcut key display as well but it's currently disabled due to numerous bugs.
Update:
v1.3 - Provide error message when assistive devices isn't checked.
v1.2 - Skip the Safari History and Bookmarks menus. They take too long.
v1.1 - I fixed the bug with Alfred not remembering selections and added AlleyOop support. Download from the same link.
Requires OS/X 10.7+.
---
You need to turn on OS/X assistive device support to allow this workflow to operate. You can find the checkbox in Settings. The settings page looks very different in recent versions of OS/X but the wording for providing access for assistive devices is very similar no matter what OS/X version you're using. Here's an image of the settings from the latest version of Mountain Lion.

Ddyracer got a reaction from egla in Just another minimalistic Theme [Light, Dark & El Capitan version] - Now with updated Fonts for El Capitan
Will the theme work if you make it yourself? I don't think this will help but, personally you may have moved the theme folder, just a guess.

Ddyracer reacted to Subject22 in Blur Alfred
A while back Andrew posted a technique for setting the degree to which Alfred's window blurs the background immediately behind it and CarlosNZ posted a workflow for changing this setting via Alfred. I got sick of having to restart Alfred every time I changed this so I added some code to automate the process. I thought I might as well post it here, just in case anyone was looking for something along these lines :-) Please bear in mind what Andrew said about this hack:

This will save me quite some time, I'm gonna use this hack more often now.

Ddyracer reacted to ckizer in Cheeky little transparency blur hack for themes
I just want to make sure the author is looking far into the future. I get nervous about dedicating myself to a new app, if something superior will come along and replace it.
OS X 10.9 will be coming in the summer and from what I've already seen Apple is going to make key improvements to the dock (as in biggest changes since launch of OS X) and to spotlight. They've taken notice of the Ubuntu “spotlight” style menus.
It's easy to rethink and design what someone did but the point i find is you don't have to spend 10 or so minutes changing things because it's themed for you. That's why I share mine anyway, it just makes it easier for someone to DL or do some minor changes to his liking. And to show off my crappy theming

Ddyracer reacted to Subject22 in Empty Downloads folder workflow
I like to keep my computer tidy and that means that I often shift the contents of ~/Downloads to the Trash. Doing things manually is so last year, so I made a simple workflow to automate the process.
Download: Trash Downloads
Keyword: trash downloads

Ddyracer reacted to Andrew in contacts not showing
If contacts is ticked under Alfred's Features > Default Result prefs, you may have answered "no" when Alfred asked for access to your contacts. Take a look in OS X's Security & Privacy > Privacy > Contacts to make sure Alfred 2 is ticked.
If ticked, try unticking and reticking.

The hotkey is the best feature, nice workflow though.

Ddyracer reacted to Andrew in Mac App Store V2
The Sandbox actually prohibits OS X integration by keeping all apps separate and independent, much like an iOS app.
Alfred uses OS X's Gatekeeper / Developer ID technology which allows Alfred to keep you safe like a sandboxed app but also allows deep integration into OS X and other applications, something which is essential for Alfred to work.
As such, Alfred is available exclusively from our website and not through the Mac App Store.

Ddyracer reacted to Ddyracer in Mac App Store V2
Woah, thats oxymoron. Alfred is integrated yet not sandboxed.

Ddyracer reacted to Ddyracer in Mac App Store V2
Will it ever be updated to 2.0? It's not too big a deal for me but for someone who likes getting everything from the MAS it could be an issue.
Edit: forgot the t in the title can a mod fix it?

You may not know about this: iTunes Store Workflow. It has the Mac App Store as well. It's by Daniel Shannon.

This version opens not web browser, but 'App Store' application. So you can reduce one step to buy application. :-)
