It’s (somewhat) obvious but only when making a new Workflow — not when editing an existing one — because you have no other choice other than right clicking.
 

Hadn't noticed the PLUS had gone. I guess it is rather non-obvious now.
 
Right-click on a blank spot on the "canvas" to add a new element. It will show a list of all the things you can add.
 
You can also copy and paste existing elements.
 
To connect elements, hover your mouse over one, then drag the "nub" to the element you want to connect it to. Alternatively, right-click on and element and choose from the Insert Before and Insert After menus.

I have looked for an HOUR to find out how to use hot keys.  Nothing!
I finally went back to v1.   Why did you make it so damn complicated?
You ruined a good thing with v2....waaaaaay too much to read. 
REmember,  we are POWER users....we want FAST.....we want SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!!!1

For the sheer number of hotkeys that I'm recreating from v1, and the already large number of workflows I'm already using (awesome stuff from people here in the forums!); it would be great if the v1 hotkeys windows was brought into v2.  Not only is it faster to setup, but it's much easier to see what is using which key combinations,  and it would help keep the volume of workflows down in the workflows screen. As well, for new Alfred users, it would be a lot easier to set up than having them have to understand the workflows.
