  1. Thanks Stephen for your commitment! If I had the resources, I would've done a fresh install of Alfred (without my user settings) to see if the workflow behaved differently. It's best to isolate the variable as much as you can. However, given the circumstance, I'm content to have found a workaround that allows the workflow to function for me. Perhaps sometime in the future, this unresolved mystery will reveal itself to me. I'm grateful that you took the time to address my saga as it shows your commitment to the workflow you've created. I look forward to any future release you may have up your sleeve. In version 2.3, as you've mentioned, you added "Don't close the Alfred window on actioning result". I'd like to mention that it was the second node (right after Keyword Input "Text - Find & Replace") where check-marking this option worked for me. I searched for a term not found in my text selection, an error message popped up (as it should). However, the Alfred window did not retain focus nor did it become visible once again, enabling a new search. I tried check-marking "Don't close the Alfred window…" on the third node (right after Keyword Input "Replace {var:find}"). Unfortunately, this did not remedy the issue. Other users not mentioning this issue tells me it might be an isolated issue. If I ever solve this case, you'll be the first to know…
  2. I clicked on the square node and check marked "Don't close the Alfred window on actioning result". After entering "cat", the second prompt appeared. I was able to replace "cat" with "dog" in my text selection in TextEdit. Also, I was able to copy it to the clipboard. When I entered a word that was not in the text selection, it returned the query as not found. Bearing in mind, this does not solve our mystery, nor does it function the way you intended for your workflow. Here's what we have when I first entered "cat": [18:10:09.891] Find and replace text[Universal Action] Processing complete [18:10:09.897] Find and replace text[Universal Action] Passing output 'The cat sat on the mat.' to Arg and Vars [18:10:09.898] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Processing complete [18:10:09.899] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Passing output '' to Automation Task [18:10:09.899] Find and replace text[Automation Task] Running task 'Identify Frontmost App' with no arguments [18:10:10.100] Find and replace text[Automation Task] Processing complete [18:10:10.105] Find and replace text[Automation Task] Passing output 'TextEdit' to Arg and Vars [18:10:10.106] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Processing complete [18:10:10.107] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Passing output '' to Keyword [18:10:12.346] Find and replace text[Keyword] Processing complete [18:10:12.350] Find and replace text[Keyword] Passing output 'cat' to Arg and Vars [18:10:12.351] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Processing complete [18:10:12.352] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Passing output '' to Keyword [18:10:14.010] Find and replace text[Keyword] Processing complete [18:10:14.015] Find and replace text[Keyword] Passing output 'dog' to Arg and Vars [18:10:14.016] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Processing complete [18:10:14.017] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Passing output '' to Arg and Vars [18:10:14.019] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Processing complete [18:10:14.020] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Passing output 'The cat sat on the mat.' to Conditional [18:10:14.022] Find and replace text[Conditional] Processing complete [18:10:14.023] Find and replace text[Conditional] Passing output 'The cat sat on the mat.' to Replace [18:10:14.024] Find and replace text[Replace] Processing complete [18:10:14.033] Find and replace text[Replace] Passing output 'The dog sat on the mat.' to Arg and Vars [18:10:14.035] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Processing complete [18:10:14.036] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Passing output 'The dog sat on the mat.' to Dialog Conditional [18:10:16.961] Find and replace text[Dialog Conditional] Processing complete [18:10:16.964] Find and replace text[Dialog Conditional] Passing output 'The dog sat on the mat.' to Arg and Vars [18:10:16.965] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Processing complete [18:10:16.966] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Passing output '' to Automation Task [18:10:16.966] Find and replace text[Automation Task] Running task 'Open Apps' with arguments ( "" ) [18:10:17.100] Find and replace text[Automation Task] Processing complete [18:10:17.105] Find and replace text[Automation Task] Passing output '' to Copy to Clipboard
  3. Yes, I downloaded straight from the gallery. After quitting all applications except TextEdit, I ran the workflow twice. First for "cat", nothing happens. Second for "dog", nothing happens. Both times, I waited for the second prompt to appear, but it never does. No error message either.
  4. I ran the workflow on a laptop. The output is the same. Although, my Alfred setup is exactly the same as my desktop.
  5. I see. Either plain text or <>. Thanks Stephen. 7. Stephen, no worries. I have patience for what we're doing. It's a mystery and we're hoping to resolve it. Besides, I find the workflow you've made quite useful. I reinstalled the workflow. Ran it again in TextEdit. Entered "Elephant" and nothing happens. Here's what I have: [09:58:59.531] Logging Started... 9. Hello Stephen: I was using an app that can't be seen as a frontmost app by Alfred. However, I did have Safari opened in the background. On a different note, I'll reply sooner next time as I was expecting an email notification for any replies to the thread. As you suggested, I opened TextEdit and here's what I have: [06:13:48.950] Find and replace text[Universal Action] Processing complete [06:13:48.957] Find and replace text[Universal Action] Passing output 'The cat sat on the mat' to Arg and Vars [06:13:48.959] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Processing complete [06:13:48.960] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Passing output '' to Automation Task [06:13:48.961] Find and replace text[Automation Task] Running task 'Identify Frontmost App' with no arguments [06:13:49.151] Find and replace text[Automation Task] Processing complete [06:13:49.154] Find and replace text[Automation Task] Passing output 'TextEdit' to Arg and Vars [06:13:49.155] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Processing complete [06:13:49.156] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Passing output '' to Keyword [06:13:50.821] Find and replace text[Keyword] Processing complete [06:13:50.826] Find and replace text[Keyword] Passing output 'cat' to Arg and Vars [06:13:50.827] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Processing complete [06:13:50.828] Find and replace text[Arg and Vars] Passing output '' to Keyword
  10. Automation tasks are up to date with 2023.2, I have auto update checkmarked. Also, I reinstalled tasks. Then, ran the workflow once again. 11. Hello Stephen. First, I entered a word to be replaced, and pressed return. After which, I waited for the prompt to enter the replacement word, but it never shows up. Can you have a look? Find & Replace Text v2.2 Alfred 5.1.1 Ventura 13.4.1
  12. The following worked for me. My advanced settings were set to: Alfred Preferences > Advanced > Force Keyboard > Blank (by default) I changed it from Blank to U.S. The action modifier alt + ↵ now functions as it should. In the past, I left it blank by default. I've been using it for regular file searches. Thanks for the advices you gave me.
  13. I set both action modifiers (control and command) to Search with Finder. Then set alt/option to anything but Search with Finder. ctrl + ↵ = Search with Finder alt + ↵ = Search with default web search cmd + ↵ = Search with Finder Both control and command execute their actions, except alt/option. I haven't figured out why.
  14. Under Advanced Preferences, I've set the following: ctrl + ↵ = Search with default web search alt + ↵ = Search with Finder cmd + ↵ = Reveal in Finder Everything works fine, except: alt + ↵ = Search with Finder. After pressing return, nothing happens. If you can figure out what's going on, please let me know.
  15. Opened the workflow, double-clicked on Automation Task, and clicked Update Tasks. The workflow now functions. Thanks for replying so swiftly.
