Not a clue. It's exactly the same code, as far as I can tell.

Not if you also tell Finder to do the deleting. There'll be two operations on the undo stack, instead of one, but I wouldn't call that messed up. It's arguably better that way because the first undo would restore the originals from the trash, which will be a lot quicker than copying them back over from another volume.

Hi @dampearth, welcome to the forum.

Those are Alfred's fallback searches. They're shown if a workflow returns no results.

We can't possibly diagnose an issue without more information than that. If a workflow isn't working properly, check the debugger for error messages and always include them in your posts.

Please excuse the intrusion—especially if you feel it's irrelevant, but… I have posted previously about macOS (both Big Sur and Monterey) falsely considering secure input is enabled. Aside from doing what you suggest to see which apps are at fault I've discovered this can often happen if you have a MacBook Pro which unlocks from an Apple Watch. On many occasions when I've discovered the problem (usualy because my Typinator text expander app stops working) I can instantly fix the problem by locking my MacBook Pro (using Alfred, of course!) and then unlocking it using Touch ID. I reported the apparent bug to Apple at least two years ago.

I mention this only in case it helps anyone who may be in a similar position (i.e., unlocking with an Apple Watch).

Like Safari Assistant, but for Firefox.

    Download from GitHub.

Search Firefox bookmarks Search Firefox browsing history Run bookmarklets Activate & close tabs Add you own custom scripts
The workflow requires you to install a corresponding Firefox extension in order to communicate with Firefox.

After installing the workflow, run ffass > Install Firefox Extension to get the extension. Once the extension is installed, everything should just work.

The workflow is fairly customisable. You can add your own URL actions via scripts, set custom icons, and assign URL & tab actions and bookmarklets to alternate hotkeys.

    See the documentation for details.

To add to this, the matching algo is different to Alfred’s main search, too, so I can’t use the same keywords. I’ve trained Alfred to associate Affinity Designer and Photo with affd and affp respectively in its main search. But neither of these queries match the applications inside the Open With action.

I think it's very important to have consistent matching behaviour across Alfred's core because keyword–application associations should and do become deeply ingrained.

If you have malicious software running on your system that can sniff your clipboard, it can almost certainly steal or subvert other things, too, and your goose is already cooked. Putting passwords on the pasteboard is perfectly common. The important thing is to mark the data as transient (which Alfred's Copy to Clipboard can do), so clipboard history managers like Alfred don't remember it.

If you're planning to immediately paste the password, it might be a good idea to clear the clipboard after a few seconds.

From your screenshot, your TM volumes are all called .timemachine. Did you try adding that name to the Exclude list? Adding *.backup would probably also do the trick.

Sounds perfectly sensible, tbh. "Indexing" is the term we always use, so it would be a good idea to use it in the text of the link to the main page on the topic. Perhaps "Alfred can't find the files I'm searching for (indexing issues)" would be a better link text?

Oh dear dear me… this is 100% my bad, how embarrassing. You are of course right, and I am a giant doofus.

(Once I'd found the article in the forum and returned to the troubleshooting page to look for it, I was searching for "index" with no luck)

This workflow combines a web search with a history.

Edit the Open URL to change the site that's searched (by default, it's DuckDuckGo).

You'll need to have Python 3 installed, either via Homebrew or Apple's Developer Tools.

Nope, afraid not. Chrome doesn't expose an API for manipulating tab groups.

Chrome extensions may be able to manipulate tab groups, but there's no way to do it from outside Chrome.

That's exactly what I do. I extract the match strings from database for each app and put them in the 'match' field for filtering.

Maybe not this specifically, but the disappearance of /usr/bin/php is worth addressing. A huge number of workflows use it, and it would be useful if Alfred could make anything specifying /usr/bin/php transparently run with a Homebrew PHP instead.

Going forward, this is going to be a huge pain, as Homebrew uses a different prefix on Apple silicon, AFAIK.

Messing with the clipboard on exit definitely is something MS Office does. The apps have a feature to purge the clipboard if there's a lot of Office data still on it.

I'll add one further observation but apologies if it doesn't help in this specific case. I've previously discovered that, on occasion, unlocking a MacBook Pro using an Apple Watch will leave secure input enabled. When that happens to me I simply lock the machine and then unlock it again using Touch ID. That invariably fixes the problem for me. Sorry again if it doesn't help you.

(There is a method of checking whether secure input is enabled—because, if it is, for some mysterious reason holding down a key will not display alternative accented characters associated with that key.)

No. The important thing is to ask Alfred to install the workflow itself, and let it worry about all of that. The simplest and best way to distribute workflows is as .alfredworkflow files. Then all you have to worry about is identifying a newer version and downloading it. Alfred takes care of the rest.

Anything else is a bit silly. Updating is difficult to do properly, sucks if you don't do it properly, and it's important to keep your update code as simple as possible because your primary bugfix mechanism is a really bad place to have bugs.

When you log into macOS, your session isn’t bootstrapped from a shell like it is on Linux (at least, it used to be), so none of the settings in your .bashrc or .zshrc are loaded. Those files are also explicitly for interactive sessions (when the shell is connected to a terminal emulator like Terminal.app or iTerm), so they also aren’t loaded when you run bash/zsh from any other application, like Alfred.

There is a shortcut for this On Reddit :
Looks like it just uses simple terminal commands:

    Get current state:
sudo pmset -g | grep lowpowermode
    to turn it on
sudo pmset -a lowpowermode 1 and off
sudo pmset -a lowpowermode 0 so implementation into workflow should be easy I just never made one.

Probably worth mentioning that it's built as a Node package, not a workflow.

A lot of people avoid such workflows because of all the issues the non-standard installation method causes.

    Just throwing this out there:

How about 1–9 on the keypad work like hitting ↩ on the corresponding result, and using modifiers with the keypad works like hitting ↩ on the corresponding result with the same modifiers? So ⌥⌘3 (on the keypad) would be equivalent to hitting ⌥⌘↩ on the third result.
