  1. So, I started using this one in Snow Leopard recently (never had a problem in Lion). And it just won't work as it is happening a lot lately with many workflows -_-

As you can see, it is installed (I changed the keyword to uc)

    But then...

I tried clearing the cache and reinstalling, but nothing's changed so far.

  2. This could be a result of different language versions (programming/script language) installed on the different OSs. Workflows that use Script Filters execute a script somewhere that will generate a chunk of XML that is passed back to Alfred. Alfred then reads that and generates the result list. If there is some dependency (version or otherwise) not being met in Snow Leopard or some kind of error being generated from the XML, it will fail to show the results.

    Thanks for your reply.

Does this mean that if a workflow was created on a different language than the one I have installed in SN, it shouldn't work? Because I have the same language installed in both computers, but it only doesn't work in SL. If so, then there's no way to fix it, is that correct?

Another two workflows that were working great until Monday, have stopped working altogether now. :(

  3.

For these fields, I know which Spotlight attributes to play with:

    kMDItemAuthors
    kMDItemUsedDates
    kMDItemTitle

but I'm not sure how I would put things together in Alfred within requiring a syntax that would be fairly complex…

This is easier done in Outlook itself and sort of defies the purpose of having a quick and simple query in Alfred.

FYI, you can create the search in Spotlight using this simple syntax:

    kMDItemUsedDates:2013-06-23 kMDItemAuthors:Mike kMDItemTitle:"Top Score" kind:Olk14_Message

Well, this too technical for me, but I'll see if I can figure it out. Thanks.

  4. I've been using pretty much the same workflows on both my iMac (running on Snow Leopard) and laptop (running on Lion). No problems so far on Lion, but some workflows worked a couple of times on SL and stopped working at all.

I indexed Spotlight, cleared the app cache and rebuilt the OS X Metadata. Nothing has changed so far.

As you can see in this case, it doesn't recognize that the workflow is installed.

In this one it does but after I start to type the search, it doesn't anymore.

I also had trouble with a Wikipedia workflow, but now it is working again so far. I also had to stop using the "Purge" workflow as well. Does anyone else using SL have encountered similar issues?

  5. Any further details on how the installation went? Did it work and does the workflow work now? :)

Well, I finally got the time to get to this after a very hectic week at work. I followed the instructions posted here to uninstall Xcode, and got a "command not found" from Terminal. Not sure if it's safe to install the command line tools now.

And this is how far I went with this :(

  6. could you try opening terminal and typing "vm_stat", as this is the command used to find the inactive memory. I'm starting to wonder that it is not in snow leopard, and that is what is causing the problems

I went and typed what you asked for, and this info appeared:

Mach Virtual Memory Statistics: (page size of 4096 bytes)

    Pages free:                           1951.

    Pages active:                       444920.

    Pages inactive:                     216685.

    Pages speculative:                   20735.

    Pages wired down:                   298320.

    Pageouts:                          3808810.

    Does this help?

  7. Sorry, I'm not a python programmer by trade, so I'm pretty stumped by this. I will try a complete refactoring late tomorrow (I'm not at home atm, so can't really do much on it). Hopefully it will be working within the next couple of days if you can wait

    Sure, I can wait. Thanks!

  8. I just checked the weather and got this:

    TJCEUOY.jpg

Those 24º are obviously wrong as I'm freezing my ass off  :P The web search on the left shows the right temperature right now. The settings are the same as the last time I changed them, and the workflow was working fine until today.

Can anyone help me to figure out what's going on?

  9. @SouthGirl:  Thanks for your reply.  The workflow reads in the list of files from /Users/(your login)/Library/Parallels/Applications Menus.  Can you please verify that you have files in this folder?  Also, this workflow is for Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac.  I'm not sure if it would work with a previous version.

The workflow should display the items, even with just a "p<space>."  For example, in this screenshot you can see the red parallels overlay to indicate the Windows apps:

    <snip>

Also, it should say "Open File" instead of Open App, because the script is opening an XML file with the Parallels Link app.  I noticed that in your screenshot, the Open File workflow is missing the "Parallels Link" Icon:

    <snip>

On my system, this is located in:  /Applications/Parallels Desktop.app/Contents/Applications/Parallels Link.app.  I'm not sure why this would be missing, unless yours is installed somewhere else?

    1) I'm on Parallels 6 still... -_-

    2) The path is not "/Users/(your login)/Library/Parallels/Applications Menus" but "/Users/(your login)/Applications (Parallels)" in this version.

I have already bought version 8 but I'm not sure when I'll have the time to upgrade (whenever works allows it, regrettably).

Thanks anyway. I'll keep this workflow for the new version.

  10. I just downloaded this workflow, and this is what I got when looking for Calibre on my Parallels.

    0jUcXKx.png

I tried with another three different programs and I get the same error = zero results. I do have the "Share Windows Applications with Mac" enabled though. I also noted that the workflow says "open file." Shouldn't it be "open app"? Just wondering as I have no idea how this works.

  11. Do you mind posting your settings.plist file, or letting me know what's in the location string?

I was opening the file to copy the location string, and realized that there were only three decimals after the comma instead of four. I changed it to four and now it's working great. Thanks :)

  12. Someone else made that comment and helped out with some code on github, but I never updated the workflow link. This should allow you to set location now.

Thanks. I registered for the API key, set the location as specified in the very first post of this thread, and I got an "invalid response - not JSON object" error. Any ideas why I'm getting this?
