twinpeaks got a reaction from Empyreal in Recent Downloads Workflow
You have compiled a hit with this one! No it's not as informative or comes out of the box providing users with lots or any configs as recent downloads by ddjfreedom does but it is capable of taking on arguments or follow-up scripts and is much faster and more accurate. Clinton Strong made the afformentioned workflow 100% faster and added  awesome enhancements like % complete for safari downloads. However, if I had to choose one workflow and never receive another update, yours wins no question. I know this workflow is never breaking down which is half/all my fault for not being capable of fixing ruby scripts.

I had to get that out there and scold everyone who has downloaded this and not posted a quick thanks or tapped the button. We wonder why so many great scripters have gotten fed up with fixing scripts and sharing new creations with this board... SWC, I am going to check out your other workflows in a moment and keep a backup of this script filter for safe keeping.

By the way, would you consider creating a github repository of all your workflows since the number is staggering? If you prefer not would you care if I did and simply had you email updates or new workflows to be posted? Don't get discouraged by the lack of appreciation, we are a very spoiled group here and it's going to bite us in the ass even more than it already has.

There is a pinned thread that explains how to do this sort of thing. Basically, you save previous steps in text files and call alfred to search with new terms.

    Update.

    Added support for Safari.

twinpeaks — apparently, by doing it via applescript we can get Safari to execute the javascript even without setting that option. The workflow now supports it, so if you download it now it will allow you to do that.

twinpeaks reacted to segphault in Syntax highlighting workflow with Pygments
I built a workflow that applies syntax highlighting to the text in the clipboard. By default, it performs RTF-based highlighting and stores the output in the clipboard as rich text so that the colorized content can be pasted into applications like Keynote and Evernote. The workflow uses a script filter to let you select the programming language. It's totally self contained, using the Pygments library which is bundled in the workflow. You can easily customize the script to change the output format (to HTML, for example) or pick a different Pygments color scheme.

You can download the workflow here: http://seg.phault.net/alfred/Highlighter.alfredworkflow
I wrote a blog post about it here: http://blog.phault.net/2013/12/slide-deck-syntax-highlighting-made-easy-with-alfred/

This is an example of a Keynote slide where I used the workflow for highlighting:

@Florian, straight to the point while still confusing! What is to be gained from the workflow or gained from beta testing? Either way, I needed the laugh.
    - You gain a better workflow, maybe someone who can provide feedback and fixes on your workflows along with some good karma.

@ Tyler Eich - I think you blew everyone away with colors 1.0, I am glad to see your challenging yourself and not resting on your laurels so to speak. +1 for sharing the results of your hard work with us and even allowing open participation for sought after features, those which you haven't found a use case for at least. This workflow takes the cake for number of "connectors," even the guts are aesthetically pleasing. Again, thank you for keeping us leeches in your thoughts and I'll attempt to give some feedback if anything appears out of order, both appearance wise and functionality.

Colors 2.0 is currently in the works. Improvements include:
Speed (written in Objective-C; near-instantaneous results) Full support for NSColor and UIColor Better preview images (uses a different, higher-contrast transparency background) ⌘C will copy the result's text Opacity slider in the OS X color panel Hotkey for revealing the OS X color panel Download • View on Github

Looking for the stable release? Check out the main Colors thread

You can run the beta parallel to the stable release; it uses a different BundleID (until v2.0 is stable, at least). Beta testing is strictly voluntary, with no obligation to myself or the beta tester.

I'm mainly trying to stabilize the code (e.g. removing bugs, fixing performance issues, etc.), but feature requests are welcome!

Here are some images of the workflow in action:

Interesting.  I didn't even know about that hidden "Trigger behavior" for the modifier keys in Alfred.  I just use the default "Simulate modifier keys released", but I tried all three options and all three triggers (right arrow, function, or control) worked fine for me for any of the trigger behaviors.  In any case, I'll leave the default as is, but your comment will be helpful for those who run into the same issue.  Also thanks again for the suggestion of adding the file action option.  I've actually started using that quite a bit lately to quickly email someone the file I'm currently working on.

twinpeaks reacted to designandsuch in Workflow: Units - convert currency length temperature weight and more
    Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that i'm still working on the new version.
which is going to include all the extra units that where mentioned as requests ( cooking units, typography units ect. ).
But more importantly I'm working on a complimentary website with all the units and their ; abbreviations, explanation and some interesting debates about the different conversion conventions. I will start with just a Docs of all the units. But maybe i'll even make it into a public wiki at some point.

I'm developing with an web-feed based version, which might be a little slower ( if you've got an old mac ) and will require an internet connection, but I barely feel any lack myself. In fact since the current 'local' version checks for the exchange rates now and then it freezes for a moment the first time you run it. And now I will update the exchange rates on my own server.

I'm still considering porting it to a local version so it can run independently on your machine. But that would leave out some essential power i build in this time. Mostly of which are the updates, since right now I know there are a lot of people with old version who have to deal with bugs i fixed a long time ago.
So maybe I just should use that time to add in more units. Any thoughts on the local vs web-feed dillemma?

And the best thing is that I will be able to add new units and expand the keywords to activate them on the fly. So if someone finds a bug / typo I can fix it for everyone right away. I'm sure there are quite some people around who are still struggling with my typo's in a couple of currency abbreviations. So this won't be a problem anymore in the future.

And this time i tackled the double units.. so now you will be able to just type  5'7" cm and it will tell you 170.18 cm.. so this will work for all of them off course. 5kilometer 2 miles m  will return 8218.688 m... and so on.

Basically redid the whole thing, all i need to do now is work a bit on the phrasing.. update/ edit some of the icons. and add all those extra units.

    I'll keep you guys posted!

Go To Current File Assign a keyboard shortcut to quickly go to the file (in Terminal, Finder, iTerm, or Alfred's File Action Window) for the file in the frontmost app.  For example, while working on a presentation in Keynote a quick keyboard shortcut can take you to the corresponding directory in Finder or Terminal.  Tested to work on most popular applications.

This workflow shows the contents of the downloads folder, sorted using file meta-data so that the sort is exactly the same as the "Date Added" sort on the Downloads folder (This sort is often the same as the last modified time, but is not always.) It provides a convent way to view the most recently downloaded files and you can scroll through them all or type part of the name of a file to find a specific one.

I've also added the ability for it to load web sites links (.webloc) so you can quickly open up and reference material from the internet, which will also mean it's always up to date!

It's definitely possible. It would probably require a password prompt on the first go with an option to save that password for future use; then it could use the OS X keychain to store the password securely...

I like this idea . I may rework a lot of my code anyway; it's some of the first PHP I ever wrote, and it's pretty messy

New Text File with Tag - somewhere around here I'll find it later...

EggTimer came out probably 2 weeks before Alfred 2 beta was open to supporters. For just creating a very intricate v1 extension he took on v2's workflows creating an amazing workflow that takes advantage of all of Alfred 2's new features. Great way to show how much more you can do with Alfred 2 and how much easier/cleaner it is. EggTimer for v1 was pretty nice for v1 but v2's workflow is ridiculous.

Just a quick workflow that quits all apps that are not part of your default dock. This only quits apps that show up in the dock, and not background apps. After executing the script you should see your default dock with all of the apps that are a part of it still left open. You can download the script here.

The workflow is an apple script cobbled together from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/495323/quit-all-applications-using-applescript and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14245301/can-applescript-list-all-the-applications-placed-in-the-dock .

twinpeaks reacted to ClintonStrong in Search Safari and Chrome Tabs [Updated Feb 8, 2014]
It uses the previews Safari generates, which usually end up getting squished by Alfred — they match the aspect ratio of your browser window, which usually won't fit into the square icons Alfred uses. I still think it's a good trade off as it makes it easier to find the tab you're looking for, but I do think it should be optional. I'll work on setting up a config file for this.

I use the OS X  `network locations` feature quite often. It allows me to comfortably switch between networks, without setting the proxies, DNS and other parameters every time. So I wrote this workflow to do it even faster.

    Usage:

    nloc network_location_name

Workflow supports autocompletion of known network locations:

Up-to-date workflow bundles can be downloaded here.

NOTE: Due to changes in security policy on OS X 10.8, system _will_ ask you for your password after executing the workflow.
OS X 10.7 system won't ask for your password since it doesn't require the `networksetup` command to be executed with super user privileges.
