Performance doesn’t just mean speed. You cannot fairly compare the resource usage of apps which are continually running in the background and gathering information to a single binary that must launch, execute, and exit in a fraction of a second. It’s difference tradeoffs (like almost everything in computing) and Window Switcher is designed to be fast and consume effectively nothing, especially when you’re not using it.

In addition, you’re focusing on one third of the given reasons and not the right one. That post does not say hidden windows specifically cause performance issues. Every one of the tools we’re talking about has a different interface and objectives.

It’s worth noting the code is open-source, which allows anyone to pick it up and tweak it to their needs. There are also other window changing workflows which may behave in other ways. Different people have different preferences and value different things. There is a strong core of users who like the workflow exactly as it is, and it’s important to not ignore that.

Awesomesauce! Seems to be working beautifully based on cursory use.

I think Alfred is currently seen as an app launcher program by many. But the Powerpack features add a lot more and some people can get rid of other apps when using Alfred.

I like how I can replace a clipboard history app. I'm also hoping to replace a few other small utility apps, such as window arrangers, like Divvy, and a task switcher like Witch.

    http://mizage.com/divvy/
    http://manytricks.com/witch/

I'm just looking for something fairly simple, and wouldn't expect to make the above apps obsolete. Examples of how Alfred might implement these features:

    - switch to next app with a keyboard shortcut (like Window's Alt-Tab or Witch's Option-Tab)
    - switch to specific app by activating Alfred and typing "sw Word" to switch to Word
    - snap the currently active window to left, top, right, or bottom half by typing "sn l" for snap left

I have too many one-trick pony apps (Witch, Divvy, Yoink, etc) launching at startup and would prefer one Alfred to Rule Them All.

Warning: You may already be aware of the following information!
Cmd-Tab is the hotkey for OS X's built in app switcher (you probably knew that)  If Word (or any other application) is open, typing 'Word' (or any other application's name) into Alfred will bring that app to the front. There are a few ideas buzzing around for window re-sizers and organizers. For example, this workflow is a port of the Layout's extension for Alfred v1.x (check out this post for the contextual discussion). It might satisfy your window-organizing needs

Thanks for the lead Tyler. I'll try out the workflows for window organizers.

And the only thing about Cmd-Tab is that I'm not able to switch to a particular window in an app, so I needed to use Witch. Hoping for a good Alfred workflow that will allow me to replace it.
