  1. Nice one, thanks! I also found a workflow that does similar for a pre-specified URL (i.e. one that I know I'll need to always open in Chrome because it uses flash). For that one I can just type my keyword, and without argument, it'll just open in Chrome on the press of return. Sweet!
  2. Anyone else got any ideas about this? I come up against it daily. I just wanna find the background app (easy) … and quit it (seems hard)! Should I ask in the Workflows forum??
  3. Oof, that workflow's a bit over my head. Only just started with Alfred, not really had much Terminal experience, and find many of the workflows pretty baffling!
  4. I can't find how to quit an app running in the background (i.e. one that doesn't appear in the app switcher). Typing "quit" just shows the active dock/app-switcher apps that are actually easier to quit from there with a simple ⌘-Q keyboard stroke. I'm looking for a way to quit helper apps, that are running in e.g. activity monitor, but don't appear in the app switcher. I can find these apps easily enough using Alfred, but the "Actions" menu doesn't include a "Quit app" option. Any suggestions? Thanks
  5. Is there a way of opening url results with an alternative browser (e.g. Chrome) from my default (Safari), using the "Open with…" action? At the moment, if I search for something that's a url (not actually typing the full url in), find the result I want in the list of Alfred suggestions, invoke the Actions menu and select "Open with…" and then "Chrome", the result will be that Chrome.app will open, but it will simply download the url as a bookmark from the ~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/Bookmarks/ folder. Now it's cool that Alfred is *finding* these urls in that folder, but is there a way to launch them as a page in Chrome, rather than downloading the bookmark? Or am I looking at a workflow to do this? Thanks Giles
  6. Hmm, ok. Similar sort of concept. I can do that — and I will, thank you — but I can't help thinking I'd also like to be able to set this sort of default manually, from within Alfred results. Almost like it's within the “Actions” menu: “Set this result as your default #1 response for this particular search term.” Ho hum. I need to unlearn all my Quicksilver ninja skills before learning new Alfred ones!
  7. Sorry, I'm on 10.8.5. No tags (yet). And even when I move, I can't imagine I'll be running out and tagging bazillions of files.
  8. Hello, Total newbie here, so go easy on me :¬) I've browsed the Workflows forum and can't find one that does something I'm certain is really, really easy. How would I assign a non-intuitive search term to a specific file? e.g. I have a file that's named "wxyz.pages" and I want it to appear at the top of my Alfred list of results when I type “bob” into the Alfred search field? So, really, this is about setting a default result against a particular search term. Has someone already done this in the “Share your Workflows” forum, or can someone help me design my own?? Thanks Giles
  9. I thought this might be the case when setting 1Password up for the first time yesterday, too. Couldn't get it to work by auto-dicovering or by putting the path to my 1P .agilekeychain in. 3rd party integration was checked, as it should be. I was puzzled I repaired disk permissions & rebooted. Went back in to Alfred settings, and with the file path entered manually, it still didn't recognise it. However, *now* when I selected "Discover automatically" in the advanced settings, they magically appeared. HTH Giles
