Hi guys - a quick update to let you know this has been improved in v2.0.4 which has just gone to pre-release. I'd be grateful if you could update and have a play
Quick question: the <item arg=“"> should be removed completely in order to use <arg></arg>? Or Alfred will use <arg></arg> if set and ignore the other (no need to remove the other for good)?
Thank you.

Works great now, thanks!!
I wonder, whats the point of giving a timestamp format? Is it supposed to be added automatically to the end of the file name? That it doesn't do.
In the current RC you can use the variable $t to add a time stamp to a filename.

Version 7.0 is out:
- keyword ens instead of en
- keyword enn instead of ennew
- Workflow preferences: keyword enpref (set quick look style and search wildcard mode)
- Preview (OSX Quick Look) your notes in Alfred by hitting Shift key (feature available in both ens, ent, enr and enc keywords)
- List all tags and search from one of them: use the keyword ens or ent then type an at sign e.g. ens @
- Improved search by title (keyword ent)
- keyword enn: hold option key to append text with current date to an existing note
- keyword enn: hold command key to create a new note and open it right after
- keyword enr: list recent (within a week) notes
- keyword ens: list notes added to Evernote Shortcuts
- keyword enscan: it will start OSX Image Capture (that you need to previously configure to save in Evernote), wait for it to get ready and then click the Scan button automatically

Hi guys,
I created a simple workflow to rename multiple files using an Automator script – here to download. I would like to extend this workflow by passing an Alfred argument to the Automator action which I use to rename the objects.
Any idea how I can do this? Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Isger
Maybe my Batch Rename workflow can help you. It is written in AppleScript.

Hi there,
I love your App. It really helps.
However, I wonder if its a bug that you can give files only names with a certain amount of characters? I have rather complex file names and so there is always something missing. If I understood your previous post correctly, typing in the file extension should help. It doesn't.
If I type in "nf #refXsglwXerktheo Huber, Oskar, huber23, 148, Traffic Horses Streets Noise" it comes out as
"refXsglwXerktheo Huber, Oskar, huber23, 148, Traffic Horses .md"
I have tried it with both current versions (the RC and the normal one).
Thanks again for this quite helpful thingie
OK. Please test RC 6: Download

Right now the workflow is parsing the filename as if it was from clipboard which is not the case.
I’ll fix it and post a new RC in a few hours or less.
Thank you for your feedback.

Hey there!
Great workflow! Thank you!
Is there a way to broaden the search results as if your using asterisk by default?
Cheers.
Thank you.
An asterisk by default may slow down the search if the user has several notes.
Anyway, I may add it as a preference in a future version.

You can sync using Dropbox. See Alfred Preferences, Advanced.

Thanks for pointing me to this thread. Your workflow is great and seems to do everything I want it to do.
I'm having one problem. My file naming structure ends with a date format as follows YYYY.MM.DD . But the last part (.DD) is being cutoff. I suspect this has something to do with some conflict with the file extension. Is there anything I can do on my end (other than changing my naming structure )?
Here is a release Candidate 5 of the workflow that adds date variables for the filename: $m (month as number), $mm (month), $d (day), $w (weekday), $y (year), $h (hour), $n (minute), $s (second)
How to use: nf #my name $y.$m.$d
Result (where .txt is the default extension): my name 2013.05.26.txt
What is new in RC5 (the official release is coming soon, just making some final tests):
- streamlined features focused on content creation
- keyword nf instead of newf
- keyword ns instead of news
- prepend or append text to any file in working folder
- custom date format that will be used in Journal, Prepend and Append features
- easily add text from Mail app (selected or all email content) along with basic email information and link or URL
- select plain URL or Markdown URL format
- workflow preferences and initial setup within Alfred
- keyword nf? for Help within Alfred too
- you can tag any file from search feature: type ns keyword, highlight a file, hold option key and hit return: a list of openmeta recent tags will be displayed in Alfred (select one or create new tags separated by commas)
- New Note now works more like the other features: tags#note here or #note here
- improved search module (keyword ns)
- add a custom timestamp to the filename using variables
- fn key is not used by default due wired Apple keyboards
- workflow update to Alfred 2.0.3 (187)
- removed Copy Text File from Finder
-
Do you have any sample workflow using the framework?
Sounds interesting…

Try to type the extension after the date.
I’m planing to add timestamp to filename like in my batch rename workflow. This can make things faster for you.

I was playing around with your workflow earlier. It's really nice, but... and this is mainly because I don't know what I'm doing ... I'm not really sure how I can get it to act the way I want.
I rarely tag files in nvALT because I spend most of my time in Byword. And I seem to be misunderstanding your instructions on how to remove the tag, I'd prefer a way to just turn that feature off. The other problem I'm having is that the option I want (new blank text file) is the third option. It would be nice if there were separate keyword for each of those options. Lastly, how do I make it open the file in my default text editor after creation?
Sorry if these questions seem silly. Trying to figure all this stuff out.
Please, download the current version that is still in progress but very functional: link
In this version:
- the main keyword is nf
- Alfred should learn which item is used more and move it to top of the list
- you can basically type: nf #Filename here
- if you don’t want any tag at all then type: nf -#Filename here
This version is still in progress and things may be changed. Your feedback will be considered.

Did you suggested this feature to Dropbox Short Links author? For what you want his workflow makes the not so obvious part of the process. I mean, it won’t be that difficult to add a copy/move feature or a second workflow to do this.

I'm trying to replicate some of my workflows in Drafts on iOS. I really don't have a clue what I'm doing with scripting or workflow creation. So I'm here to ask for help.
The workflow I'm trying to replicate is txt file creation. I've found a few that do some of the things I want, but not one that replicates the whole workflow I'm looking for. Which is this:
- All .txt files to save in the same folder.
- What I type after the keyword trigger would be the filename, without the .txt extension. That would be added in the workflow.
- After executing the Alfred workflow, my default text editor will open that file.
If anyone could help with this, it would be greatly appreciated!
My workflow almost does all you need but after the keyword you type tags then a hash sign then the filename (all optional).

I’ve been using PopClip and Alfred a lot. Great to hear an Alfred extension for PopClip is coming. I’ll surely try it.

The search doesn't work at all for meI type "en keyword" and it just says "Searching..." and that's it. I have a standard installaton of Evernote 5.1.3, Mac OS X 10.8.3 and Alfred 2. I tried your regular and beta versions both give the same resultUPDATE: Everything is working after I updated to Alfred 2.0.3
Great to hear. A new version of the workflow is coming soon.

Good news, everyone! I've just pushed a new version of the workflow that has Unicode working without a hitch. You can get it through Alleyoop or at http://alfred.daniel.sh/Workflows/Downer.alfredworkflow . Share and enjoy!
It seems to be working. I’ll make more tests later today.

Hi,
thank you very much for the workflow!
I have some problems with it using MacVim.
1. when I start the workflow, it does what it should (open the text in MacVim), but beeps three times indicating that something is wrong, and the Growl/Notification Center message is empty
2. more importantly - line endings are replaced with ^M, so the whole text is on one line making it uneditable...
Is there any way to avoid point 2? QuickCursor used to open the file with "real" line endings.
Thank you very much,
J
The workflow only saves the clipboard content to a plain text file using a common AppleScript command (class UTF-8) and it seems more that MacVim can’t handle it or it is not properly configured.
I tested the workflow with several editors such as iA Writer, Byword, TextEdit, Sublime Text 2 and 3, Texts, Text Wrangler, Fraise, MultiMarkdown Composer, Mou and Folding Text and all of them worked fine.
As soon as possible I’ll test MacVim.

Perfect thanks Carlos.
Presume you can't combine some of the inputs i.e. tomorrow 10:00?
Great.
It is not possible. I may try more combinations after finishing the Evernote workflow update.
-
Many thanks Carlos.
Unfortunately this doesn't work. when I do this it still enters into the first calendar in the list (Automator in my case) and when completed has the strange behaviour of reentering rm #automator into alfred
...
I’m sorry. I thought it was working here but I get the same result after all.
Right now you can set up a hotkey to load your list:
-
You can set a hotkey for the workflow (plus sign at top right, Triggers>Hotkey). Double click it then make it Show Alfred in Action and set the Argument to Text and type chrome in the text box.
-
yes that's right. Want to not have to specify the list
Double click rm Script Filter and edit the Keyword from rm to rm #My List #
Then, when you bring Alfred, type rm and as soon as Reminders item appears hit return key and your list should be displayed.
-
Thanks Carlos. Much prefer this reminder workflow. One question though. Can I just limit this to 1 list or set a default as I have 2 exchange accounts, but I only use 1 for reminders and I don't want to always have to set the correct list.
Cheers
Nick
Basically you type rm #MyList all the time, is that right?

Search doesn't seem to work for me. I have had a lot of workflow issues with Alfred 2 and other workflows. I'm wondering if its because I have two internal drives and my home folder is stored on one and my startup disk is another.
Does this sound possible?
It is possible. If the workflow can get, for some reason, a normal path to the home folder then it may not work indeed.
Are you using version 6.0 or 6.5 beta of the workflow?
