The title says it all. You select a text in any app and use the "Show clipboard history" keyboard shortcut to search for the selected text in the clipboard history. This way you don't have to copy the selected text before searching for it in the clipboard history. (Copying the selected text before searching for it adds a new entry to the clipboard...)

It's exactly the same as Show Alfred with selection in OS, but for the clipboard search.

    Usage

Turn off your Mac on a timer via the shutdown keyword. Large Type will show periodically with the remaining time.

Stop an ongoing timer with shutdown abort.

Configure the timer in the Workflow’s Configuration. You can also set apps to close before shutdown, so they do not reopen on next login.

To trigger an immediate shutdown or restart, use the shutdown or restart keywords.

If it's an Electron app, then client-side scripting is probably out of the question: Electron doesn't support AppleScript.

Guys, just posting "+1" is very unlikely to get you any closer to having a Teams workflow.

There are plenty of people who’ll help if you write the workflow yourself, and others will write you a simple workflow based on an API you've found. But not many will look at a thread of “+1” posts and decide to do literally all of the work for you.

Put in a bit of effort yourselves (e.g. go find out if there's an API), and someone who can help is much more likely to reciprocate.

vanderholm reacted to Andrew in The State of Alfred Remote app
The simple answer to this is Alfred Remote *will* get a major update, but I can't give you a timescale.

To keep Alfred's quality as high as possible, we are extremely selective over which features bring the most value to our wider user base. Alfred Remote constitutes a minor part of this user base, so while we have continued to add features to Remove via updates in Alfred itself, the core Alfred Remote app has remained as is.

While it would be nice to do a minor update to Remote to include some of the newer iOS features, Apple has evolved iOS significantly since Remote was originally released, with some technologies deprecated, and some new ones introduced, so Remote would need an overhaul to fit with within Apple's framework and "vision", all while trying to keep Remote backwards compatible with Alfred 3.

Over the past number of years, I've been keeping a close eye on Swift and Swift UI, and this may provide a perfect platform for a complete Alfred Remote rewrite, but it could be too early to allow this to work on a wider number of older devices.

As I said before, when Alfred Remote version 2 comes out, I'd like to keep it as a free update for all current Alfred Remote users.

vanderholm reacted to dfay in Nested Snippets (snippets within snippets)
I've moved all my snippets from TextExpander to Alfred, and it's actually pretty easy to create the equivalent of a nested snippet using snippet triggers in a workflow .  Not as simple as in TE but easy to do if you don't anticipate continuously creating a lot of new ones (which is still easy but a bit of work.)

    Here's an example:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/xu8afkqd4hfzgn2/nested snippets.alfredworkflow?dl=0

The snippet values are stored as environment variables and the first two snippet triggers show how to use them.  The third shows how to use a list filter to replace the address value on the fly.

    Snippet Creator
    adapted from https://github.com/derickfay/import-alfred-snippets

There are two keywords, both of which result in the creation of a new snippet:

sc - (single step) Required fields: name|keyword|content -- separated by |
sc2 (multi step) - Enter the snippet text, then you'll be prompted for the keyword / name -- in the interest of speed and simplicity the name is set to the keyword.

sc2 also has triggers to pre-population with selected text or clipboard contents, and is also available as a Universal Action.

set prefsPath in the environment variables to the path to your snippets folder - e.g. "/Users/someuser/Dropbox/Sync/Alfred 4/Alfred.alfredpreferences/snippets/"
and newSnippetFolder to your desired target folder

The workflow posts a notification on success to remind you of your newly created snippet.

This version is ever so slightly faster (at least on my machine ) - YMMV.

    Requires OSX 10.7+

    ↓ Download

Refer Github README page for up-to-date information.
    Usage
Type m in Alfred to list menu bar items for front most application You can filter menu items by name, or do a fuzzy search.
    E.g
m new tab will match the menu item New Tab m cw will match the menu item Close Window
    Setup
Note that Accessibility must be enabled for Alfred in order for this to work correctly.

For example, in macOS Sierra, this is configured using the Security and Privacy preference pane, under the Privacy tab with the Accessibility section selected. Alfred must be included in the list of apps allowed to control your computer. This step is required for the workflow to generate the list of menu items, and also click on a specific menu item.

Here's a snapshot of what the preference pane might look like in macOS Sierra.

Generate relative dates based on a simple input format and your own date formatting parameters (there are some default placeholders you can delete).

    Supports multiple locales/languages.

    Downloading

    Get the workflow from GitHub.

    Keywords
date — Generate a formatted date using the [input format][] ↩ — Copy date to clipboard ⌘+↩ — Copy date to clipboard and paste into frontmost app datehelp — Open the help file dateformats — View saved date formats ⌘+↩ — Delete date format dateadd — Add a new date format ↩ — Save the date format datereset — Reset the saved date formats to the defaults Input format

    (+/-)<NUM>(w|d|y) where w = week(s), d = day(s) and y = year(s)

You needn't specify a sign: + is understood as the default, so +1d and 1d mean the same thing.

Months are not supported, as it leads to ambiguity: what if today is the 31st, but the target month only has 30 days? Similarly, a year is naively defined as 365 days.

    Examples
    0 = now = today — today's date 1d — 1 day from now 7d = 1w — 1 week from now -21d = -3w — 3 weeks ago Supported formats

The Workflow includes a few defaults for the locales en_US, en_GB and de_DE.

You can specify your own custom date formats using the formatting options listed at the below links, and you can also specify a language with the format lang=de or lang=de_DE if you want to use dates formatted for a language different to your system's.

For a list of the formatting options, please see the GitHub page or the Packal page.

    Examples
    %d/%m/%Y — e.g. 21/01/2014 %A %B %d %Y — e.g. Wednesday March 12 2014 %A %d. %B %Y lang=de — e.g. Mittwoch 12. März 2014 Bug reports, feedback

The main issue is that the data dump is rather freely structured. It's not easy to parse reliably into proper data. If you have any thoughts about how that might be done, I'm all ears…

    Installation
Download the .alfredworkflow file or you can get it on Packal. Run to import into Alfred Donations
This workflow represents many hours effort of development, testing and rework. The images that have been licensed for this workflow from DepositPhotos also needed a bit of my moolah. Usage
db < browser > Note - if you try to set the default browser that is already active as the default you will just get a notification. Browsers currently supported:
Chrome Firefox Opera Safari Chromium - New in V1.1 Canary - New in V1.1 SeaMonkey - New in V1.1 Screenshots

    Troubleshooting
If you are finding that you are seeing browsers listed that you have installed previously but no longer have on your system you will need to clear out all your default handlers.
Unfortunately, this is the only solution I have found to date, you should research it in depth before you use it. The following command will re-initialise all the "handlers" OSX knows about and will therefore resolve the issue, it will also likely require you to set up all your custom file associations again.
In other words... you do this at your own risk, I do not support this in any way shape or form...
The command you will need to run on the terminal is: lsregister -kill
