    • What you were doing when the issue happened
Almost every time I use the "define" keyword
    • Whether you were able to replicate it
      see above
    • Include any screenshots that might help us
      Not needed
    • Include the version and build number from Alfred's General preferences (Don't say "latest", please be specific)
      Alfred 5.1.4
      Build 2195, Wednesday 25th October 2023
    • Include the version and build number from macOS and any apps that are relevant to the issue you're seeing
      M1, Mac OS Ventura 13.3.1

Almost every time that I enter the keyword 'Define" followed by the word to be defined, what comes up is the dictionary for the first 1-3 characters of the word.

I have to retype the whole word if I can remember it. Only rarely does it bring up the full word and its definition.

  1. Of course now that I work as you tell me with Textedit, it is working fine.

There didnt seem to be any particular app where the problem occured. It seemed widespread and pervasive, frequent.

But I will track it more carefully now and notice which apps and circumstances trigger the problem.

    Thanks for responding so promptly.

  2.  * What you were doing when the issue happened

This is happening frequently, almost routinely, doing opt+cmd+C and selecting the item I want to paste or just doing Cmd+V expecting it to paste the last item copied to the clipboard with cmd+C
    * Whether you were able to replicate it a second time by performing the same action

    replicates routinely, frequently
    * Include any screenshots that might help us
    * Include the Alfred version & build number you are using (don't say "latest" - you'll find a version number in the Update tab of Alfred's preferences)

    Alfred 5.1.4
    * Include your macOS version

    13.3.1

I will copy material and then immediately go cmd+V and it will paste an old clipboard item. Sometimes it will get fixated on one particular item and always copy that same item no matter what I do. Just now I entered one of my own snippet codse that I had created and instead of expanding it correctly it pasted the clipboard item of the moment that it was fixated on.

Same problem even if I do opt+cmd+C and scroll down or use a key to select a clipboard item

  3. I ran the troubleshooting once and it recommended changing the search area from Default to the entire disk, which I did.

That improved results dramatically, as might be expected.

But I searched on "flavonoids" which should have been found in one file, so I did the trouble shooting on that file.

The results are below. One error is listed:

    >>>>>>>

Check if volume '/' is indexed by macOS...

⚠️ Indexing may not be enabled on this drive

    /:
        Index is read-only.

    <<<<<

From briefly perusing the troubleshooting on indexing it looks like I will have to do a low level reindex.

How do I enable it for the full drive? Thanks,

  4. My 2016 MacBookPro had the keyboard problem that apparently was the subject of a class action lawsuit that Apple lost.

It would duplicate certain characters, Ls and Os mostly. I wasnt aware that C was a problem. Maybe so.

Anyway working on an external keyboard now and not having the problem.

    Thanks for responding on this.

  5. Alfred 5.0.6 (2110) on Mac OS 12.6.3 is not responding correctly to keywords Find and Open. Havent tried other keywords yet. With my Alfred hotkey I get the Alfred prompt but...

When I type in Find alone it says "Reveal file in Finder" as the second option, but when I continue with the word I want to find it switches to Find Google, Amazon, and Wikipedia as the options available.

When I type in Open alone it says "Open file... Search for files on your Mac and open" but when I continue with the filename I want to open it switches to the same three options.

It was working before on another MacBookPro with the same Alfred and OS versions. But I restored from a Time Machine backup of that machine onto this new machine after upgrading it to the same OS version and the problem started when I try to use Alfred.

One interesting point is that the Find and Open icon used initially is the Mac Finder icon, not the Alfred icon.

  6. How about Visual Foxpro? Just kidding. That is what I was working in when I quit the programmer world.

A great language but it didnt fit with MS business model that promoted the crappy Access on everyone's desktop instead.

What Python framework do you use?

    Thanks for your help.

  7. After I hit the hot-key to open the Alfred command prompt, I want to be able to enter dynamic content scripts there.

I hope I am using the right terminology for this.

So for example, I am working in a word processor document and I want to enter a calculated date in the future:

I hit the Alfred hot-key and I enter {date:long +2y +3M +1d:EEEE} at the prompt, and the calculated date is placed in the document. No need to place it in a script.

  8. Alfred's clipboard history is appearing correctly (v2.8.3 (435)) but I cant access it because of a  Mac OS (11.4) bug which is causing the clipboard to fail. I can save but not paste. I have tried the launchctl stop/start com.apple.pboard "fix" that I read somewhere. It works sometimes. Perhaps Alfred could just bypass Apple's buggy clipboard and implement their own. It would save a lot of frustration.

Do you have a trick for getting something out of Alfred's clipboard history, bypassing the Mac clipboard?

Or a fix for the Mac clipboard?

I cant get a 40 digit software license out of the history except by pencil and paper.

Btw, is the bug report forum closed?
