  1. Update: I appreciate the responses. After reflection, however, I think I misstated my issue. I'll restate it (hopefully more clearly—sorry for the confusion): Upon entering the first character of the keyword trigger for the expansion, I am presented with a list of the available expansions in my Alfred window. In the case of a couple of my expansions, I would prefer to have (some of) them not appear until the entire keyword has been entered. Thanks again… I've set up several text-expansion workflows, each triggered with a 4-character keyword. My problem is that the workflow is activated (and the expansion completed) after only typing in 1 character of the 4-character keyword. And I want Alfred to complete the expansion only after the full keyword had been entered. Ideas? Many thanks.
  2. Web Searches This workflow lets you open any web submission on the Internet. Such as quickly making a Reddit post to some subreddit, creating a new GitHub repo. Making a post on stack exchange forum and more. This workflow is an alternative to Alfred builtin web searches. I made it because I wanted to fuzzy search for the website I want to search on and I wanted something that the community can extend. This workflow achieves both these goals. You can extend the list of websites being searched for here and you can quickly select the website from a big list by simply typing where you want to search on. This workflow searches a big list of websites that can be found here similar to DuckDuckGo Bang operators. If you wish to extend it, you can do it. For more information, on how you can use the workflow, you can read the GitHub readme. Hope you like it. ? Code | Download
  3. In my Alfred Web Search preferences, I have disabled Google and Amazon, but I must be missing a checkbox somewhere because Alfred insists on putting Google and Amazon in the search results for any term that I type (see screenshots). How do I definitively disable Google and Amazon search?
  4. Right now Alfred allows full fuzzy matches for app names only, e.g. pto -> Photos. This leads to inconsistent results, when searching for files and also clipboard, snippets etc. I would really like an option to enable the same behavior everywhere, so I can type for instance errcod -> ErrorCodes. Are there any plans to implement this in the future?
  5. I'd like to see fuzzy search for snippets. Right now if you skip one letter in the snippet name nothing matches. I tend to have snippets for programming that start with similar strings but ultimately diverge toward the end. So if I'm trying to bring up my "gf_left_half" snippet I could just search glh for instance to bring it up.
  6. Currently a search for github in snippet viewer/clipboard history won't find my snippet named Issue (GitHub) as I'd expect… was tempted to file this as a bug, but I think it's just Alfred's search being naïve/speedy and using whitespace as word boundaries? Kinda also relates to the search improvement suggestions over here:
  7. I am struggling to figure out how to make Alfred 3.6 setup to Search in particular gmail account in mailplane. Did anybody figure a solution? B
  8. Hi there everyone, I've just set up Alfred and absolutely love it. However can't seem to activate the ability to search for Google Docs within my filesystem. Alfred doesn't seem to recognise them. Only finds the native pages files. I use Google Docs for everything so would be great for these to show up like they do in the normal finder search. Many thanks
  9. Hey guys, I'm wondering if there is a way to setup the search location if the hot key is triggered to the screen of the "current active window". If there are some screens connected to my Macbook, the search only appears at the notebook screen, even if I work on the extra monitor. FYI: Spotlight does it the way I want Alfred to do it, so I'm pretty sure if this feature is available for now, I can be achievable in future Best, Stefan
  10. With High Sierra running I am unable to search from the Alfred box. Google searches simply take me to the Chrome browser "home" page, offering me the Google search box. I have deleted and reinstalled Alfred 3 with no diff.
  11. Hi there, A while ago, I changed a setting somewhere to disable the auto-highlighting of top result in alfred search window. Now I want it back but couldn't find it anywhere. Any help?
  12. Hi! I want to copy a string like "§ABC §DEFGH §Test" into my clipboard and want to paste it like "ABC, DEFGH, Test" at another place. Can someone help me how to solve this? thank you
  13. Hi all, so I want to make custom search for multiple argument and I need help. I use Alfred v3 with powerpack, doesn't have many experience with programming. The argument is for example: search keyword minimum price condition (used or new) So when I type keyword and the argument separated by comma it will search to several website that I have registered. Example: User input aaa, bbb, ccc Will search: website1.com/xxx=aaa&yyy=bbb&zzz=ccc website2.com/xxx=bbb&yyy=aaa&zzz=ccc website1.com/xxx=ccc&yyy=bbb&zzz=aaa so on (the structure for each website is different) condition: If input only aaa, not bbb or ccc, dismiss argument for bbb & ccc If input olly for aaa & bbb, dismiss ccc. The condition (new/used) is different for each website, so need to change from the given keyword to wach website format. Hope it is clear enough. What is the best way to do it? Any help would be appreciated.
  14. Hi. Since updating to OSX 10.13, I have noticed changes in the way alfred displays files located using the 'find' command. To note: I did not update my OS. I reinstalled from scratch. For example, let's say i am looking for my resume. I type 'Find resume'. I would think that alfred would display the most recently modified file first, or at least the files with more updates. Prior to updating my OS, 'find resume', would immediately display my 2017 resume. Now, my results are cluttered with random files with the name resume that. How can I improve the validity of my search results and actually get what i am looking for?
  15. I recently updated to Alfred 3.5.1 (Build 883, Wednesday 18th October 2017), and to MacOS High Sierra (10.13.1). It appears the search feature linking Alfred to Spotlight doesn't work as before: I frequently refer to a directory doc (in Macintosh HD/Users/MyUserLogin/some_directory/doc). It used to appear on top of my Alfred Search (Alt-Space, Space), but it no longer appears anywhere in the list which I'm presented. However, Spotlight does show that directory in its own list. I did Clear the Application Cache and Rebuild macos Metadata, making sure I checked "Delete ./Spotlight-V100" before proceeding. I'm including a screenshot of the list presented by Alfred, together with one of what Spotlight does show. I'm including a screenshot of the file search setup (which I haven't changed since I installed Alfred months ago). Thanks!
  16. Hi guys, is there any way to only search for contacts if you for instance type "c" first (or any prefix). Like "c john smith" would give me the contact viewer with john smith, while just "john smith" would simply launch the browser/search engine? (I don't want to enable "contacts" in default search results, because it would clog up the results, but I would also like the built-in contacts handlers).
  17. How can I accomplish this? Folder A contains folder B. Folder B is pretty important to me in general but contains a ton of subfolders and documents that flood my search results. If I add folder A to my scope, everything from folder B floods my search results. If I remove folder A, I can't find folder B.
  18. # SafariHistorySearch Alfred workflow to search Safari history written in swift. #Usage `shs <SEARCH_TERMS>` Separate search terms with spaces if you want to search for more than one word. ie: `shs github safari` Each word is searched separately. If you want to search for a phrase, surround the phrase with double quotes, ie: `shs "Alfred Workflow to Search Safari History"` The results contain all search terms. This workflow searches the page url, page title and page body if available. see https://github.com/akaralar/SafariHistorySearch/releases for latest version. I hope you like it!
  19. Keywords: Open each of the three different Library folders by keywords: library system (open a Finder window @ /System/Library/) library hd (open a Finder window @ /Macintosh HD/Library/) library user (open a Finder window @ ~/Library/) library visible (make library folders visible in Finder) library hidden (hide library folders in Finder) appsup hd (open a Finder window @ ( /Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/) appsup user (open a Finder window @ ~/Library/Application Support/) If you would like to use keyboard shortcuts to open the folders - just setup the shortcuts you would like to use in the Alfred preferences. Each shortcut has a keyword in the bottom (hd, system and user) - use these to identify what each of the shortcuts does. Another useful feature of this workflow is the plist search - I hate how much time I have to spend finding a single plist file on my Mac, but with this workflow I can do this in a few seconds. You can do the same by typing the following in Alfred: plist YOUR_SEARCH Download Open Library Folders
  20. Is it possible to search for files by date created or date modified? For example, I'd like to find all the files created on the 28th of April.
  21. With the addition of the "Web Bookmarks" feature now Alfred indexes Chrome Bookmarks, but it ignores bookmarklets (probably intended). However it would be very useful to me if I could actually search and trigger those excluded bookmarklets from Alfred, ideally in the frontmost browser. I know about some workflows approaching this (AlfredBookmarklet and Bookmarklets) but they requiere me to clone my (currently 50+) bookmarklets list, and AFAIK there's none backup/sync option from there. I would appreciate the extra commodity to do this from Alfred natively. Thank you, cheers! David.
  22. For some reason Alfred (v3.3.2) can't find Xcode on my macOS Sierra MBP (10.12.5). I installed Xcode normally via the App Store to /Applications. I also tried to reset the Alfred search scopes, but that didn't help. As far as I can tell, Xcode is the only application that Alfred can't find (aside from the other developer tools in /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Applications)
  23. I've become a convert to the use of tags in macOS as a way of organizing files. I'm moving away from storing my files in folders and sub-folders since there's really no need when it's faster to use Alfred just to search for it. So I'm trying to build a simple search workflow that will allow me to search for files and folders by tag, but allow me to refine my search by adding more search terms. If i'm searching my PDFs for files tagged "javascript", say, I'd like to go be able to add more tags to narrow the search. It's not so bad when there are only ten files with the tag, but when yo have a hundred it becomes obvious that being able to refine the search by adding more terms is essential. I have a workflow that (like the built- in search) does a great job of searching for a single tag. How do I give it the extra functionality I want? Here's what I have... It's as simple as it gets. It is configured to search for tags and not title keywords: Anyone have any ideas?
  24. I almost didn't post this as a bug, because I'll leave it to Alfred's parents to decide. It's quite possible a "behavior subtlety" which has "evolved." But on the chance it was an unintended change: Build 875, Monday 25th September 2017, although this seems to have been a behavior since the new bookmark search behavior instead of something peculiar to this build. I'm still holding off on installing High Sierra until we get the all-clear with Adobe Illustrator and a few production tools. So this is in the current Sierra. For a long time I've organized browser bookmarks using full names and unique abbreviations in parentheses, e.g. National Hurricane Center (NHC) Storm Prediction Center (SPC) National Weather Service (NWS) Then I would recall such things using the abbreviation. "<Search box> NHC " or "<Search box> SPC" In earlier versions, the search would return links including the above examples. In the current version, the pattern does not return as a match unless I also type the first parenthesis. Now required: "<Search box> (NHC" or "<Search box> (SPC" I don't know that I have any objection to this, but I mention it in case it was unintended. Or perhaps the unlikely case where it has changed the way a script behaves. I certainly don't mind changing my scheme if the new behavior is preferred. :-) Thanks very much for the ongoing improvements and support of Alfred!
