  1. Hi All, I'm trying to implement a custom search that will find the first mention of a particular keyword in a file or email, and will return the file in question. DOes anyone have any suggestions as to how to do this (or a link if it has already discussed - I couldnt find anything searching the forum. Thanks in advance Alfred Gurus! Mark
  2. Hi, I am a designer and for my job I need sometimes to find a bunch of pictures for my design presentation. I've read several thread regarding this but I think I am still clueless as to how it works. Maybe just need some one to point me to the right direction. What I am looking for: I have a small list (10-15 words) with keywords on txt file: one two three ... ten And there is one site which I want to open in standard browser (safari) with this list of urls: ht
  3. Fuzzy search across folder subtrees. Update 10/09/2016: Added Alfred 3 support and removed Alfred 2 support. Added ability to self-update. Update 10/04/2014: Added support for glob-style excludes. Unfortunately, these have to be added manually to the settings file at the moment.Update 05/04/2014: Now supports searching files as well as/instead of folders You can now adjust the minimum query length to improve search performance. This Workflow provides partial matching of path components, allowing you to drill down into your filesystem with a space-separated query. Each "word" of the
  4. I have created a workflow for interacting with Nutanix Hyperconverged infrastructure. This workflow enables Nutanix administrators to manage the infrastructure components (clusters, hosts, disks, DR etc...) using Alfred. 5. Selecting the option to include AppleScripts in Alfred's Default Results does not work as you would expect it to because scripts saved in the standard locations (~/Library/Scripts and ~/Library/Application Scripts) are marked as system files and thus won't be shown in Alfred's default results under any circumstances. That is to say, if you do the most reasonable/logical thing and save your scripts in the standard folders (where other applications, like Mail.app or FastScripts, expect to find them), add the folders to Alfred's Search Scope, and then check the AppleScripts option, no
  6. Preferences > Features > Default Results > Checked AppleScripts Search Scope includes file: ~/Library/Script Libraries/ Script Libraries folder is shown in search but the AppleScript files it contains are not.
  7. Hi can anyone help me create a web search that works in Alfred with the following website: classicstoday.com Much appreciated. Thanks.
  8. On the web search it would be nice if you could set a fallback URL if no arguments are entered. For instance if I type "gm Seattle, WA" it will search Google Maps for Seattle. If I just type in "gm" it would go to a fallback URL. I realize that I can create a second custom search that opens Google Maps when I type gm, but then you are forced to select the action you would like with the up/down arrow keys. It would be faster if it was all built into the web search options.
  9. StackOverflow Search for Alfred Search for answers on StackOverflow.com from Alfred 2. Download Get StackOverflow for Alfred from GitHub or Packal. Usage .so <query> — Search StackOverflow.com for <query>. See below for syntax. ↩ or ⌘+NUM — Open result in default browser ⌘+L — Show full question title in Alfred's Large Text window Query syntax By default, words in <query> will be search for in the title of posts. To specify a tag, prefix it with ., e.g. python will search for python in the post title, .python will search for the tag python. Results Answ
  10. I'm using version 2.8.6 (441). I want to modify some of the built-in web searches, and there appears to be no way to do this. Specific use case: I want to modify the "amazon" search so that it searches smile.amazon.com instead of www.amazon.com. I can't do this (that I can see). I consider this a bug. The workaround is rather tiresome: I must add a new custom search (figuring out the search URL myself), disable the default one, and dig up the right graphic for the custom search. Then forever afterward I will have the built-in search cluttering up my list
  11. Hi, Is it possible in a workflow to limit the search scope to files with a certain tag? Thanks! Giovanni
  12. I have a hard time remembering the keywords for all the workflows I have set up. I've noticed that the search (at least as i have it configured) will only pull up my workflow options if the keyword matches exactly what I am typing in for the search. I'd like to be able to type the search term(s) in any order and be offered the keyword options for my workflows. Does anyone know if this is possible? Here is an example: -> Workflow keyword: aha tutorial (with a space) and I have arguments turned off for this workflow If pull up Alfred and start typing 'aha' I see 'aha tutorial' on the
  13. 1. Search Scope has "Include folders in Home" unchecked 2. ~/GitHub is not included in search scope 3. Typing GitHub does not show the ~/GitHub folder 4. However, .app files located within sub-directories of ~/GitHub do show up in search results when typed text matches the app name. How to prevent them from showing up in Alfred?
  14. Is there anyway to delete an item that I entered into Search Scope and no longer need? I notice that the Reset button deletes all additional items. In other words is there a way to edit items in Search Scope? Thanks

  17. Hi, I am fairly new to Alfred and I am at the moment trying to discover all it can or can not do for my personal and professional workflow. Here my wonder is to understand if it's possible to search for files attached to emails ? If yes, how to do so for the Apple Mail app and for AirMail ? So far, I couldn't even find an email in fact. I have unselected "Emails" from the "Don't show" list in File search >> Search, but so far, it is not working. Any help would be much appreciated here. Regards
  18. Hi, Some basic questions regarding searching in Google with Alfred. - My main browser is Chrome. If I do a search with Chrome open, it creates a new tab with the search. However, if Chrome is not open, the Alfred opens Chrome, but does not pass the search to Chrome. How can I get it to open a new tab and pass the search to Chrome? - Prefer not to have to type "Google" each time before launching a search. If I dont, AND there is no item on my local computer with a similar name, then the search automatically goes to Google, but if there is a local item with a similar name, it won'

  20. Update: This doesn't work anymore, not sure if it is Mavericks or not, but regardless I've created a completely rewritten python version of the extension which you can download here http://goo.gl/uhzK7I . It is just as hacky as the original version of the extension and uses a deprecated API from Google that is currently being aggressively rate-limited, which all goes to say this may stop working at any time. Enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here's a hacky attempt at my first workflow. I
  21. I'm not sure if this would be a workflow or a custom web search. But here's what I'm trying to do. I want to copy multiple urls, and then combine them all into a single query. Use case: I copy 4 different urls and then search for them on a site called sharedcount.com. http://url1.com,http://url2.com,http://url3.com So I'd type 'shared count 3' for example, and it would merge clipboard urls 1, 2 and 3 in https://www.sharedcount.com/dashboard.php?urls=http://url1.com,http://url2.com,http://url3.com How might one accomplish this? Thanks in advance.
  22. Hi I was trying to create a custom web search on the Alfred forum but I wasn't able to figure it out. Can someone help me out? Or perhaps there is a workflow to search this forum in a fast way? Thanks!
  23. Hello. I'm using Sierra DP3, and Alfred 3.0.3. I have no idea why this started, because for the past few weeks on sierra everything was fine. It started yesterday, when my usual search terms I use to launch apps (tl for Textual, sb for Sublime Text) weren't returning anything. So, I reloaded the cache --- nothing. Reindexed spotlight --- nothing. I've run sudo mdfind -E -i on / I've deleted /Spotlight-V100/* I've painstakingly let spotlight reindex over and over. Here's the thing: if I let spotlight finish reindexing --- all queries don't show the little indexing progress bar when se
  24. I would like to use Alfred to search a Numbers spreadsheet for a row based on a column query. Once a row is found I would like to display the row or rows that matched the search. For example, in the spreadsheet below, If I search for 3B8, the workflow would display: 3B8, Mauritius, 38 Numbers Spreadsheet: 1S, Spraley, 307 3A, Monaco, 39 3B8, Mauritius, 38 3C, Equatorial Guinea, 69 … … Any ideas? Fred
  25. Please support Chinese pinyin search. For example, when search for a directory or file named "我的文档", it's faster to just type Chinese pinyin "wodewendang" than "我的文档", I hope this will be supported. Spotlight can do this, but I want Alfred to replace it.
