  1. Given my recent discussion about formatting issues with RTF Snippets, it occurred to me that Markdown-formatted snippets could be really useful. There are some existing Markdown Workflows for Alfred like MarkdownTransform and Alfred Markdown Notes and so while I might attempt to create a Nested Snippets Workflow that allows storing snippets in Markdown and then passing them through a Markdown parser before pasting the results, being able to specify Markdown as another properly support snippet format in Alfred could be very handy.
  2. I don't think this is working as intended, but Rich Text Formatted snippets are impossible to read when Dark Mode is turned on:
  3. Hi everyone, I use Alfred Snippets a lot. I have two languages on my keyboard - English and Russian, and all of my Snippets use English for their keywords. It works great when you're on the English keyboard - you type the proper keyword, and it automatically expands. But the annoying thing is that when you use another language (Russian in my case), you press the same keys (which becomes like a "muscle-memory" for you with time) - and nothing happens. So, for example, I have a group of Snippets with emojis, and one of them is`!thu` ("thumbs up", "👍"). When I'm on the Russian keyboard, it corresponds to the `!ерг` symbols. So, my suggestion would be - is it possible for Alfred to "guess" the Snippet if it was written on a different language? I've seen similar behavior in other apps - for example, JetBrains IDEs do that in their "Search everywhere" (see the attached image). Thank you! 🙏 PS: ( `🙏` was inserted as a Snippet 🙂 ) ( And, `🙂` too. Ok, I guess I have to stop it 🙂 )
  4. SO I just downloaded aText for snippet expansion and then realized I have Alfred - not a frequent users :) I tried activating the self expanding snippets... but crickets. Doesn't work anywhere. I have most updated version Cmd + V seems to be working and haven't changed any default functionality Alfred showing up in accessbility I'm on Mac Catalina Any help much appreciated. I walked through some other threads and help sites - but didn't manage to resolve.
  5. There have been a few threads on quickly editing snippets and I just wanted to add a suggestion to the stack since I don't use Alfred's clipboard viewer... specifically, when I'm viewing a snippet in Alfred, I would expect to press option to open the snippet editor. Instead, option previews the snippets and allows me to paste it, but that's the same action if I were to action (hit enter on) the snippet. I like @Vero's trick to use "?[snippet]" to quickly edit a snippet, but I'm not sure I would have ever discovered that if I hadn't gone searching in the forum first...
  6. I'd like to request two improvements to Snippet management: The ability to drag a snippet from one Snippet Collection to another The ability to change a snippet's Collection without being taken to view that snippet in the new collection. I'm currently in the process of reorganizing a couple dozen snippets and it's HIGHLY inefficient to try to move these things between collections.
  7. What I was trying to do: To work around the problem snippet collections are not linked to specific apps (see this feature request I made), I instead followed this tutorial to create a workflow snippet for Visual Studio Code (the specific app I want the snippet to auto-expand in). How to replicate the bug: Settings in "features" -> "snippets": "Automatically expand snippet by keywords" is checked in "Auto Expansion Options" -> "Options" add VSCode as an app in "Don't expand snippets in the following code:" Add a snippet workflow like the following: type "\code" in VSCode the snippet does not auto expand NOTE However, if I remove VSCode in "features" -> "snippets"the auto expansion works Alfred version & build number 4.2.1 [1187] macOS version MacOS Catalina 10.15.6
  8. I have setting system text replacement, like qq. system will replace with number 123456789. I hava setting a workflow and key word set as qq. when I trigger with qq in alfred's input , text will replace,It's very inconvenient unless I click esc. So I hope alfred can support option to disable system text replacement First of all, the reason for using system text replacement is that it does not require some prefixes, which is more convenient
  9. Snippet function worked couples of days ago (4.2.0), this issue very possible due to new version released (4.2.1 in 13th November) Mac Version: $ sw_vers ProductName: macOS ProductVersion: 11.0.1 BuildVersion: 20B29 Alfred Version: Alfred 4.2.1 [1187] Permission check: Example: Result: https://github.com/marslo/marslo-test/blob/issues/screenshots/alfred/snippets-not-work-mac-11.0.1.gif (upload limitation for accessory size)
  10. I do a lot of screencasting and screen sharing on Zoom, and I also use Alfred's Snippets feature, which displays the expanded text on screen when it's invoked. I'm afraid I will someday soon expose some sensitive data on my screen when I use snippets while sharing. I'd really like the ability to mark certain snippets as "hidden" so they do not display like the example below. I think this would greatly enhance the security of the data we store in Snippets. Thanks for considering.
  11. I'd like to design a workflow where I use a keyword to trigger opening the Alfred 'Snippets' preferences. Ideally it would even open a specific Snippet 'Collection'. Thoughts? Use-case: I use a Snippet Collection called 'Emoji Pack', but I often search for emojis by different keywords than what is originally labeled in the emoji pack, so I find myself often going in and adding extra keywords to certain emojis that I refer to by non-standard names. By creating a custom workflow for this, I can do this much faster.
  12. I use snippets very heavily at work to store commonly used URLs and phrases that I include in emails, slack, etc. I share a collection with coworkers of our most commonly used links. One of the tools I use, Docsend allows me to generate custom links that have tracking embedded. They don't have an API so I need to create the link through my web browser every time. I'd like to have a collection of our most commonly used items in Docsend so a snippet collection is perfect, but I'm looking for a way to automatically open the link in the browser. Sort of like holding down the control key when clicking enter, but I'd like it to resolve the URL from my snippet. Is there any way to do this or something similar? I know I can use a lot of custom web searches, but this wouldn't be something I can share with my larger team.
  13. Hi all, I've recently collected several ASCII Art looks ಠ_ಠ from https://looks.wtf/ into an Alfred Snippet package. You can find it here on Github: https://github.com/cortinico/alfred-looks It contains more than 300 ASCII Art Faces such as (┛◉Д◉)┛彡┻━┻ or (⌐■_■) and ╰(◕ヮ◕)つ¤=[]——— Here is in action: Hope you find it useful 【ツ】
  14. Hi there, IMO adding a turn-on/off shortcut of Alfred Snippet would be extremely convenient... I know that we’re allowed to exclude some apps out of the Alfred Snippet. However, there are always some special cases that I wanna turn off the Alfred Snippet temporarily in the apps where I always prefer Alfred Snippet support.
  15. See for the background. Snippet Creator adapted from https://github.com/derickfay/import-alfred-snippets There are two keywords, both of which result in the creation of a new snippet: sc - (single step) Required fields: name|keyword|content -- separated by | sc2 (multi step) - Enter the snippet text, then you'll be prompted for the keyword / name -- in the interest of speed and simplicity the name is set to the keyword. sc2 also has triggers to pre-population with selected text or clipboard contents set prefsPath in the environment variables to the path to your snippets folder - e.g. "/Users/someuser/Dropbox/Sync/Alfred 4/Alfred.alfredpreferences/snippets/" and newSnippetFolder to your desired target folder The workflow posts a notification on success to remind you of your newly created snippet. https://www.dropbox.com/s/85nc52o241qobvm/snippet creator.alfredworkflow?dl=0 Version 0.2: - updated to use a pipe | as a delimiter instead of a comma, and to remove the requirement to enclose text in quotes Version 0.1: initial
  16. Not sure if this has been requested, but I was dissapointed to see that the "Snippets" feature was not touched in this last 4.0 update. I would love to be able to create snippets that interacted and requested info based on how you define it. For instance, if my snippet is defined as: "Your name is %name%", when executed, a prompt will request the %name% value and then paste the shortcut --> "Your name is Christian". I am trying to use RocketTypist to do this but it's buggy, this would be a nice addition to the snippet feature in Alfred, which I have found to be very responsive. Thanks!
  17. Using Alfred 4 + Powerpack... I want to migrate from another text expander and keep everything in Alfred. Is there a way to require a delimiter such as a space, period, question mark, etc. in order to autoexpand a snippet? Other text expanders do that. Is there a way to create a shortcut to open the Snippets window directly without having to access Alfred Preferences and then select "Snippets" from the sidebar? I would like a fast way to make a selection into a snippet. Thanks!
  18. Hi there, I really wanted to be able to use :ok_hand: as a shortcut for 👌, but the emoji pack didn't support these new emojis... So I made my own! There are more than 400 emojis that were added, it still works the same And I'll keep updating it for the foreseeable future. Download link: https://github.com/paris-ci/Alfred-Emoji-Pack-Update/raw/master/snippets/Emoji Pack Update.alfredsnippets Code used to generate the pack: https://github.com/paris-ci/Alfred-Emoji-Pack-Update It's basically the same thing as before, so here is the installation tutorial : http://joelcalifa.com/blog/alfred-emoji-snippet-pack/ (Don't use the download link there, it's still the old version, I am not the original author)
  19. If you are a STEM student, you might have been familiar with the markup language LaTex. Typing equations in LaTex is painful and it is almost impossible to compile the latex document without getting an error once or twice. To facilitate writing LaTex documents, I have created a comprehensive (more than 2000) snippets especially dedicated to latex greek letters. Example usage: Type this: \\a This expands to: \alpha Type this: \\ax This expands to: $\alpha$ and so on. Here: prefix = \\ letter = a expands to = alpha The snippet can be found in my GitHub: https://github.com/bhishanpdl/ALFRED/blob/master/AlfredSnippets/LatexGreek.alfredsnippets Installation: 1. Download the snippet and double click 2. UNCHECK the option Strip snippet of auto expand flag (by default it is checked, uncheck it) Detailed usage: Some rules: 1. I call Partial, Angle and Bold as prefix terms. 2. I call other attributes such as bar, prime, hat, etc suffix. 3. x means surround by the two dollar sign. E.g to create $\alpha$ we need to type \\ax. 4. suffix attributes need only one extra letter at the beginning. Eg. to create \bar{\alpha} we need to type \\ab` where b means bar. 5. prefix attributes needs two surrounding letters. E.g. to create \partial{\alpha} we need to type \\pay here prefix p means partial and we also need last letter y.
  20. There are some ways to create and use the snippets in Alfred. 1. Using snip command . We can only see the command name, and copy the snippets but cant see the contents. 2. Using clipboard manager we can search and see the contents of snippets and copy it, but can not see the preview (eg. using shift key) Here, I would like to get help creating a workflow which will write the snippets to a file and quickview it. idea: command: qsnip hello effect: copies the snippet called hello and paste the contents "hello world" to a file called "mysnip.txt" in the directory of workflow. effect: qlmanage -p mysnip.txt Problem: I am unware how to save the snippet to the file "mysnip.txt" I have shared the minimal workflow here: https://github.com/bhishanpdl/Shared/blob/master/Alfred_questions/qsnip.alfredworkflow?raw=true
  21. Hi there, Recently, I noticed that when I'm typing some snippet keyword will be picked up by computer, even I'm not within the Alfred box. Eg, I have snippet as 'name', when I was typing inside Bear notes, when I type name, the snippet content will pop up into the text field. Can you please look into this? Ian
  22. I'm trying to work out how to complete a second step in a new workflow that will streamline a workflow I use several times a day. I create Markdown notes throughout my day. I have a pretty basic workflow that runs a terminal command that, in turn, creates a file and opens it in my text editor. I then invoke a snippet that populates the note with predefined text, and multiple clipboard items that I save before I invoke the workflow. In other words: Save multiple bits of information to my Alfred clipboard in a predetermined sequence Run a terminal command through a simple workflow that creates the Markdown file, and opens it in my text editor When the file opens in my editor, I manually run a snippet that populates the file, including the clipboard items using {clipboard:0}, {clipboard:1}, etc syntax. The terminal command looks something like this: touch ~/path/to/directory/$(date +%Y-%m-%d)_Feedback_{query}_Interactions.md & open ~/path/to/directory/$(date +%Y-%m-%d)_Feedback_{query}_Interactions.md -a Atom The {query} is something I add when I trigger the workflow. The snippet contains predefined text with placeholders for my clipboard items. I'd like to combine all of that from into a single workflow. What I can't work out is how to include the 3rd step in the workflow so I can run it all as a single step. I don't suppose anyone has any suggestions?
  23. This is very minor, but also maybe very easy to adjust? In the Snippets section, can the ‘add’ and ‘remove’ buttons be oriented with the left side of their respective fields? It’s silly, but I click 'add collection’ all the time meaning to click ‘add snippet’ because it’s visually near to the field, and since we read left to right, I think orienting the GUI that way improves the flow. Plus, if they were both oriented to the left it would be less distance to travel between mouse clicks; microseconds in efficiency!
  24. I noticed that when I use text expansion in VS Code, the snippets don't expand fully. It seems to occur when the Markdown All in One extension is enabled. I've opened an issue here: Text snippets don't expand correctly when using text expansion, with Markdown All in One enabled · Issue #200 · neilsustc/vscode-markdown. I did some additional testing with TextExpander and I wasn't able to reproduce the issue when I expanded snippets in TextExpander, when the Markdown All in One extension is enabled in VS Code. Would there be something about how Alfred expands snippets that differs from how TE handles text expansion, that could be causing this issue in VS Code? I've only really noticed this issue in VS Code, and when the Markdown All in One extension is enabled. I've been using Atom as my primary editor and don't have this issue there, so this seems to be caused by some sort of interaction between VS Code (with the extension enabled), and Alfred. I don't suppose you have any insights that might be helpful in troubleshooting this?
  25. Hi all, I accidentally deleted the whole collection instead of one snippet. Is there a way to retrieve that? Maybe something on the file system in the Library folder? Thanks in advance for your help. - Charlie
