  1. (1) I have: 2 iMacs, 1 MacBook Pro, and 1 MacBook Air. How many licences do I need to purchase to cover 4, 3, or 2 of these? (2) Where can I find a simple description of the different types of licences? Al Maloney
  2. Hey all, I haven't been active in this community for a long time (though I used to a lot!). And I haven't really been keeping up with the updates. I'd like to have a workflow that would let me assign a keyboard trigger to open a terminal and make it the frontmost app. If the app was already open, just switch to it. If it wasn't, open it and switch to it. Does something like this exist already? If not, how can I make it? It seems very straightforward but glancing at the examples in the workflow tab of Alfred, I couldn't immediately see how to... Thanks for any help
  3. at the moment, when I try and search for some thing I can only find google, amazon and Wiki, I want to add my own search websites to the list...
  4. Hello, I’m developing bookmark workflow for the minor browser. Now, I faced the problem. I’m pass Alfred Json by script filter. When I run my code by `python3`, I checked correct outputs like below: { "items": [ { "arg": "https://www.alfredapp.com/help/workflows/inputs/script-filter/json/", "subtitle": "https://www.alfredapp.com/help/workflows/inputs/script-filter/json/", "title": "Script Filter JSON Format - Workflow Input Objects - Alfred Help and Support", "uid": "https://www.alfredapp.com/help/workflows/inputs/script-filter/json/"
  5. I'm sure I'm doing something embarrassingly simple wrong: I've merely imported the "Snippet Triggers - Getting Started" workflows, but when I type their prefixes/keywords nothing appears in Alfred. I've ensured I have granted Alfred Accessibility access. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Hello, I created a workflow to open in a specific App the currently selected file in the Finder, via a hotkey trigger. Issue is, the hotkey trigger action copies the file name to the clipboard in the process, which I don't want. Seems like a bug to me, but not really sure if it is supposed to do that or not, I couldn't find any info on that. Otherwise, how could I fix that? Thanks! Benjamin
  7. I am trying to write an Alfred Workflow that creates a new react app. All the commands below are working fine EXCEPT for "npx create-react-app", anyone got this to work before? Many thanks... cd /Users/jameshusband/Development mkdir {query} cd {query} npx create-react-app my-app touch index.html
  8. I am looking to implement a workflow that calls an API after a user has entered some text. In order to not reach certain API call limits, the callout should only be performed once the user presses Enter (one time - not after every key stroke). The webservice will then return a response to be displayed to the user as an Alfred list item. The user may press Enter on the displayed list item to open a certain URL that the API responded with. This is the concept I came up with (note: No workflow that I can export yet): 1. [Keyword] User enters a keyword and then some text (e.g. 'mywf so
  9. I am using the 'Play song' from iTunes as a workflow. The debugger shows" I know this is an issue with Mojave and the new 'sandbox' security bubble they put around interacting with the OS; I just don't know how to give it access. Alfred is already enabled in the seurity section. Any thoughts?
  10. When you have Alfred configured to appear on the active screen, should large type also appear on the active screen? If so, then I’ll submit a bug report as my large type always appears on the active display, even when my second display is active.
  11. For advanced workflows it would be nice to be able to specify *combinations* of modifier keys when specifying action modifiers for workflow connections. For instance, allow an action modifier based on holding down *both* the Option and the Shift key. (I know there's potential for conflict with global hotkeys, such as Cmd-Opt-Return for the iTunes mini player.) Currently (Alfred 2.0.3), you're limited to a single modifier key.
  12. I have trouble with searching apps. Environment: * macOS Catalina version 10.15.2 (MacBook) * Alfred --version 4.0.7 [1131] Problem: Spotlight can find the app in "/System/Volumes/Data/Applications" (e.g. Safari.app, Google Chrome.app, and iTerm.app), but Alfred cannot find these apps. Strangely, my MacBookPro does not have this problem. what I have read or tried: * https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/catalina/#apps * https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/indexing/ * clear the app cache * Reb
  13. I had a look around in the forums and didn't see this question.... So I just migrated up to a new laptop running Catalina. My previous laptop running Mojave had no issues finding mac utilities like "Activity Monitor" or "Disk Utility". Sadly, I can't seem to get Alfred to be able to return those apps even after adding a direct path to them? Any thoughts?
  14. I just upgraded to Alfred 4 and installed it then uninstalled Alfred 3. I am unable to find my applications folder. I had read through some other previous issues reported back in October and I was able to fix the issue by adding system/volumes but read that this was not the right solution so I removed that. Here is the default search scope and a copy of the metadata for the particular app I am looking for. /Applications/Anaconda-Navigator.app Internal File Metadata ====================== Display Name: Anaconda-Navigator Alt Names: Anaconda-Navigator.app Fi
  15. Hi there, I have a script, where the array for the JSON, which will be passed to Alfred again, looks like so: result.append( {"title": title, "subtitle": arg, "arg": arg, "icon": { "type": "filetype", "???": "???" } } ) What do I have to fill in for the ???, so that files are shown with their correct icons? PDFs with a pdf icon, jpgs with jpg icon and so on... Do I have to assign each individual filetype to an icon or is there a more generic way to achieve this?
  16. I've just migrated to Alfred from Quicksilver. Really enjoying it, however I would like to be able to set something as the default first result for a certain letter. For example, if I have multiple folders with similar names such as Folder_1 Folder_2 Folder_3 Folder_4 When I open Alfred and type "Fo" I want to be able to set the default first result to Folder 2. It seems like if I navigate to it it starts to do this automatically over time, but is there a way to set this manually?
  17. Hi, I'm trying to install V4 and whenever I download the disk image I get this message on opening: "Alfred" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the trash: I've tried the following: - Reboot - Full shutdown and start up - Downloading V3 and V4 (both fail in the same way) - Installing from Homebrew Details: - Running MacOS Mojave 10.14.5 - "Allow apps from App Store and identified developers" in System Preferences -> Security and Privacy Best, Mic
  18. I am not successful in setting up a Workflow to do this: From an open Gmail, I want to send this series of keystrokes to avoid a bunch of clicks needed to get access to the "subject line" in the forwarded email pane. I want to send these: F shift+tab x 3 down arrow x 3 Enter I designed this workflow (snip attached) to send those keystrokes when I double tap the left shift key. But it doesn't work right. Maybe it sends the keystrokes too quickly.
  19. I would like to split a comma separated arg value from a List Filter which can then be used in Run Script as variables. arg = 1p name of bookmark1, 1p name of bookmark 2, name of bookmark 1, name of bookmark 2 I know of the Split Arg to Vars utility and can split these into 4 strings, ex: var:string1, var:string2, var:string3, and var:string4... but I can't get these to be used as variables within the Run Script itself. My Run Scripts are not throwing errors, but the strings are empty when I attempt to use them. I understand it is likely hard to solve this
  20. I have a File Action based workflow that runs a bash script on the files that are selected in the Finder when I hit Cmd + Opt + \. It works fine. but I'd like to have a variant of this workflow that can be given some text input which will then be used in the bash script later in the workflow. The problem is I can't see anyway to make this happen with Alfred. Ideally I'd like to be able to have a text entry field shown where I can type or paste text and then workflow would then use that. Since I couldn't see a way to do that I figured I might be able to put the text on the clipboard
  21. For some reason Alfred isn't finding my NordVPN app when I search for it as an app. If I search for "NordVPN" as a document, it is found in the app folder. I can find NordVPN using Spotlight. Does anyone have suggestions for why NordVPN isn't being recognized as an app by Alfred? Thanks.
  22. OSX 10.15.1 Catalina Alfred 4.0.6 (1124) Alfred is no longer indexing some of my applications. It still shows the Apple apps (Photos, Music, etc.) however no third party apps are showing up. They are also not showing up in Spotlight either, so this must be a problem in general with Spotlight indexing. I've tried Advanced -> Clear Application Cache and Advanced -> Rebuild macOS Metadata, but none of those helps. (I have let "Rebuild MacOS Metadata" run overnight.) Also when I try the "Delete .Spotlight-V100 before reindex" I get the following error: "rm: /System/Volumes/
  23. With previous versions of Alfred, Typinator abbreviations would expand on the command line. For me, "dvt" became "Devonthink". "ss1" became "ss Inbox 1-sided" for ScanSnap. Such expansions no longer work in Alfred 4. I know that there is a setting to change that or a Terminal command, but I do not know what it is. I would appreciate your help!
  24. Hello, I have a Python script which uploads some files. It outputs a few messages to the console when running. I've added the PATH to its location in .bash_profile and so I can run it from anywhere just by typing the name (I have also removed the .py extension to make that easier). I'd like to be able to run it using an Alfred keyword. I've created a blank workflow, added a keyword input and connected a Run Script action to it. I've selected "Exernal Script" and entered the name. This didn't work, so I modified the "Script File" field to include the full path to the fil
  25. Hello! I would love Alfred to run this terminal command: Killall Dock I have to do it 10 times a day and right now I have to open terminal, write it, run it and quit terminal. I would love for it to be done with one click. Any idea? Thank you!
