  1. Hey everyone! Just dipping my toe into the proverbial waters of Alfred 2 workflows, and managed to come up with this workflow. It creates a new named task in your OmniFocus inbox – it checks if OmniFocus is open and, if it's not, opens it so you don't have to. It's not particularly complicated or elegant, but I hope it's useful to a couple of you out there! DOWNLOAD: New OmniFocus Inbox Task Workflow
  2. What is this? This is a workflow that allows you to run free text searches against your OmniFocus data. Why would I need this? Well, it's difficult to quickly search for, say, a task using OmniFocus' own search box since OmniFocus restricts the results to the current perspective or selection. Other people have noticed this too. Where can I get it? From Packal or GitHub. How do I use it? The README has full instructions but, here's a starter for 10. Search for all tasks within OmniFocus (irrespective of status) with .s

  4. I need some help to create a workflow that opens an action from within OmniFocus. I have added the attached workflow with a x-callback link to the action in OF but it does not open the OF and even if it is open, it does not open the action?

  6. Hello everyone. I am looking for a way to use Alfred to open my omnifocus app and have me be able to enter items directly in its inbox. If you know how to make Alfred do that, please let me know. Thank you. Neil
  7. A workflow for quick adding new tasks into selected OmniFocus project. Preview: It can: Filter tasks inside project Add new tasks with notes and clipboard content Run terminal command after your task is finished (mostly for git or whatever) Open note links (all at once) (discontinued in version 2) Copy note Delete tasks Quickly open tasks in omnifocus (discontinued in version 2) Complete tasks - version 2 - Work with completed tasks Search tasks and projects (both completed and uncompleted) in of database Change project selection Complete projects Flag unflag tasks and projects Added basic fantastical 2 support (disabled by default) Workflow now reopens itself with appleScript - Application('Alfred 3').runTrigger('sidekick',{inWorkflow:'com.sidekick.modi',withArgument:mode}); github download Version 2 works using omnifocus cached database - It is much faster than using applescript. I work with appstore omnifocus - so there is appstore cache folder set by default in the settings - https://www.dropbox.com/s/q1lbjwozpn84sh3/2016-10-09 18.09.46.gif?dl=0 - If you use non appstore version you should change db variable in the settings to ~/Library/Containers/com.omnigroup.OmniFocus2/Data/Library/Caches/com.omnigroup.OmniFocus2/OmniFocusDatabase2 to run terminal commands you need to add your script into the project description surrounded with | - for example |open http://www.alfredforum.com/|- will open alfred forum after every task you finish. use $1 to access task title and $2 to get task note This workflow is not 100% ready yet - there are a lot of things I'm planing to add: add new tasks (when started and finished) into calendar with link to the omnifocus task Timing app support (get start finish date and generate report what exactly I was doing during the task) finder/pathfinder support (add selected files with @2) chrome/safari support (add tabs urls with @3) automatically change settings when user opens workflow first time (in case user has not appstore version or does not have any third party apps) edit tasks inside alfred (do not know if it is usefull) change task parents creating new projects inside sidekick If you have any ideas how I can make this workflow better I will be glad to implement them
  8. I have written/adapted a couple of AppleScripts and packed them into a Alfred 2 workflow to speed up my deferring process in Omnifocus. The idea is that when I go through my daily task list or inbox in Omnifocus I often move them to later in the day (e.g., after lunch or towards the evening when I have less energy) or to the next day. Some of these I move even to the weekend evening, when I do my weekly planning. You can download the workflow here (version 1.1): https://www.dropbox.com/s/54g74rxp6yegjd4/Defer_tasks_in_Omnifocus_v1.1.alfredworkflow?dl=0 More details on how to make changes (adapt it for your needs) can be found here: http://www.helmuthauser.com/blog/2014/speed-deferring-omnifocus-tasks Here is a list of implemented shortcuts: The idea is that you can go through your tasks with the arrow keys. If you want to move the currently highlighted task (or multiple tasks), you can choose from the previously described options. The corresponding shortcuts are define with arrow keys too. The idea is to use "⌥⌘" for deferring to today and "⌃⌥⌘" to tomorrow. The arrow keys are "↓" for morning, "→" for afternoon, and "↑" for evening. ⌥ ⌘ ↓ today (morning) ⌥ ⌘ → today 14:00 (afternoon) ⌥ ⌘ ↑ today 18:00 (evening) ---------------------------------------- ⌃⌥ ⌘ ↓ tomorrow (morning) ⌃⌥ ⌘ → tomorrow 14:00 (afternoon) ⌃⌥ ⌘ ↑ tomorrow 18:00 (evening) ---------------------------------------- ⌥ ⌘ ← next Sunday 18:00 (to plan my next week) ⌃ ⌥ ⌘ ← next Saturday (morning) to follow up task that I was not able to do during the week I change sometimes this to a specific date , e.g., the first day after the vacations or after some busy deadline (to move quickly task out of my sight until things calm down) Enjoy and have a great day, Helmut ======================================== January 26, 2015 - Version 1.1 ======================================== Updated version: – added a clean up action after deferring tasks – changed the short cut for next Sunday to ⌥ ⌘ ← – added another shortcut (default next Saturday) with shortcut ⌃⌥ ⌘ ← – fixed a small error for the next Sunday script that occurred when the next Sunday was already in the next month/year
  9. The OF workflow that just sends the query straight to OmniFocus was a bit too simplistic for my taste. I created a workflow that lists matching projects and contexts and autocompletes them when you select it. Hope it actually works for you guys, I've used the ruby template but not sure how to distribute it properly. http://s.crowdway.com/of-create.alfredworkflow
  10. I have been trying to get the 'todo' workflow adapted for the new Omnifocus 2 since it came out. This thread has some advice and recommended script changes but they are not working for me: http://www.alfredforum.com/topic/1041-create-new-task-in-omnifocus-inbox/?hl=omnifocus Has anyone managed to get a good Omnifocus 2 workflow going? If so please can you share. Many thanks.
  11. Dear all, I would like to use Alfred 2 to start a specific Apple Script in Omnifocus. I tried to build a workflow, but I was not successful. I use a keyboard trigger, which should only work when Omnifocus is focused (I have adapted "Related Apps" accordingly). I tried it with "Run Script" (using oascript with either coping and pasting the script and also by using the the path to the script) and I tried it with NSAppleScript (simply copy and pasted the script right into it) and it did not work :-( Any suggestion? Thank you very much for your help. All the best, Helmut PS: Here is the script. It works when I call in Omnifocus. -- Downloaded From: http://c-command.com/scripts/omnifocus/defer-to-tomorrow -- Last Modified: 2014-05-22 on run {} repeat with _action in my selectedActions() my processAction(_action) end repeat end run on selectedActions() tell application "OmniFocus" return my filterValues(my selectedValues(), {inbox task, task, available task, remaining task}) end tell end selectedActions on selectedValues() tell application "OmniFocus" return value of selected trees of content of first document window of front document end tell end selectedValues on filterValues(_values, _classes) tell application "OmniFocus" set _result to {} repeat with _value in _values if _classes contains _value's class then copy _value to end of _result end if end repeat return _result end tell end filterValues on processAction(_action) tell application "OmniFocus" set _action's defer date to my calculateDate(_action's defer date) end tell end processAction on calculateDate(_oldDate) if _oldDate is missing value then return my midnightTomorrow() else return (my midnightTomorrow()) + (time of _oldDate) end if end calculateDate on midnightTomorrow() set _date to current date set day of _date to ((_date's day) + 1) set time of _date to 0 return _date end midnightTomorrow
  12. I've created a workflow (with three actions) for creating new OmniFocus tasks. One option simply creates a new task in the inbox based on the argument supplied Another option creates a new task based on the currently-focused Google Chrome tab (the page title becomes the task name; the page URL becomes the note) The third option creates a new task based on the currently-focused Safari tab (the page title becomes the task name; the page URL becomes the note) Read a bit more on my blog, or download the workflow with this link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nlx4uyfc905iyc2/CreateOmniFocusTasks.alfredworkflow
  13. Hello, a while back I found a little AppleScript for OmniFocus users. The author is Shawn Blanc. It is used to have access to the Quick-Entry Pane, even if OmniFocus isn't running at the moment. Set-up: the workflow should be triggered with the same keyboard shortcut you use to activate the OmniFocus Quick-Entry Pane. This way you won't have to worry about starting OmniFocus to use your Quick-Entry Pane, it's always ready! I just put the script into a workflow and added a trigger. The only thing you have to do is choose the shortcut and you're done. download the workflow here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1wnhuk0jr3v8ot8/OopsieFocus.alfredworkflow Credits go to: http://shawnblanc.net/2011/06/oopsiefocus/ Hope you enjoy this, (it's pretty useful if you happen to use the Quick-Entry Pane as often as I do) Daniel.
  14. Hi there, it is possible to include Omnifocus Projects in the default search ? In Spotlight it works, in alfred it does not work. I have already added the following path to alfred: ~/Library/Caches/Metadata Thank You, Andy.
  15. Hey all, Total newbie to the scripting world (I like to get in over my head sometimes though) but found a really useful applescript here for my workflow: http://www.tuaw.com/2013/04/15/applescripting-omnifocus-send-completed-task-report-to-evernot/ Bascially I want to call this applescript up when I type in "log" into alfred. I have the workflow laid out, but it doesn't seem to be firing. See here: http://cnrad.pw/p3WK And the script I just pasted into the applescript window like so: http://cnrad.pw/LWzU Must be something I'm missing. Probably really simple. Thanks in advance for the help.
  16. Hi Everybody, just got my mega supporter license and "Wow. Alfred 2 is fast!" Just created my first workflow: A File Action that creates a new OmniFocus Task with the File attached. Took me some time to get the applescript right (started out with the script in a screenshot http://patricklenz.com/posts/create-omnifocus-tasks-via-hazel-redux/ that didn't work for me) and refined it a little. You can download it here: http://d.pr/f/zdSH If you find any bugs just let me know. Christian
  17. Just a simple workflow to trigger a crazy AppleScript I cooked up a few months back. Keyword is "ingredientlist" (mine triggers on "ing"). Triggering it will run the AppleScript in the background and let you know once it's done. Download it now or keep reading for more details. How it works: The AppleScript grabs the URL of the front Safari window (only Safari for now) and pipes it through Recipe Distiller. Then it strips out everything but the ingredients on the resulting Recipe Distiller page. Each ingredient is added as a task to an OmniFocus project named "Recipes". You must have a project named "Recipes" in OmniFocus. Mine is a Single Action list. A notification will trigger when the script is done adding the ingredients to OmniFocus. Caveats: Will only cleanly pull ingredients from sites that Recipe Distiller can understand. Almost everywhere I've found a recipe I've gotten clean results. Some sites may grab something other than ingredients. Keep an eye out for errant items. There will always be a blank task before and after your ingredients. This is a bug that I now use as a feature; it surrounds the newly imported ingredients so I don't confuse them with other tasks. The script does not save the URL or page title from Safari. When I use this script I also grab that info with this OmniFocus bookmarklet. Once the ingredients are all in OmniFocus I nest them under the task created with the recipe name and URL. Why would anyone want to do this? Because you can. Oh also because sometimes I'm at the market and I look at interesting recipes I've saved and can then grab any ingredients I need. So go get it and get cooking. Download ingredientlist-to-of.zip
  18. Hello there Alfred users, Since I dont know how to script I was wondering if someone can create this type of workflow: The idea is simple, I want to be able to search for a name in my contacts app via keyword and after send it to omnifocus as a new task in the inbox. Th same idea could be applicable to email as well. What I mean is search for a contact, view it in alfred, copy phone number or email, copy to clipboard, go back to alfred where you can add a task that you will send to omnifocus where you will have a new task with email or phone in attachment. Now if I am thinking about it, is not that simple. Can this be done? its to complicated? Best regards, Leonard
