TLDR: Use this BetterTouchTool preset to display touch bar buttons for triggering Alfred workflows when the Alfred search bar is activated with a keyboard shortcut. Inspired by: Here's what it looks like (workflows not included): It works by: Using BTT to setup a keyboard shortcut that simultaneously activates the Alfred search bar (via applescript) and a touch bar group Setting up an external applescript trigger for the workflows in Alfred and creating buttons for triggering those workflows in the touch bar group Using BTT to create an escape key that also closes BTT touch bar groups It works this way because there's no way to detect the Alfred search bar itself. This does cause some problems: This wouldn't work for you if you don't want the escape key to close groups. A possible workaround is to have the Alfred workflows group to close on a timer instead (see: https://community.folivora.ai/t/auto-closing-touch-bar-groups/5935/3) Left clicking anywhere outside the Alfred search bar when it is open closes the search bar, but not the workflows touch bar group. On the whole though I find that it works quite smoothly. Installation: Requires BetterTouchTool, which costs $6.50 after a 45 day trial (https://folivora.ai/downloads) BTT preset: https://share.folivora.ai/sharedPreset/918335e2-5596-4e0d-a1cb-388e568f8cd0 Example Alfred workflow: http://www.packal.org/workflow/alfred-bettertouchtool-integration
Alfred 2.7.3 (412) on 10.10.5. BetterTouchTool 1.15 Since the focus model has changed, I can no longer type in Alfred's query box via BetterTouchTool Remote on my iPhone. I've tried both Standard and Compatibility Modes.
A simple Alfred workflow using osascript shell scripts to implement keyboard and mouse control in Apple’s “Help Viewer”. “Help Viewer” does not seem to want to do so natively, so this is a bit of a hack. Download. Github. BetterTouchTool Mouse Control is achieved through BetterTouchTool. “Help Viewer” never actually takes focus, so the shortcuts and settings must be enabled universally. Thus the out-of-the-way keyboard shortcuts bound to mouse buttons. Application-specific settings will override them: Further Development This workflow was created on 10.9.5 for Alfred 2.6 (374). I don’t plan to upgrade to Yosemite anytime soon, so I will keep it functional for Mavericks and Alfred updates. If you would like to adapt it for other versions, please do. If anyone knows how to get “Help Viewer” to respond directly to Applescript run by Keyboard Maestro or BetterTouchTool, that would be a much more straightforward method. I kept getting “posix_spawn: error 7” though.
