  1. Not sure what I am doing wrong but my "iTunes" mini player does not do anything when it is open. I can go through the playlists, albums, artists but will not play anything when they are selected.
  2. mac os 10.14.5 alfred 4.0.3 All removal operations in the software will report errors couldn't be moved to the trash.
  3. For some reason a few days ago my MacBook decided to poop out and freeze on boot. This forced me to reset my whole Mac back to its factory settings which obviously lost all of my stuff on it. Now that I have most of what is back I went to Alfred to try to put my workflows back on and the power pack wasn't their (again obvious). So when I checked my email and documents there was nothing I can't find my receipt or anything, I might be able to find something else if I knew what to look for or where to look for it. Please help I don't want to have to buy it all over again.
  4. Hello! This makes me feela a tiny bit stupid, but I struggle with what do to when I get to the update-screen. >.< Is there a button I should see? How do I get Alfred to download this update? I attach a screenshot, sorry for the unsharp fuzz. I'm on version 3.8 [959] on High Sierra 10.13.6 (17G5019) on a 13" MBP Very thankful for any help!
  5. Hello, I just upgraded to Alfred 3, and was able to sync my preferences on my first Mac (10.14) without a hitch. However, when I try to set the sync folder on the second Mac (also 10.14), the folder in Dropbox where my preferences are located is unselectable -- it is greyed out. The folder name is "apps." Again, I tried syncing on my second Mac, but the folder was greyed out. I set it up on my first Mac with no problems, but then was still unable to sync with my second Mac because the folder in not selectable. Any ideas why I would be able to sync on one but not the other? Thanks.
  6. I'm trying to install this chrome history workflow (https://github.com/tupton/alfred-chrome-history), but I'm not versed in terminal or coding at all. Can anyone further dumb-down the FROM SOURCE section of this repo for me to understand? Much appreciated.
  7. I just finished reading a great how-to article @ http://www.deanishe.net/alfred-mailto/. It was an exhaustive treatise on every little detail about that workflow (Mail To: workflow). We should have this sort of documentation downloaded with every Alfred workflow! ?
  8. It would be great when you say that "we have over a dozen examples and over 40 templates" (or words to that effect) if you appended that webpage (Alfred Blog > Tips and Tricks > Learn to Create Workflows with Alfred's Built-In Examples) with a follow-on webpage and link with a list of those examples and templates that you speak of, serving as a repository for us to go to for a one stop place to download from.
  9. Once upon a time, I was able to change the color of text selection in custom themes. Fn key seems to show selected text in theme window; however, the option to change color remains on 'font color'. Am I missing something here?
  10. Can I activate Powerpack on both home and work computers with a single purchase? I can see the advantages of Powerpack, but I don't want to make separate purchases and my workplace won't pay for activating Powerpack. Thank you.
  11. Hi, I'm trying to make a workflow that does the below but I am not sure how to achieve it. In short, I want to be able to add some text in Alfred and have it append this to a particular file. I'm just trying to make it easier to keep a project log. For this example, let's say that I have two projects that I am working on. Let's call the projects "apples" and "oranges". I'd like to be able to: Type 'log' into Alfred Enter a keyword to specify which project the entry relates to (e.g. "app" or "ora"). Then type some text. When I hit enter, I'd like the date and time to be prepended to the text I entered, then have everything added to the apples-log.md or oranges-log.md file. So, assuming that I have the apples-log.md file already created and stored in a specific directory, when I invoke Alfred and type "log app spoke with Frank and he confirmed that we should delete the database - backup of database stored on network drive under 'Frank's an idiot'..." the following should be added to the end of that .md file: <br /> 12/03/18 08:29am: spoke with Frank and he confirmed that we should delete the database - backup of database stored on network drive under 'Frank's an idiot'... <br /> Then later in the month, if I invoke Alfred and type "log app George called and is really pissed, apparently some idiot deleted the database... " the following should be added to the end of the apples-log.md file: <br /> 31/03/18 02:55pm: George called and is really pissed, apparently some idiot deleted the database... <br /> Does that make sense? It would also be great if I could type "log app", have the date and time added to the log-apples.txt file and then have the log-apples.txt file open so that I can type a longer entry, but this isn't essential. I'd really appreciate some help with this. Happy to pay someone for their time to get this setup. Thank you.
  12. I love having some kind of consistency in whatever I am doing. I recently wrote a wiki article about my process I go through when making and releasing workflows step by step. Currently this includes Go workflows I write with AwGo library and my non Go workflows I write that I publish in small workflows repo. I really hope that this article will be helpful and I am very open and eager to receive thoughts and feedback on it. Thank you. ? Read the article
  13. I've managed various Facebook pages over the years (currently 3), and lately I've been wishing more and more to do some of that management via Alfred. This week I started hacking on it a bit, but I decided to work on a personal Facebook workflow first to get the feel for working with the Graph API, and then moving on to one for page management. I wanted to post about it here, just to see (a) if there was much interest in it besides for my own usage, (b) if so, what Facebooky things do you wish you could do via Alfred, either personal or page related? What's working now or will be shortly... Login to Facebook app. A regular (text) post to Timeline Link post to Timeline. Photo post to Timeline Post video to Timeline Upload photo to album Upload new video File action to upload photo to Timeline. File action to create new album with multiple photos. Other ideas I've had... List last n items I posted (posts, photos, videos) and open in browser. List my groups and open selection in browser. List my events and open selection in browser. List my friend lists and open selected list in browser. Search, narrowed by any of the above items. If anyone has ideas/suggestions about the best way to organize the different items below for easy access in a workflow, I'm all ears as well—there's a lot of options here, and I want to make sure it's as easy as possible to use quickly!
  14. Hey Forum, I use Alfred's clipboard manager ~100 times per day, often in a terminal window. However I am using iTerm2's hotkey (⌥<Space>) window which opens the terminal as an overlay. Unfortunately, triggering the clipboard manager (⌥⌘C) causes the hotkey window to close. Thus, in order to paste several entries I paste one into the terminal then paste the next one into another application effectively moving it to the top of the clipboard stack and repeat. It would be excellent if it was possible to do one of the following: shuffle the clipboard (make the next item down active so that ⌘V would paste it) pop the top item off the stack (pasting it and removing it the same way you can with ⌫) I've done some searching and this seems to indicate that we cannot manipulate Alfred's clipboard manager. Alfred's clipboard manager is the best one I've used (searchable and no mouse required) but I'd be open to alternative suggestions Thank, Ben
  15. I don't know AppleScript myself, which is why I came here to ask for help. The workflow works like this. Keyboard shortcut > run usr/bin/osascript > play sound this is the code inside the script (I didn't write it myself, found it on apple support forums and slightly modified it): tell application "System Preferences" reveal pane id "com.apple.preference.keyboard" tell application "System Events" tell process "System Preferences" tell window "Keyboard" tell tab group 1 click radio button "Dictation" tell radio group 1 if value of radio button "On" is 0 then click radio button "On" else click radio button "Off" end if end tell end tell if sheet 1 exists then tell sheet 1 click button "Enable Dictation" repeat while sheet 1 exists end repeat end tell end if end tell end tell end tell quit -- optional end tell Now the script does successfully toggle dictation, but whenever I turn dictation back on using the workflow, the spoken keyword phrase (which is found under system preferences > accessibility > dictation > [ ] enable the dictation keyword phrase) is disabled, even though the UI shows that it is enabled. I have to turn it off and on again to get it to work. Could one of you tell me how I'd have to edit the script to make it so that dictation is turned back on with the keyword phrase still active? My guess is that if "click radio button "Off" is performed, the script should also go into "Accessibility" and switch "enable the dictation keyword phrase" off and on again. I'd really appreciate the help & think it wouldn't take very long to fix for someone who knows AppleScript. Thanks!
  16. Hello, Maybe I missed something, but here is what I would love to see. Problem As I have several workflows installed, it gets more and more difficult to master them all. I simply do not remember all the possibilities offered by each of them. I always feel like I am missing lots of useful features. Suggested solution I believe it would be nice if Alfred could auto-build up a help feature for those workflows that I have customized and installed. How ? I'm thinking about typing a keyword like "workflows" in order to get a list of all the workflows that I have installed. When selecting one (eg. workflows > Advanced Google Maps Search ), I would have a condensed help section with all commands available (eg. keyword one=> description of the feature, keyword two=> description of the feature, keyword three => description of the feature etc...) Ideally, it would be smart enough to understand when I changed a default keyword to a custom one Implications I am not a developer but this probably implies that workflow authors agree on a specific document that Alfred would automatically retrieve whenever the user types the initial keyword (workflows) Now maybe there is a workflow to master all other workflows like that. I don't know. If I missed something, let me know
  17. The help pages on AlfredApp.com are very … err… helpful, and it would be great if it were possible to link to subsections within all of them, rather than only to the page itself. For example, the File Search page has anchors for its various subsections, so you can link directly to "File Search", "File Navigation" etc., but the Using Variables in Workflows page doesn't. The Workflow Environment Variable panel is (as previously mentioned) a mystery to a lot of users. Rather than having to explain it in every README to avoid the inevitable "how do I set these variables?" questions, it would be very helpful to be able to link directly to the "Setting Workflow Environment Variables" section.
  18. Is it possible to configure Alfred to show the results ordered by type? For a given search term I would need to have the applications on the top, then contacts, bookmarks, documents and so on. Thanks. Massimiliano.
  19. Recently I have been really enjoying programming workflows in Go using @deanishe incredible AwGo library. So I decided to write an article on how anyone can start building things with Go by going through building a complete and working workflow from scratch. You can read the article here. I would really love to hear your thoughts on it. ? It is quite long in hindsight but I wanted to be as clear as I can be so anyone can follow along. I also leave some personal tips of my own that I use to help me develop workflows faster.

  21. I'm working on a script to play music using MPD. I want to list available albums and have Alfred filter them rather than doing the filtering myself in a script filter. But when I check the "Alfred filters results" check box, the result is an empty list regardless of what I type: If, on the other hand, I uncheck that box, I get a list of albums as expected, but I can't type to filter them: Here's my code, in Python. It's really not very complicated: from __future__ import unicode_literals from __future__ import print_function import json import os import subprocess import sys MUSIC_DIR = '/Users/Shared/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music' FIND_CMD = [ '/usr/local/bin/mpc', 'list', 'album' ] def make_item(album_name): return dict( title=album_name, uid=album_name, valid=True, arg=json.dumps({'album': album_name}), icon='icon.png', autocomplete=album_name, ) def main(): print(json.dumps({ 'items': [ make_item(item) for item in subprocess.check_output(FIND_CMD).decode('utf-8').split('\n') if item.strip() ] })) if __name__ == '__main__': sys.exit(main()) Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong?
  22. Huge thank you to Vitor without whom this workflow wouldn't exist : You can download it from here. Or you can view the GitHub page of it with more descriptions of it. Essentially this is an Alfred wrapper over a note taking project I am making and maintaining. It allows you to instantly visit any mind map that I have made. I have been working on this project for the past month and will be updating and maintaining it with more and more quality content as time passes. To get a better sense of what kind of mind maps do exist out there, try out searching for 'alfred' or 'workflows' or 'vim' For more, take a look at the project itself and go through the interactive mind map to get more context of how everything connects.
  23. There is this amazing application called Pixave (http://www.littlehj.com/#pixave-support). It has a free trial if you want to try it out. I use it to organise all my media files. One thing that is missing from it is getting the image I want from my library really quickly, ideally from Alfred. The app stores everything in some weird format. Here is the info of the library : I tried making a file filer for it but that returns nothing as expected. What I wish is to have an Alfred workflow that would allow me to scan through the entire of my library and open the image in Pixave. So if I have an image in Pixave library with this name : Searching for it in Alfred : Would show me this image as one of the results. From then on, I and click return and get to the Pixave library with that image focused. Another thing these images have are certain subfields like URL of the image. For example this image has this url : It would be awesome if you can extend this workflow, so with a modifier press on the result from above, it would put this link into user's clipboard. This would be phenomenal to have. I don't really even know where I can start developing this workflow. How can I read and retrieve all the items from this library. How can I make them actionable? I tried messaging the developer itself but he was unaware of what Alfred was and how it works. I would be grateful for any help I can get on this. It would probably save me days over course of months as I have a huge collection but interacting with it is a pain.
  24. Hey Folks, I'm wondering if anybody has a workflow that works similar to the Bookends workflow, which would enabling the searching of a Calibre library within Alfred. If not, does anybody have suggestions on what would be required in the workflow to do this? I'm thinking that the calibredb terminal commands would be helpful, but I'm not clear on how to get a workflow to play with that, particularly within Alfred, rather than as a mere jumping-off point for Terminal. Any help is appreciated!
  25. Hey all and happy new year ? I've read through this but it doesn't really specify how I can actually do what I want to do. What I want is to be able to call an Alfred script filter from applescript similar to how I can call Keyboard Maestro macros with this : osascript -e tell application "Keyboard Maestro Engine" do script ... -- where the name of the script goes end tell
