  1. I found myself chatting with people from time to time and needing to send equations. Obviously when Latex is available it's preferable but sometimes it's not. As a result I need a solution that requires zero installs but formats text a little better than you can get with the standard characters on the keyboard. Example: let's not say x^2 but x². Let's not say sqrt(x) but √(x). I want to be able to do this without looking up characters in a character table and I don't want it to add to how much I have to type much. Enter snippets. They allow for decently complex notation without needing L
  2. I noticed that when I use text expansion in VS Code, the snippets don't expand fully. It seems to occur when the Markdown All in One extension is enabled. I've opened an issue here: Text snippets don't expand correctly when using text expansion, with Markdown All in One enabled · Issue #200 · neilsustc/vscode-markdown. I did some additional testing with TextExpander and I wasn't able to reproduce the issue when I expanded snippets in TextExpander, when the Markdown All in One extension is enabled in VS Code. Would there be something about how Alfred expands snippets tha
  3. Update: I appreciate the responses. After reflection, however, I think I misstated my issue. I'll restate it (hopefully more clearly—sorry for the confusion): Upon entering the first character of the keyword trigger for the expansion, I am presented with a list of the available expansions in my Alfred window. In the case of a couple of my expansions, I would prefer to have (some of) them not appear until the entire keyword has been entered. Thanks again… I've set up several text-expansion workflows, each triggered with a 4-character keyword. My problem is that the workflow is
  4. I've just installed Alfred 4. I've made sure Alfred Text Service is added under Security and Privacy on Chrome Preferences. I restarted my computer. But I keep getting message that Finder is blocking text expansion. Help, please?
  5. Basically what I want is instead of "auto expanding" what would be nice is to type your keyword, and then hit tab to expand it. Example: (you type) lorem + TAB which would equate to Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.
  6. Snippets Simple, document-specific text snippets Version: 1.2 Download on Packal Have you ever been taking notes and realized that certain terms or phrases were going to be used repeatedly? You don't have the time or really the desire to create all new TextExpander snippets for these terms or phrases, but you'd also really like to shorten your typing. That's where Snippets comes in. Snippets is a dead simple Alfred workflow that allows you to use simple snippet syntax while writing, and then seamlessly convert your text to its full glory. The set-up is simple. As you're ty
  7. I recently read this blog post about text expansion: here by our very own David Ferguson, about text expansion. I love this idea, and have used it thousands of times. But, I was thinking that there should be an output option to simply paste whatever text in the frontmost app. The only difference between this and the "copy to clipboard" output would be that you could use this for text expansion and wouldn't flood your clipboard. Please implement this in the next update!
