  1. Hi, guys, I am a newbie to Alfred. I want to use Alfred Snippets to do some text expanding task. Like writing the markdown liquid headers in my blogs: --- layout:post title: 2-debugger_demo.md date: 2021-11-06 15:34:07 +08:00 tags: [] toc: true --- I use Typinator before, I can customize my snippet as following: --- layout:post title: {Scripts/FrontWindowTitle.applescript} date: {YYYY}-{MM}-{DD} {h024}:{m}:{s} {zn} tags: [] toc: true --- In above snippet, {YYYY}-{MM}-{DD} {h024}:{m}:{s} {zn} works like {date:yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss Z} in Alfred snippet. What I cares is the property `title: {Scripts/FrontWindowTitle.applescript}`. Here this applescript just returns the frontmost window's title. At most occassions, this title is the document's name. That's what I want. The script file is as following, which is very easy: tell application "System Events" set frontApp to name of first application process whose frontmost is true end tell tell application frontApp set windowTitle to the name of the front window end tell return windowTitle Now I want to use Alfred Snippet & Snippet Trigger to replace Typinator, so I: - add a snippet in Alfred : --- layout:post title: {cursor} date: {date:yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss Z} tags: [] toc: true --- - and I add a workflow including a Snippet Trigger: Here, step 2 applescript update {query} to the window title, and copy to clipboard. I can type `\\title` to get the title of window correctly. But when I type `!post` which triggers the snippet, it generate: --- layout:post title: {snippet:\\title} date: 2021-11-06 15:48:08 +0800 tags: [] toc: true --- Apparently, it didn't call the Snippet Trigger. I don't know how to solve this problem, Please help me. Thanks!
  2. Is there any way to import over my TextExpander snippets into Alfred v3? I found this, but Github is a bit beyond me, no idea how to get started.
  3. Hi all, Might anyone have a textexpander workflow they're willing to share? I'm sticking with textexpander for now since I also use it on iOS. I found one from 2015 that seems broken https://github.com/ramiroaraujo/alfred-textexpander-workflow
  4. Hi -- I'm a long time Text Expander user that has fallen in love with Alfred, and am wondering if I can do everything I need with the latter. One thing I'm still struggling with is how to implement a system to enforce consistent filen aming conventions. Basically I need a system to help me stay disciplined about naming basic PDFs (home and business records) using a convention like YYYY-MM-DD - <vendor> - <account> - <purpose> So my bills would end up being something like 2018-01-15 - ATT - XX5555 - confirmation of invoice payment.pdf I've done this in text expander by creating a snippet that launches a dialog that pre-computes some of the above (like the correctly formatted date) and then gives me drop-down menus to select the vendor, account and transaction type/purpose. An example of this strategy, with screenshots, is nicely written up here. A key benefit is that you can trigger it with a single snippet, and the finish it with 2-3 clicks. I originally tried creating individual snippets for each type of file (e.g. "ATTConfirmInv") but there were too many combinations of vendors and transaction types to remember. This model works well for us. So I'm looking for something that can apply to a breadth of different naming conventions but be triggered by a single keyword, plus some additional user data entry. As far as I can tell, Alfred doesn't have a framework for creating interactive UIs like this. Is there an alternate approach that anyone has worked through that could provide a similar result? I have not explored Alfred workflows yet, so if there is a path using that capability, I'd appreciate some pointers. Thanks in advance! Ramon
  5. Hi I still use the last v2 with Power Pack and I works on El Capitain 10.11.4 Usually, to quickly reach a folder, I have some TextExpander snippet to display directory. For eg, ,,dactions expands /Users/aglekis3/Actions/ in Alfred field. Since few weeks, it stop working. Any idea? Thanks, Grégoire
