  1. Brief Instructions: 1. Import it. 2. Set snippet. 3. Use it with keyword to copy URI link to clipboard and paste where you want, or with snippet in your text editor. 2. I removed Flash from my system long ago but occasionally I need to make use of the version bundled with Chrome to view certain web pages properly. There are a few workflows like this around, but as the only browsers I use are Safari and Chrome I wanted something a little more direct than Send URL which led me to this alternative made by Runar. There were a few issues with that workflow, so I made a version which (hopefully) deals with everything in a tidy and intelligent manner. If Safari is either not open, or has no windows open, the workflow will post a notification saying so. If you'd like it to also post notifications when URLs are successfully sent to Chrome open the workflow folder (right click the workflow in Alfred and click Show in Finder) and edit the appropriate line in open_in_chrome.scpt (it's clearly marked). The reverse behaviour is also available (i.e.: sending URLs from Chrome to Safari). Hat tip to Carlos-Sz for getting Alfred to run the Applescript properly 🙂 Download (v1.0.2): Open in Chrome GitHub Keywords: openinchrome, openinsafari
  3. Shorten URL (v1.1) - download here Github Page: https://github.com/hzlzh/Alfred-Workflows This workflow support URL shortener like below. You can use Hotkey to trigger without open Alfred input window. goo.gl/ bit.ly/ t.cn/ j.mp/ is.gd/ v.gd/ If you want more URL shortener services added, please let me know, . How-To: Choose some long links (e.g Command + A), then press `Command + Shift +L`, choose goo.gl and you will get the short link in your clipboard with notification center triggered. Tips: How to use this workflow without copy/paste? Just use trigger HotKey, check out this wiki issue here: https://github.com/h...kflows/issues/1 Screenshot:
  4. This may not be a bug, but it's worth noting: When you use open location to open a URL from inside an NSAppleScript action, it must be in the tell application "System Events" context, otherwise it will fail silently (as of Alfred 2.0.3 on OS X 10.8.3). For instance, to open URL "http://boston.com", you need to use the following: tell application "System Events" to open location "http://boston.com" # fails without `tell application "System Events" to` Note: If an action's sole purpose is to open a URL with the default handler, it is better to use the dedicated Open URL action type instead, which avoids this problem.
  5. I created a small Workflow which removes SEO and other unneeded parts from URLs to make them shorter, reason for this were those long Amazon product page URLs that can be shortened to only contain the actual Amazon product ID in the URL. If I collect or share those URLs I usually shortened by hand them to not clutter chat logs etc. I never wanted to rely on URL shortener like bit.ly etc. to not get lost when those services shut down. So this workflow checks your clipboard and tries to shorten the URL to it's bare working minimum for the service. Currently supported are Amazon, Heise and Reddit, YouTube with their respective URL shorteners. I'm not sure if this is particular useful to someone else, nevertheless here it is. https://github.com/stroebjo/alfred-cleanurls/releases
  6. Hi everyone. I have a collection of custom web searches that I would like to execute using a hyperlink. This way I have a clickable solution to run it when presented with a reminder or am reviewing my notes. I could create a workflow with an external trigger, but it feels like a lot of added overhead to build and maintain for a simple mechanism. Is there a mechanism to trigger a specific Alfred custom web search via a hyperlink? e.g. "alfred://websearch (You need to check this today)"
  7. Hey everyone, I'm running on High Sierra and for some reason can't get even the simplest of workflows in Alfred to work with Google Chrome. For example, the workflow in the attached screen shot works when the browser is changed to Safari, but when I try to open it in a Chrome browser, all it does is open a new Chrome window with a blank URL. Any idea what's going on / how to fix it? This is such a core tenet of how I want to use Alfred workflows - I really hope we can figure this out! Cheers, Palmira
  8. A simple Workflow created after the very often used Workflow by Kopepasah no longer seemed to work (not sure if a Google thing or a Alfred 3 thing) The speed in which it returns the short URL is very fast, especially compared to my experiences with the previous PHP iteration. I was messing with making the user having to register their own api with Google before use. But figured this was too complicated for non developers so it currently uses what Google call a public server API created by myself which allows for 1,000,000 a day (which should be fine). http://www.packal.org/workflow/google-url-shortner
  9. Does anybody know how to set up the Web Search feature in Alfred to work with SSRN (Social Science Research Network)? For those unfamiliar with SSRN, it's website for sharing research (usually early drafts and things in the public domain). Unfortunately, while it's now owned by Elsevier, it's still probably the most used repository for pre-publication research papers. When I run search either through its standard or advanced search pages, the search terms are not located in the URL. Unlike Google and other search-related websites, I also can't seem to find any documentation on its search API, etc. For example, when I search for the terms "test search" using the advanced search, the search results are communicated through the following URL: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/results.cfm?RequestTimeout=50000000 Given these constraints, does anybody have any ideas for how to set up Alfred's Web Search feature with SSRN? Thanks in advance!
  10. This seems like it's simple, but I don't find anything about how to create a clickable link that will trigger a workflow. We have several workflows we'd like to trigger externally by clicking a link we've placed in another application. is that possible?
  11. Hi! I felt a little hesitate to start my first topic, because I think my question is quite simple but I couldn't find the answer yet in the forums. But since this is the reason I started using Alfred, I might just ask the community On my Mac, I use different email applications and browsers to seperate work and private. I use Outlook and Firefox for work and Airmail and Chrome for my private stuff. Now, Chrome is my default browser. What I want to achieve is that all links that I click on in Outlook are opened in Firefox. Is this possible? Thanks for helping out! Cheers, Daniel
  12. I almost didn't post this as a bug, because I'll leave it to Alfred's parents to decide. It's quite possible a "behavior subtlety" which has "evolved." But on the chance it was an unintended change: Build 875, Monday 25th September 2017, although this seems to have been a behavior since the new bookmark search behavior instead of something peculiar to this build. I'm still holding off on installing High Sierra until we get the all-clear with Adobe Illustrator and a few production tools. So this is in the current Sierra. For a long time I've organized browser bookmarks using full names and unique abbreviations in parentheses, e.g. National Hurricane Center (NHC) Storm Prediction Center (SPC) National Weather Service (NWS) Then I would recall such things using the abbreviation. "<Search box> NHC " or "<Search box> SPC" In earlier versions, the search would return links including the above examples. In the current version, the pattern does not return as a match unless I also type the first parenthesis. Now required: "<Search box> (NHC" or "<Search box> (SPC" I don't know that I have any objection to this, but I mention it in case it was unintended. Or perhaps the unlikely case where it has changed the way a script behaves. I certainly don't mind changing my scheme if the new behavior is preferred. :-) Thanks very much for the ongoing improvements and support of Alfred!
  13. Hello everyone! I have link https://www.shutterstock.com/search?searchterm=test&sort=popular&image_type=all&search_source=base_landing_page&language=en&page=1 The question is, how can I go to the page=2 https://www.shutterstock.com/search?searchterm=test&sort=popular&image_type=all&search_source=base_landing_page&language=en&page=2, and page 2+1=3, https://www.shutterstock.com/search?searchterm=test&sort=popular&image_type=all&search_source=base_landing_page&language=en&page=3, and page 3+1=4, https://www.shutterstock.com/search?searchterm=test&sort=popular&image_type=all&search_source=base_landing_page&language=en&page=4, and page 4+1=5 ... , etc ... on the same tab on Safari, with shortcut? It will save a lot of time. Thank you for any help!
  14. The workflow takes the url of the active safari tab, and copies it to the clipboard. If you want it also throws the the page title in there. If you have selected some text, it tries to recognize that and takes that instead of the page title. It also can directly paste that whole string. That's it. Tremendously helpful for IM conversations or as a starting point for a Tweet. I have bound it like this CMD Option U to copy URL CMD Option Shift U to paste URL CMD Option K to copy Page Title and URL CMD Option Shift K to paste Page Title/Selected Text and URL Originally created by Michael Matochkin, I adapted the workflow over time and now publish it here. Original credits in the readme: Based on Alfred extensions by Luca Soldaini (original applescript by Dr. Drang) and Zibity I've used an icon from the Stylistica Icon Set That should cover it. And of course: here is the UPDATED workflow download link (see my latest comment for more info) Cheers! Timm
  15. Good evening everybody, I am looking for directions (a) to find an already existing workflow (that I wasn't able to find) or (b) to allow me to create my own, in regards to the following "problem": I use Safari as my primary and have Opera installed as my secondary browser. While viewing a website in Safari, I sometimes would like to be able to use an Alfred-keyword to open the same website in Opera and vice-versa. Any directions? Thank you!
  16. Three or four times a week I run afoul of Alfred's URL search by typing something like: ag.vim install.py config.sh CSV::Converter etc. etc. Alfred thinks these are all URLs and tries to open them. Could we use a better regex to separate genuine from spurious URLs?
  17. How do people handle frequently-used URLs in Alfred? I handle these in two ways: 1. Use a workflow that reads from your browser favorites. 2. Define a custom search for the URL (with our without parameters) so I can just open it with a keyword. Option 1 works but I don't like having to remember to type the workflow keyword first. Instead I end up doing Option 2 for my most commonly used urls so I can open them quickly, but it's annoying to have to define each one individually. If I type a URL in Alfred, then it will remember next time I start typing the same URL and suggest it. But often I type the URL directly in the browser, and then Alfred doesn't have access to it. Ideally I could give Alfred access to my browser's history folder and let it intelligently compile a list of sites I actually visit. Anyway, how do most people do this?
  18. Hello, I am learning WorkFlow, and now I am trying to make a simple one to open webpages using predefined keyword and arguments. For example, I'd like to open "www.google.com" by typing "www gg" in Alfred, and to open "www.bing.com" by typing "www bb" in Alfred. In order to do so, I think I may need some "if" statements somewhere between Keyword and Open URL components in order to map "gg" to "www.google.com" and "bb" to "www.bing.com", but have no idea how to do so. Can you please help me out?
  19. I've created a small workflow that automates something that I've find myself doing very often: copying a website as an HTML hyperlink text and pasting it into the footnote of my notes to track my sources. Simply type copylink or copylinkmd to see a list of open browser tabs (currently for Chrome and Safari only). Then, select one to copy the title of the page linked to the URL. Download v1.3 | Github See Github page for release notes. Hope you'll find it useful. Let me know of any bugs or feedback below. — Charlie
  20. Hey guys, quick question. Is there any easy way to use an image from a URL as the icon for a script filter? I've been downloading about 50 compressed thumbnails everytime I use a script I've been writing. (extremely slow) Do you guys know of any easier way to get images from a URL as a script filter icon? Thanks
  21. Hi, I am a designer and for my job I need sometimes to find a bunch of pictures for my design presentation. I've read several thread regarding this but I think I am still clueless as to how it works. Maybe just need some one to point me to the right direction. What I am looking for: I have a small list (10-15 words) with keywords on txt file: one two three ... ten And there is one site which I want to open in standard browser (safari) with this list of urls: https://www.shutterstock.com/search/one https://www.shutterstock.com/search/two https://www.shutterstock.com/search/three ... https://www.shutterstock.com/search/ten What is the best way to do it? Any help would be appreciated.
  22. Hi, I want to create a workflow. Somewhere into the workflow I want to open a url which is saved into 1Passwort with its username and password. When I open in with 1P .... then the website will be opened into a new browser tab, and the username and password will be filled into the fields, and it will be login automatically. But how can I integrate it into my workflow? Thanks for help, Mondy
  23. Hey! I often find myself in a situation where I need to paste the URL from one of my Safari bookmarks to someone in email, chat, forums, etc. It's great that I can easily find bookmarks in Alfred but in these cases I don't want to open the bookmark in my browser, I just want to copy its URL to the clipboard without leaving whatever app I'm in. Would anyone be kind enough to help me figure out how to accomplish this? Thanks!

  25. v2.8.1 (425) / El Cap I was just tinkering with a web search URL on the forum, trying to get it to be clickable and/or visible. The problem is that the forum software mangles alfred:// URLs if pasted and strips them from BBCode links. The only way to show them on the forum is in code blocks. And what do you do after copying the URL from the webpage? If you paste the URL in a web browser, it works correctly: However, if you pass the URL to open or paste it into Alfred's query box, the URL isn't unescaped:
