  1. I've added custom search for Amazon UK but cannot get it to work, which is a pan as I use Amazon every day. I've tried the following in the search URL but none work: https://www.amazon.co.uk/search?q={query} https://www.amazon.co.uk/search/?q={query} https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?q={query} https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?q={query} Can anyone advise?
  2. Hi Guys, Quick question. I am jump between a couple of browsers when I am working and trading...for various reasons like privacy etc Is there anyway of changing the setting on "Web Search" to open in the browser that I am currently in, rather than the default. Currently, I will be working in on browser, do a Alfred web search, and it bounces me into the default browser. I could not work out a workround. Any tips would be appreciated!

  4. I would love to see Alfred’s Web Bookmarks and Web Search features allow for alternative browser opening options. Like most people these days, I often find myself needing to switch between browsers during the day. Since Alfred’s Web Bookmarks and Web Search features are tied to the user’s default browser (or, in the case of Web Bookmarks, the browser where the bookmarks came from), I have had to create a bunch of workaround workflows. However, I’d love to go back and start using Alfred’s under the hood features again. Alfred’s Web Search, for example, makes it so much easier to see everything than in a bunch of messy workflows. There are a lot of different ways one might implement this functionality, so I thought I’d throw out a few ideas below. I’ve tried to stay within the usual confines, without calling for anything too crazy. However, @Andrew, please feel free to put me in my place if I’m way over the moon with these. As always, thanks for your consideration! Web Bookmarks In its “Open Bookmarks” dropdown, add one of the following options: “on a case-by-case basis”: This option would prompt the user to select the browser where they want to open the bookmark each time. This is probably my least favorite option, but I thought I’d go ahead and suggest it. I imagine this could work like a list filter - i.e., where it’d just show the user a list of their installed browsers, and they could select the one they liked. “call external workflow”: This option would just send the url to an external trigger defined by the user. If this option is selected, it would then have to open another dropdown where the user could select the appropriate Trigger ID, etc. This option sounds like it would give users the most control over everything. However, I imagine that it’s also the most complicated. Add a new “Modifier Key” option with (1) a dropdown that allows users to select a modifier key (e.g., command, option, control, function, shift), and (2) another dropdown that allows users to select a browser that’s installed in its system - much like Alfred’s “Open URL” action does (see screenshot below). All told, this is probably my favorite option because it seems like the least amount of work, and it feels like others options that are presently in Alfred already. If you wanted, you could also add the default options to this dropdown too (e.g., “in macOS default browser” and “in bookmark’s source browser”), or even the first two suggestions above (“on a case-by-case basis” OR “call external workflow”). As a quick aside, I would also love to see a Hotkey option added to Web Bookmarks - like below. I understand that you can make a hotkey search using your designated keyword, but I hate having other stuff in my results. Web Search In theory, all of the options from above could work here, too. For example, while it looks a little wonky, here’s a screenshot of how the the “Modifier Key” option might operate. Alternatively, I imagine some people would like to specify this within each individual custom search. I suspect this might make Alfred a little overly bloated, however.
  5. I previously shared a directory of nearly 200 Custom Web Searches that I maintain. I've continued adding more searches to it, along with custom icons to accompany the searches. Up until now, however, I hadn't done the same thing for the web searches that come pre-installed in Alfred. I decided that I didn't like the look of the default icons (several of them are outdated), so I created a free set of 20 starter icons to replace them! Download the 🎩 20 Starter Web Search Icons Since Alfred doesn't let you modify the pre-installed web searches, you'll need to install redundant searches and then apply the icons to the replacement searches. There's an enclosed README in the download that includes instructions and links to quickly complete this process. Enjoy!
  6. Hi there, Maybe I am missing something obvious? I can't see any way to delete a custom web search once it has been created (both Alfred 3 and 4). Am I overlooking something? Many thanks, Steve
  7. I've set up a custom web search as follows: But it's not triggering when I type the keyword: I'm sure I'm doing something stupid, but I can't work out what it might be.
  8. Does anyone know how to create an account-specific URL for Google Drive? In the past, my Google Drive-related Alfred workflows relied on the following paths: Open Drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/account@gmail.com Search Drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/account@gmail.com/search?q={query} However, this approach seems to have stopped working a few weeks ago (at least, that's when I noticed it). Now, I just receive an error indicating that the URL was not found on the server. To be clear, you can still open and search Google Drive by using the number associated with the account - numbered from from zero and up based on the order in which you've logged in to them (e.g., https://drive.google.com/drive/u/2). However, I've never been a big fan of this approach because if you log in to your accounts in a different order, then the associated account numbers in the URL will change. For example, https://drive.google.com/drive/u/2 may become https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0. Oddly enough, this account-specific approach still seems to work for gmail. So, for example, the following paths still seem to work fine: Open Gmail: https://mail.google.com/mail/u/account@gmail.com Search Gmail: https://mail.google.com/mail/u/account@gmail.com/search?q={query} Are others noticing the same problem? I've tried logging in and out several times to make sure that I'm properly signed in to everything. I've also tried different browsers, but the problem with Google Drive appears to persist. I couldn't find much about this issue posted in this forum or others - like Stack Exchange - but I was hoping that someone with similar workflows might have some advice (or knowledge of whether Google is changing its approach). Thanks for any help you can lend!
  9. I came across a website: https://www.jiumodiary.com/ After the search results returned, I found no {query} in the URL bar! Excuse me, how can I set the Search URL in web search in Alfred?
  10. Good Day! Maybe this issue has been already raised here, but I still can't get, why I have no ability to change my web search engines. Alfred offers us only choosing the country, we live in, and it will adjust search engines by itself. But his choice doesn't satisfy me. Alfred still uses Google, Amazon and Wikipedia. I use NOTHING of these. I prefer Yandex services, that are very popular in Russia. So, it would be extremely convenient, if I had an ability (working the same as Alfred's general "Web Search" feature) to set my own web search engines. Maybe, I want five or only two prime resources. Maybe I need specific professional ones like stackoverflow.com or kinopoisk.ru. Why don't you have implemented this at the beginning of Alfred? Or I don't know something? Explain, please. Thanks in advance!
  11. Hi, Not sure if this is a bug or how it is supposed to run. My issue is I can't use the hot key CMD + Return(or any of the other hot key options listed in the advanced tab) to perform a web search in my default browser without having a fall back result. I like keeping Alfred minimal and didnt want to have any fall back searches. Id rather simply use the hot key however, once I remove all the fall back searches, the hot key no longer triggers a web search.
  12. Does anybody know how to set up the Web Search feature in Alfred to work with SSRN (Social Science Research Network)? For those unfamiliar with SSRN, it's website for sharing research (usually early drafts and things in the public domain). Unfortunately, while it's now owned by Elsevier, it's still probably the most used repository for pre-publication research papers. When I run search either through its standard or advanced search pages, the search terms are not located in the URL. Unlike Google and other search-related websites, I also can't seem to find any documentation on its search API, etc. For example, when I search for the terms "test search" using the advanced search, the search results are communicated through the following URL: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/results.cfm?RequestTimeout=50000000 Given these constraints, does anybody have any ideas for how to set up Alfred's Web Search feature with SSRN? Thanks in advance!
  13. Hi there, I'm having a bit of trouble searching the web from the alfred search bar. Once I've entered the search query and pressed <enter>, it just pulls up a new blank window. It does this whether I try to search google, amazon, or wikipedia and it does it for all search queries that I have tried. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Background Hey everyone! I’ve created two workflows that allows you to search web pages. This is my first workflow, let me know what all I messed up Many thanks to @zetavg for some initial direction. Demand I’m searching for the great investor’s information recently, and put information in Zotero groups library: Zotero | Groups > OMlalala > Library The information include autobiography, the letter to shareholders, books(English version, Simplified Chinese version, Traditional Chinese version ), and etc. So, I have to repeatedly search from web pages like Google, wiki, amazon, valuewalk, and etc. Workflow With curiosity and excitement, I set two workflows. Installation: Github) Search investor in multiple webpages function: search investor’s information in English version and Traditional Chinese version usage: en + investor’s name example Search books in Amazon China function: search investor’s books in Simplified Chinese version usage: cn + investor’s name example: Thanks zetavg (Pokai Chang) for giving me an excellent example to work off of in his alfred-google-translate-workflow. Changelog 20170904 Version 1.0 Init
  15. Hi all! Mega supporter since the beginnings and first time trouble Since a fresh 10.12.6 install, Alfred 3.4.1 doesn't seem to recognize anymore: - my custom web searches' keywords. Those web searches are simple and straightforward, have worked fine for ever, not been changed and! Still work with the 'test' button in edit mode. But typing a keyword in Alfred treats it like a random input (see example screenshot). The web searches are enabled. - any workflow keyword. Be it default, custom or freshly imported 3rd party (see example screenshot). The workflows are activated. Thank you very much for your time and help! Best, Alexis
  16. i'm trying to make a search for wookiepedia but i'm not getting it to work correctly is this the correct format? Search URL: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Search Title: Search Wookieepedia for '{query}' keyword: wookie i'd just copy the contents of the wikipedia web search but it won't show me the settings
  17. How can I add this web to web search? https://cse.google.com/cse/publicurl?cx=003551902044340384269:hlzwnik3eqi
  18. I have 2 custom web searches for google drive "gd" and "gdu" where "gdu" has a {query} in the url keyword search url gd https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/my-drive gdu 2 https://drive.google.com/drive/u/{query}/my-drive They both work as expected alone. but when they are both enabled the "Enter" choice is always the most previous one that was used. Meaning if the last one I used was gdu 2 (which worked) When I type in the second one "gd"it completes to gdu and waits for the query input even though it has the EXACT query. CASE Types in "gd" first option provided is: gdu second option provided: gd Presses enter: typed in text changes to "gdu" pressing enter with "gd" autocompletes to "gdu" and waits for input. Question: Is there a way for exact matches to populate the FIRST result in Alfred?? What I want no matter what the previous query was. CASE Types in "gd" Executes Just starting with Alfred (Launchers in general, other than spotlight) and I'm really liking it.
  19. I am still in the initial stages of adding a bunch of custom workflows since reinstalling everything after a fresh OSX install and I'm finding it cumbersome to go into alfred settings each time to add a web search. I usually just add them whenever they occur to me or when I visit a site that would have a handy search to use, so I'm wondering if anybody knows of a workflow to accomplish this all from a single line.
  20. Hi. This is probably dead simple but i cant find the answers... How do I create a web search string that uses the google search engine to search a specific web site? I have tried to create a web search for this site. www.99musik.se But it doesnt let me search even though I am a member and logged in, how is that. Maybe the site must verify that it is me that is logged in who does the search? Can somebody please point me in the right direction? Thanks
  21. I unchecked the enable boxes for all Google and Amazon searches, but when I search, I only get Google, Amazon and Wiki options, and no DuckDuckGo (or other) searches. This worked perfectly before I lost my preferences. What am I doing wrong? Is it possible to delete Google search entirely?
  22. I would like to use (either standard alfred web search or a custom workflow) alfred to launch google searches. At the moment, they all open in a new window if the app (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) is not already open. I would like the behavior to be that the search opens in a new tab even if the app is currently closed, and is launched by the alfred query. Any help appreciated.
  23. I'm trying to make a custom web search for the Wayback Machine. The query looks like this https://web.archive.org/web/*/{query} where {query} is a full URL from the clipboard. The problem is that Alfred changes the special characters into %2F and such so that the resulting search URL looks like: https://web.archive.org/web/*/http%3A%2F%2Fexamplecom%2F Is this solvable, or will I need a workflow of some sort?

  25. Hi, there. For as long as I can remember, Alfred includes a predefined web search for Google Images. However, the web search no longer reflects Google's current URL structure for image searches, which results in a redirect and a flash of unstyled content. Alfred's Google Images search URL: https://www.google.com/images?q=alfred New Google Images search URL: https://www.google.com/search?q=alfred&tbm=isch Of course, I am able to create a custom web search with the correct URL. However, I would ideally prefer not to do this (at least I shouldn't need to do this). Regardless, I can't imagine this would be at all difficult to fix internally. Therefore, I do hope you find a moment to tweak this and make Alfred just a little bit better. Thanks, Caleb
