si7
Hi there, I'm having a bit of trouble searching the web from the alfred search bar. Once I've entered the search query and pressed <enter>, it just pulls up a new blank window. It does this whether I try to search google, amazon, or wikipedia and it does it for all search queries that I have tried. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Link to comment
Vero
@si7 Are you using Google Chrome? If so, you'll need to restart Chrome. It looks like over the past few days, Chrome has updated in the background for users, and won't open new URLs (when clicked from anywhere, not just Alfred.) until it's restarted. si7
That worked, thanks so much. Can't believe it was such a simple fix. Is there any indication as to what is causing this? I've used Alfred and Chrome for over a year now and haven't had to worry about this. Link to comment
Vero
@si7 As far as I can tell, Google Chrome updated in the background and got itself into a muddle, failing to open URLs given to it by macOS and other apps. Hopefully it's a one-off and doesn't occur in future Chrome updates, but it's unrelated to Alfred. It just so happens that Alfred tends to be the first app users launch a URL or web search from.
