Dan L
I'm trying to create a workflow that allows me to assign a shortcut that will open up specific apps on specific desktops. Is this possible with Alfred (haven't purchased the Powerpack or used Alfred yet). For example, when I boot into os x, from a blank slate, I want to be able to click a button or use a keystroke that allows me to open up terminal on desktop 1, Google Chrome on Desktop 2 (ideally two accounts for chrome on separate desktops), another app on desktop 3, etc. etc. Link to comment

deanishe
No program can do this, AFAIK, because there aren't any APIs for telling macOS to open an app on a specific desktop. The proper (i.e. only) way to do this is to assign an application to a specific desktop. You also can't make two different Chrome profiles open on different desktops because only Chrome knows anything about its profiles. macOS only sees "Chrome", not "Chrome — Profile X", so if you tell it to open Chrome on Desktop 1, then it will open Chrome on Desktop 1. dwieb
Are there any updates on this? I have a workflow that opens a new chrome window, and navigates to a certain link. I would love it if this workflow only opened new chrome windows on my main desktop! Link to comment
vitor
Welcome @dwieb, This requires that Apple provides an API for it. They don’t, as far as I could gather. You can use the Feedback Assistant app to suggest it to them. Edited June 9, 2022 by vitor dwieb 1 Link to comment
