Not finding Calendar app

Recommended Posts

Dear fellow Alfred users,

I'm an Alfred user for some time now and love it.

Recently after I updated to 2.0 I searched for the Calendar app with Alfred but couldn't find it!

So I thought: hmmm strange lest start testing!

So

-My search scope is good (can find every other app in the applications folder)

-Reinstalled Alfred

-Spotlight finds it

-Rebuild my database

-Cleared application cache

-Running Mountian Lion

-Have a spotlight comment for calendar (iCal) I thought maybe this gives a conflict but it doesn't because I deleted it and added some to other files and it doesn't work for calendar but doesn't I've any problems with other files!

Any suggestions?

Could you open Terminal.app and paste:

mdls /Applications/Calendar.app

and paste the results in. This should let me see what's up :)

Andrew may spot something but I don't notice anything right off. I would suggest clearing app cache once more and then going to System Prefs->Spotlight and adding the Applications folder to the Spotlight privacy tab, wait a moment, and then remove it. This will force OSX to reindex the Applications folder. This typically resolves any kind of issue like this.

Hi, I have the same issues and I'm unable to open calendar and calculator but I can open safari. I've tried reseting it with this

I should add that this was a general problem I was having since the update. I solved it by hitting reset here http://monosnap.com/image/KGcrkUyDx1Jl5k5UomNyuLiFpYHJh4

and clicking on the rebuild index under advanced tab but I still can't open calendar. I really love this app so I hope this can be fixed.

Seems like some apps where quite locked by macos, couldn't even do a `sudo ln -s test /Applications/Calendar.app`. Solved it by:

- Drag Calendar.app a new folder (it will create an alias (see tiny arrow in corner of app icon), the actual app will remain)

- In alfred preferences, under features -> default results, drag the folder to "Search scope"

- Higher up, in the "extras" section, hit "Advanced...", and drag the alias into the window

Alfred will now find the Calendar.app alias when searching for "cal" (etc), which in turn will open the actual calendar app.
