Can Alfred detect when a device is connected?

Hi all, hoping for some help.

Is Alfred able to detect and act upon a device being connected to the system?

 

for instance: 

• Scanner plugged into USB ---> launch scanner software
• Scanner unplugged ---> quit software

No. By design, Alfred needs to be explicitly called by the user. You can, however, tell whatever software you use to detect the device connections to tell Alfred to do something.
