Snippet pasting twice only under Google Chrome

Hello,

I am new to Alfred.

I created two snippets that are pasting fine under Safari, Firefox or Opera.

But under Chrome, that I need to use, it is pasting twice. I removed Chrome thoroughly and reinstalled the last version.

I checked: Posts on the same topic and neither multiple occurrences of Alfred were found nor the trick to remove keyboard repetition worked for me.

I ran Google Chrome under a Macbook Air 2011 with High Sierra.

Thank you for help.

@bin31 Thanks for filling in your details.

Alfred won't double-expand your snippets, so it's likely that something else on your Mac is causing this duplication. You've already done a good job identifying that the issue is only happening in Chrome, so the next step is to establish what makes Chrome different to your other apps.

  • Do you have any browser plugins active in Chrome? If you disable the plugins, does text expansion happen normally?
  • Do you have any other text expansion apps running? Make sure these are quit (and also check that their invisible "helpers" that may be running in the background are quit too)
  • If you go into Alfred's Snippets preferences and change your snippet keyword to something obscure you definitely wouldn't have used before as keyword, does the snippet expand once or twice in Chrome?
  • Does it happen in any Chrome window, or on specific sites like Slack or Gmail?

Let me know how you get on :)

Vero

Hello,

I think it has something to do with what I fiddled before using Alfred.

I tried to get the Alfred Snippet behaviour using AppleScript Service but it did not work. And I found Alfred.

Under Alfred, when I define a Snippet using the same key as I used for the AppleScript Services, I get a context proposal corresponding to what I tried to do with the service (see pic).

And it has also an iCloud impact because when I type the same key in Safari on my iPhone, I get the same context proposal :-0.

I thought I had cleaned up the related services. I will have to dig this to get rid of this annoying behaviour.

Finally, under Chrome only, my hypothesis is that hitting the key in question, brings both Alfred and AppleScript Service response so causing the doubling.

I think the problem is that the service hides somewhere. May be I defined it in iCloud by mistakes. I am not very familiar with iCloud so I will have to dig this.

May be you got some info about that type of misbehaviour.

Thanks for you help.
