Latest Chrome update breaks search. RESOLVED

EDIT:  RESOLVED.  I wanted to see if doing a search would make Alfred start Chrome.  I had to go to the Activity Monitor to force quit Chrome but afterward Chrome was working as before.  So if you have the same problem, quit Chrome and try again.
 

 After updating to Chrome 89.0.4389.72, I can't use Alfred to search.  
 

Opening the Alfred window and typing in a search or even "g [query]" results in no action except the Alfred window disappearing.

 

If I switch the default browser to Firefox or Vivaldi, Alfred works as expected.

 

Maybe the takeaway is I should stop using Chrome.
