BenjaminO
Hello @vitor, Here is a workflow I would like to share. Author : me Link to the Github repo : https://github.com/BenjaminOddou/alfred-folderify List of dependencies : Homebrew and Folderify (mentionned also in the README.md) Screenshots in the README as well Don't hesitate to tell me if something needs to be updated. 🙂
vitor
This is a fun idea. It will be live soon at http://alfred.app/workflows/benjaminoddou/folderify/. I have a question and a suggestion: Why clear the File Buffer every time? You’re using Loading folders… and Loading png files… in the Placeholder Subtext of the File Filters. That was confusing to me at first, because the Loading together with the … make it look as if we should wait for the results to be populated, when in fact we can just start typing to filter for what we’re looking for. May I suggest updating the message (or deleting it)? That’s not an impediment for inclusion in the Gallery, but I do think it’d make it clearer for other users. BenjaminO
Hello @vitor and thank you for the feedback ! You are totally right about that. May I ask you to tell me if you prefer « start writing to find png file » and « start writing to find folder » or should I remove them totally ? I’ll update that very soon 😉 EDIT : regarding the buffer, for my use case I prefer clearing the buffer because I do not wish to reuse it after the workflow. If that not suitable or if you think I should change that behavior, do not hesitate to give me some feedbacks 😄 Edited February 3 by BenjaminO

In general I tend to prefer having the subtext, but whichever you feel works best. The proposed message is good. 27 minutes ago, BenjaminO said: I prefer clearing the buffer because I do not wish to reuse it after the workflow. But you’re clearing the File Buffer when using the File Filters. If it was instead being cleared when using the File Actions I could see the reasoning, but as it is I feel you may be trying to do something which can be accomplished easier. Hence my question. BenjaminO
Hello @vitor, I think I will stick with the prompt then. In my experience (correct me if I am wrong), buffer is cleared by default when using file actions. 🤔 I also have a small question regarding the update of workflows in Alfred Gallery. Is the connection between my repo and the Gallery is automatic? I mean if I push a new release in GitHub, should I also send a binary somewhere else or the Gallery will point to the right version ? I can deal with that question and will leave the other for Vitor. I had the same question about gallery updates as you and Vitor clarified that gallery updates will be automatic from workflows posted on GitHub. I hope that answers at least that question. BenjaminO
Hello @Stephen_C, thank you very much for your answer, really appreciate it. So as I understand, nothing to do on my side but the version needs to be checked regularly manually. 😃
Stephen_C
As I understand things all you need to do is to post any update on GitHub as and when you make one. The gallery will automatically detect the update and itself will be updated soon after your GitHub update. Users who have downloads from the gallery can use the Aflred Gallery link (at the bottom of the list of workflows in Alfred) to check for, and download, any updates from the gallery. vitor
Quite right. As long as you keep releasing them the same way (e.g. new GitHub releases), updates will be detected and checked for. If you ever change the distribution method, it’s helpful to let us know so we can adapt. Worth reinforcing there is a delay between a release and it showing up in the Gallery, which is by design. xilopaint
Thanks for the workflow! I love the idea! Is there any way to remove the icon if I don't want to use it anymore?
BenjaminO
Hello @xilopaint, I didn’t try but maybe a blank (transparent) png could do the trick. 🤔 let me know if it worked !

Sounds like a workaround, not the right way to handle the issue.
