Autocomplete AND pass argument

Hi, I have a scenario where I am using autocomplete, but it looks like autocomplete will not let me pass arguments (according to documentation, arguments are ignored). Why is this? Is it possible to create a situation where I can use autocomplete as well as pass the autocompleted text as an argument to a subsequent script?

If you use tab to autocomplete, you can do both.
