Application launcher & upgrade

Hello,

 

Question 1

For man years I have used and app called Quickeys to launch app on my Mac. I simply press F12 and it launches Safari. F11 for Firefox, etc.

Is there a way to set something like that in Alfred?

 

Question 2

I currently have version 3 installed and am considering upgrading to 5.5

I saw on the Alfred site a guide migrate from version 4 to 5. Is there such a guide for 3 to 5?

To answer your first question, Alfred supports hotkey triggers, but not individual key triggers. For that, a lot of Alfred users use a tool like Karabiner-Elements.

 

For your second question, there is an official guide for migrating from Alfred 2 or 3 to Alfred 4. This combined with the guide you've already read should help get you updated smoothly:
