Best way to backup Alfred 5.5.1?

I'm on Mac OS 15.1

How do I do a complete backup of Alfred?. I know about the preferences file and I already back that one up. I do not need to sync.

Thanks

@JEG All of Alfred's persistent data should be stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Alfred, which includes things like your Powerpack key, Alfred's clipboard history, extra Workflow data, and the sync location of your preferences file. Including that folder with your preferences file should provide a complete backup of Alfred.

Thanks @FireFingers21

So if I'm understanding you correctly and for the benefit of the community, If I back up the entire ~/Library/Application Support/Alfred folder and restore it after reinstalling Allfred I should be able to pick up where I left off. Correct?.

Best,

@JEG This is indeed correct, provided you're not using sync (which you said you're not) - otherwise, the relevant Alfred.alfredpreferences will be in the sync location.

The primary preferences are in the Alfred.alfredpreferences, with the rest being various caches and data that is less essential.

We do offer a Preferences Backup workflow that I would recommend if you'd like a regular backup. Otherwise, the folder gets picked up in a standard-scope Time Machine backup as well.

Note that when setting up a new Mac, there are a few things you will need to do, namely:

  • Activate your Powerpack license
  • Grant permissions in macOS
  • You may also need to activate the Clipboard History & Snippets Text Expansion

These are some of the features that are not enabled by default for security reasons, so that you're fully aware that your clipboard content is being saved.

Hope that's helpful! :)
