Alfred 5.5 freezes after updating to Sonoma

Yes I know I'm a bit behind but I finally got around to upgrading to Sonoma and now Alfred freezes immediately on any input.

If I trigger it and start typing it freezes and the window can't be dismissed without manually killing the process with activity monitor.

Alfred is up to date. MacBook Pro M1 2021 running Sonoma 14.7.1

I tried redownloading/reinstalling Alfred and it made no difference.

I tried to export diagnostics from Alfred preferences but that freezes as well.

Never had an issue with Alfred before like this in many years.

@yuletide Welcome to the forum :)

The only real change in your configuration is your switch to Sonoma, so it's likely that the macOS upgrade hasn't gone as smoothly as it appears on the surface, and that there are underlying issues which are being exhibited via Alfred.

Here are a few things to try:

  1. Back up your Alfred preferences then reset them: Alfred.alfredpreferences will be found either in ~/Library/Application Support/Alfred/ or in your previously used sync location. Copy the file somewhere safe, then follow the steps to reset Alfred's prefs to defaults.
  2. Rebuild your Mac's index: Normally I'd recommend using Alfred's shortcuts but as that may not be available to you right now, open macOS System Settings to Spotlight > Search Privacy. Drag your entire drive to it, wait 30 seconds, then drag it back out which will trigger macOS rebuilding your Mac's index.

Start with these two and let me know how you get on.

Cheers,
Vero

So it seems this was actually due to a broken iCloud sync situation where documents and desktop we’re not available after the new OS install. Somehow that resolved itself last night and Alfred seems to be behaving normally now.

Alfred version is 5.5
